Finally found a solution to lock apps on redmi 9t


lock app and keep it running on Xiaomi phones...
open security app
tap on settings icon
tap on boost speed
tap on lock apps
and from there, lock the recents of apps you want to be running in background�



As u can see google chrome is locked

Try a hard reboot. Hold the power button when the phone is on, for 15 seconds.
If it doesn't fix the issue, you can try factory reset.
