Every ministry of this istration is working so hard to outdo each other on who would inflict more pain on the citizens. Small change wey interns Dey take hold body, they now think even that is too much. But they can corner billions through padding. All those that voted Buhari twice will not die well. 3 Likes |

I’m sure he hates education with ion. He fights ASUU, he fights resident doctors, intern pharmacists and nurses.

As the day breaks, they keep on unleashing more wickedness and suppression. Those affected, who ed the emergence of "change" and "next level" (off course, next evil) enjoy your 'presidency'. For those who didn't this demons, God will definitely see us through.

Nigeria workers are abusing the system. Rivalry among workers across sectors and disciplines is alarming. I know introduction of internship schemes for all graduates in health sector will lead to chaos. Government is broke. Looting is too much. It is house doctors I pity most. NMA-Johesu rivalry will create more harm for health workers. Next thing in agenda is outsourcing of certain services like pharmacy, laboratory , radiography etc to private health institutions. 1 Like |

Elonmuskfan: The headline is false. There is nothing in the circular that says interns won’t be paid again. The circular clearly stated that salaries and wages commission will determine their allowances. 1 Like |

This is so bad for a poor country like Nigeria crumbling with poor health institutions. Meanwhile see how much an intern houseofficer is paid in the USA. FY1 doctor is equivalent to a houseofficer in Nigeria Failed country

seunmsg:they were hitherto paid about 130k for intern pharmacists which I am aware of. I don’t know what civil service grade level that is. But this new development which states that they are still under learning and do not merit to be enlisted into the civil service wage scale, means the earlier salary will be abolished and tokens be giving to them on monthly basis since what they are doing is part of learning. In that case doctors and pharmacists and their likes will only attract good pay after completing their nysc and have become fully fledged health practitioners, no more handsome pays during interns or housemanships |

Elonmuskfan: My comment was a reaction to the headline in comparison to the content of the circular and nothing else. According to the circular, they will still be paid. Saying government will stop paying them is totally false. Btw, apart from medicine and pharmacy, is there any other profession that gets absolved into the civil service while still on training? |
capitalzero: 9:26pm On Apr 23, 2021 |
Elonmuskfan: Very wrong. House doctors are being paid salary not allowance worldwide. Pharmacy interns are also being paid in some climes. |
capitalzero: 9:29pm On Apr 23, 2021 |
seunmsg: Medical laboratory scientists, physiotherapy, radiography and recently nurses. Internship training was introduced for these professions because of unholy competition in health sector. Here, we are. |

capitalzero:What are you saying? All health professionals are in civil service salary during their internship/Housemanship. Doctors GL12 Others GL9 ©️2021. |
capitalzero: 10:18pm On Apr 23, 2021 |
samuelpeters: Wrong. House doctors are on GL 10. Others are on GL 9. However , internship is primarily for doctors and pharmacists before other health workers agitated for their own internship. |
samuelpeters(m): 10:41pm On Apr 23, 2021 |
capitalzero:Correction noted. But they are all on salary scale. It doesn't matter when the other ed. If the circular/memo is true, then it affects every health professional. ©️2021. |

samuelpeters: Is there any country apart from Nigeria where interns apart from medical and pharmacy interns being paid? |
DashDolls(m): 10:52pm On Apr 23, 2021 |
Nigerian Leaders or will I say "Dictators" don't appreciate health workers yet when they have small headache, they rush to Western countries who treat and pay their health workers well. America should ban our dictators from getting medical attention from foreign countries. Let me see if they will not even make Medical and Nursing schools free of charge to encourage more people to come into the field. |

capitalzero:I don't know and I don't care! We are talking about Nigeria. What is your point? ©️2021. |

We are in for a protracted crisis in the health sector. The senior doctors are even having it tough at the moment cos they have to do tasks ordinarily covered by house officers. With implementation of this act, we'll have less number of house officers as many will move abroad. Meaning senior doctors will have even more workload. This will not be a fight for just HOs. Senior doctors will be involved. Patients will bear the brunt cos I see strike actions dragging for months, like the ASUU type strikes
