I wonder the kind of people establishing schools nowdays, for you to be a proprietor or proprietress of a school you need to have studied EDUCATION in school so as to have the clear understanding of how to handle your school and the entire staff.

My friend made some comment on some of his students report card and he is in trouble now.
These are some of the comments:
"He is not active in class"
"She keeps gang in the school"
"He is a truant."
"She is rude and not respectful",
those are some of the comment he made, and the proprietor told him to go and apologize to the parent for the comment made on their children's result, the guy has refused and has been fired for nt apologizing.

Whats your opinion on this?
did you get any comment that made your parent to be mad at you while in secondary school?

Private schools are the proprietors’ business and no one will stand watching and allow his business to be spoilt by a silly person.

The school has principal and proprietor. If any student is rude or disrespectful, why not reporting the student to the proprietor or teacher who will find a way of reaching out to the parent?

the right and truthful comment on the academic performance of the student and leave the moral part for the principal to handle.
The fact is that a good parent doesn’t need waiting for the comment on the report card before knowing how well his/her child is behaving in school. Regular visiting and/or ing the class teacher on phone gives the parent the knowledge of the child’s behavior in school. This will bring about a prompt correction and not having to wait till the end of the term.

This kinda silly comment can have a way of affecting the students’ future if one is not careful.
Which employer will see this kind of report card later in the future and employ the child having such comment by his/her class teacher?

I when my form mistress, Mrs Onajite made some silly remark on my report card...

My position was 17th out of 53 and what this woman can give as a remark was; "He's Becoming A Community Tout"


My father did not take it lightly with her as he stormed the school the following academic session and warned her never to condemn me with such remark.

Those remarks are really demoralizing.

my own report card is even worst than this when i was in SS2, my class teacher wrote bad comment on my report card just because i always skip maths, agric and biology class, my father scolded me and i turn a new leaf... You dont cover student just to seek the favour of the parent. Thats nonsense.

If a student stole the teacher’s handset, the best way to let the parent be aware is through summoning the parents to the school or sending the message to the parents to get them informed. Not through the report card

If any Teacher has any resentment for a student, it is better for the teacher to make a comment on the report card solely on academic performance of the student and leave the personality alone.

The report card is an official document and could limit the child's chances in the future.

There are better ways of telling parents about their child's behavior instead of writing it in the report card.

No matter how bad a child is, there is a positive side of him/her. Find that positive side and put it in the report card.

he's too kwayet in class. popcy almost killed me.

Report card. Says it all. Our moral standing started failing when we decided turning blind eyes to immoralities and bad behaviours. A good parent will be happy to see his son's bad behaviour exposed. I my class teacher's comment close to forty years. It made me a better person.

If you know what effect this kind of comment can have on the child later in the future, you won’t like it on your ward’s report card. When a potential employer sees it.

Best thing is to visit your ward’s school occasionally to ask about his/her comportment from the class teacher and not this nonsense on the report card

Everything is wrong in those comments. Comments on a student's report should be what they did well and areas of improvement.

My point is we basically said the same thing but my choice of words were chosen carefully. I mentioned where they need to improve on rather than calling them names.

Ur friend was supposed to give a remark on things that makes her not learn or things that she does too much that deter her from being better.. Remarks are sometimes supposed to be constructive.. if the child is doing badly,u give them a reason that child should do better, e.g
"Brilliant but too playful"
"willing to learn but sometimes disturbs"
"Knowledgeable but too quiet"
they should be constructive enough to take both Positive and negative ... Not disrespectful and rude wey that ur guy dey talk..

Your friend is wrong if it's a private school

I don't believe this story.... Every report card after the teachers comment it must go through the heaster or proprietress. Na from there them go don correct am. Trust me I know
