kante did not win league,fenendes was lost in big games but debron he try but diz is worst season he as in EPL anytime man city win d league and again he has a lot of injury diz season but diz defender without him man city defence na toothpick

Would they have given it to B.Fernandes who many criticized went missing in the big games or Harry Kane whose team came a distant 7th? Ruben's choice was thus an award of convenience as he was from the winning team.

No, you misunderstand me. Van Dijk, a defender, deserved the award cos it was very glaring to see his impact. Without his presence, see how Liverpool crumbled to pieces this season.

Ruben Dias is a very good defender, but his impact is not as certainly great like Van Dijk. If Man City had not won EPL, Dias would not win the award. Meanwhile, VVD won the award even when Liverpool didn't win EPL that year.

Any of these players that wins their continental cup will win Balon d'or. Messi, Lewy, Mpape, Ronaldo etc. Kante might come 3rd, 4th or 5th.
But if Messi wins Copa America the hype might allow him win it even if or Portugal wins Euro.

Sincerely, no player is individually outstanding in the EPL this season. Most of them is just trying hard to pick up their loose pieces. Midfielders scoring most of the goals and most teams are playing with a false 9. Anyways, congrats Ruben!
