The American Community Survey (ACS) arm of the United States Census Bureau is the source for detailed population, linguistic, demographic and housing information about United States residents. Here are the statistical and graphical representations for various Nigerian/West African and African nationalities and ethnic populations by reported ancestries and languages in the U.S states.

According to the U.S Census Bureau 461,695 individuals reported Nigerian ancestry in 2019. The top 10 states with the largest number of Nigerians are in order:

Texas: 105,255
Maryland: 43,814
California: 38,907
New York: 37,675
Georgia: 28,711,
New Jersey: 25,095
Illinois: 24,897
Florida: 16,467
Pennsylvania: 13,841
Virginia: 10,079.

Also, Nigerians represent the largest African Nationality by ancestry in the United states. Here are the top 10 African Nationalities represented in the U.S as of 2019.

Of the various African languages spoken in U.S Households, only a handful were statistically significant enough to obtain discrete codes and statistical representation.codification. Out of the West African languages represented, some such as Yoruba, Igbo and Wolof are stand alone languages, while others such as Edoid, Gbe and Manding languages are linguistic groupings of similar languages. The following are the 10 largest West African languages spoken in America. The big 3 are:

Igbo - 94,788

The other 7 represented languages are:

Chai, where did people now see the notion that the Igbos are the largest Nigerian ethnic groups in the USA and that the Yorubas are the largest in UK?

Like I always say, any sane thinking person living in USA will know the Yorubas are the largest West African Ethic group in the USA, they are clearly represented in universities, corporate America, African Restaurants, Self-Owned businesses and etc.

I am glad this data is straight from the USA government Census Bureau website, so this is an objective truth.

I think the reason USA gave them for exempting Nigerians was because more than, 50,000 natives of Nigerians immigrated to the United States in the previous five years.

Nigerians plenty normally, if not for the strict visa approval self, we go don reach millions for USA.

I think there will be Hausas in the USA but they are too small to be captured in those statistics. That buttress the fact that the Hausas don’t travel to the USA like that.

I think the OP said in his post that the USA census bureau only presented the data for the statistically significant ethnic group in USA.

But think about this, Ghana; a country of 30 million people has 162K people in the US. If we were to go by proportional representation, then Nigeria with 7 times more people (over 200 million) should have at least 1.13 million people in the US proportionally, instead Nigerians are just 462K (2.8X Ghanaians)

Same goes with Ethiopia with 322K people with half Nigeria's population... if we do a 2X based on number of Ethiopians, then there should be at least 644K Nigerians in America.

The truth is that Compared to our population, the figure for Nigeria is very very low.... so, this perception that "Nigerians are already too much in the US" does not really sound all that to me actually especially if you look at other countries still enjoying the benefits of the visa lottery program.... Infact Nigerians are still "learning toddlers" when it comes to Global migration.... If you really want to know those who have made it a 'national program', go check the Filipinos, Eastern Europeans and the likes ... those ones migrate in the millions.

Now even though I don't have this data, but I expect the AM Yoruba channel on DSTV to be more widely viewed than the AM Igbo channel, b cause Igbos are much more likely to be watching AM Epic, which is 95% dominated by Igbo culture and settings.
