Sign petroleum industry bill, let private sector take full charge

A nation that flares gas instead of powering power generating plants with it

Some people go don use LNG become trillionaires since Nigerians don't focus on that

*Gas = Electricity = industrialisation =Job creation = GDP

*Gas = Fertiliser = Agriculture= food and raw materials

.

The Senate go first "prepare" the Bill before the President assents to it naa..

Why does Nairaland have so many local, dumb kids?

I don’t subscribe that the Federal government neglected the SE in sharing oil boom. Last I checked, the SE states still receive FAAC from the same oil proceeds and I don’t understand what you mean by neglected.

Also I think two states in the SE are part of those receive the 13% derivation so that’s also fair enough.

Yes, ESN can always vent their anger about that if igbos don’t get lion share from the gas and they will be justified just as the ND militant were justified in their clamor.

How many SE states are you talking about?
Also realise that in much of the 70s and 80s, Yoruba states were double the Igbo states. So Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis were getting more than double of the oil windfall, in spite of the fact that huge chunks of those oil bearing Niger Delta territories are Igbo: speaking.

Igbos all these, and it will be suicidal for Nigeria, if Igbos are not granted the mind-numbing lion share, in the gas sector

What is the population of the SE states and landmass area? I mean the SE inhabitant population and not the Igbos as an ethnic group.

You shouldn’t forget there are vast numbers of Igbos with sanctuary in most of those other states feeding on the allocation and sometimes employed into the civil services of those states.

I am not sure there has been anytime the Yorubas are getting double the allocation of the SE. if there is any evidence pointing to that please let me know and I can learn too.

As per the gas sector, Igbos can always do what they want by asking for some derivatives. It is their right so I don’t think that should be up for argument.

I will be surprised if our Igala brothers in Kogi don't have oil, but I expect the one in either Anambra or IMO to be much more.

If you have any official information on Igala gas, please share with us

that when there was only Imo and Anambra state in the SE, there was Ogun, Ondo, Oyo and Lagos in the SW.

Out of all the states in Nigeria, Lagos has had the greatest federal attention. Lagos is a Yoruba state.

The whole of the SE has not had up to one-tenth the federal attention that Lagos has had. Add this to the fact that the remaining 3 western states, also have more federal attention than the whole of the SE. So. Y various orders of magnitude, the SE is being short-changed.

Now even though there is a sizeable population of Igbos in Lagos, they are not the decision-makers of the state as they don't control political power there. It is ultimately controlled by the Yorubas, which is why Tinubus family are the Babalojas and Iyalojas of markets physically dominated by Igbos.

Igbos have been short-changed seriously, and the current consciousness will make it impossible for the Fulanis to control the SE gas as the Niger Delta people allowed them to control their oil

Nigeria unity is non negotiable - Nnamdi Azikiwe
I love this. When Azikiwe was chanting one-Nigeria out of his greed and lust for other tribes' lands end resources his kinsmen termed it nationalism. But today they label Fulanis as Jihadists for promoting the same one-Nigeria Philosophy invented and championed by the 'great' Zik of Africa the foremost Nationalist and detribalised Nigerian who ironically was not only a member of a tribal association known as Igbo State Union (ISU) but even accepted to be its president.

Lagos bring to the Nigeria purse far more than any SE state ever brought so it deserves the allocation it is getting from the center. In fact it deserves more than that.

Like I said, I always value facts and statistics more, I’ll look for it later when I’m free about what allocation that was given to the states known as Igbo states then compared to the SW to infer my own judgement.

Forget about the Fulani for once, the president of Nigeria has the power to control the gas in any region in as much as Nigeria remain one.

There is only two things the Igbo can do, either play the politics and enter the center to control things or continue to clamor for Biafra and hope one day it will come to fruition.

In as much as you remain part of Nigeria, there is little ESN could do to overpower the FG. If Buhari want to control the resources in the East, he will and nothing will happen.

They will first use the carrot approach and grant amnesty to dissenting militia forces, if that fails they will buy the politicians, if that fails they will send the military guys to quell the uprising.

Lastly, don’t get me wrong, I have said times without numbers that the Igbos have the right to take derivatives from the gas because it’s on their land BUT in as much as Nigeria is one, the gas will be controlled by the FG.

Make I see una leg for southeast idiots.... After destroying southsouth they want to extent their leprosy infested hand to the east..... It won't work.

Let your one Nigeria end in the south south.

But this one-Nigeria idea originated from the South East. So why the resentment against it now? Wasn't it Azikiwe that continued to push for a Nigeria with a powerful center where all revenues are pooled on the argument that such was better for national unity?

Which gas fields are in the Kogi "belt"?

What are the 3D seismic results?

How many exploration wells have been drilled there?

How many appraisal wells have been drilled there?

How many development wells have been drilled there?

What is the proven gas reserve in place obtained from these active drilling activities?

This is how to measure gas reserves.

Imo state alone has one of the largest proven natural gas finds in Nigeria. Drilled and capped and waiting. Go check why SEPlAT has built a gas plant in Ohaji beside Walter Smiths Refinery.

So please pray tell and answer the above questions or don't peddle wrong info.

2 items of discussion:

1. Where are the Kogi belt proven gas reserves which are validated by drilled and flowing wells?

2. Show the map of gas reserves that make Imo state have just 1% of Nigeria's proven gas reserves.

If you are in the industry, you wouldn't say Imonstate has 1% of Nigeria's gas reserves.
