I realised the issue of miscarriage is not openly discussed but the truth is a lot of people are going through it and facing lots of hurts, not knowing where to go to to find succour. I recently went tru a second miscarriage and to tell u the truth it was not easy just wanted to find people in my shoes so that we can encourage one another. let's share our experience and success stories to ease each others fears. cheers to live babies

pjthatcher imagine what your onion lecture got me into. Lo has colic. Down to the market in search of yellow Onions. Chai come see eyes wey some take look me after saying they didn't have. One of them asked what I wanted to use it for and I replied for Colic. She quired if I actually meant 'alubosa elewe and explained yellow onion is very scarce that only herbalists request for it.
I didn't bother what they used it for. I quickly removed my slippers, put it under armpit and ran as fast as my tiny legs could carry me out of Mushin market

This hot water massage issue hope am not guilty of it because i stopped massaging the navel when it closed up. Now lo is 11weeks and has big navel but softens when hungry

Happy birthday to all celebrants. God bless you all

hahahahahahaha can't stop laughing oooo. God bless all mums kai the things we do for our Los.

got this online and decided to share.

Onions are excellent in the battle against chronic vomiting, due to its anti-inflammatory properties which boost the immune system.

This vegetable derives from the Allium family, meaning it is packed with sulfur which allows antiseptic and antibiotic influence on the body.

Alongside that, onions offer plenty of antioxidants like quercetin, relieving the body from free radicals and preserving its health. Onions can be easily juiced and consumed as such, helping with respiratory diseases because of its cleansing nature.

Furthermore onions can also be great for:

curing cardiovascular diseases
treating arthritis
regulating elevated cholesterol levels
helping with diabetes due to their sulfur and flavonoid content
Using Onions To Their Advantage

Even in prehistoric times, onions have been used as a remedy for treating countless diseases, and below you will find guides on how to make the most of this glorious product.

1. Colic – commonly used by the Cherokee Indians for treating children suffering from colic.

Recipe: Use slices of yellow onion and boil them in water. Let liquid cool off and drain it. Feed your infant with one teaspoon of the beverage every hour until symptoms fade.

2. Dissolve chest congestion

Recipe:  Mix one crushed onion and some coconut oil. Form a paste and use it to smear onto the chest. Secure paste with a towel on top of it and put on a shirt. Keep it until warm, and then remove towel and rinse.

3. Ear infections and ear pain

Recipe:  Take chopped onion and place it inside a sock (the thinner, the better). Tie it up and place it on affected area. Secure sock with a hat or a headband. Remove after pain is gone.

4. Cough

Recipe: Peel a large onion and cut in two halves. Apply one tablespoon of brown sugar on each half and leave onion to rest for an hour. Eat the remedy and proceed with the treatment twice a day to eliminate cough.

5. Cuts

Use the transparent skin that every onion has to stop bleeding instantly. Also, you will get antiseptic benefits and protect the skin from harm.

6. Fever

Recipe: Slice onion into very thin pieces. Mix them with coconut oil and use this to massage the bottom of your feet. Place some slices of onion on the feet arches and secure them with cling wrap. Put on socks and leave onion overnight. This remedy is a great antioxidant as well.

7. Air purifier

Method: Place slices of onion in different house areas- this will enable air cleansing and destroy all bacteria and viruses inside your household.

8. Vomiting

Recipe: Cover one yellow or white onion with cheesecloth and squeeze out the juice from it. Prepare a cup of peppermint tea and let it cool off. Take two teaspoons of the onion juice.

After 5 minutes, take two teaspoons of the cold peppermint tea. Wait another for 5-10 minutes and sip from the onion juice again. Repeat treatment until symptoms fade. It takes about 20 minutes for the vomiting urges to go away.

You could also use onion in many different manners, including:

Rubbing onion onto skin to prevent insect bites
Rubbing onion onto scalp to accelerate hair growth
Placing onion in clothes as a protection against moths
Boiling and spraying onion juice to keep plants safe from pests and bugs
Cleaning clothes iron with slices of onion to prevent rusting
Using onion slices to clean and polish glass and copper objects
Massaging onion onto skin to avoid freckling
The WHO (World Health Organization) is a strong er in using onions in case of bronchitis, coughs, congestion, infections, colds and the flu.

What the Native Americans knew about the onion for centuries, we are just beginning to learn, but it is never too late to start being healthy. Take the knowledge you can get, learn from it, and apply it. It is as simple as that.

Seriously?! As in like... Seriously? Are you out of your mind?!! shocked shocked shocked

You would rather endager your childs life and get a prescription on naira land than go back to see your doctor and ask for a different medication?

Is this being pennywise and pound foolish? Or are you trying to save on the time you will spend in going back to see the doctor?

Lemme put it this way and very bluntly: you will spend at least 5 times the amount you want to save and then end up sleeping in tha same hospital for days on end should anything happen to that child.

Go to some hospitals in nigeria and see Children are dying everyday from malaria, because the parents either wasted time in bringing the child to the hospital by either self medicating or looking for alternative treatments that dont work, or saying no money?

madam you dont know what the mum is going tru, for her ti come to nairaland and ask for another prescription it must mean a lot. all fingers are not equal please don't make her feel guilty Abeg. help her if u can and if u caant please don't say anything

You should get some saline nasal drops or nasal spray.
It helps sofens the mucus in the nose, and helps them breathe better.

I personally prefer the spray to the drops as it seems easier for me to apply.

If lo is older than 3 months you can get some olbas oil for children and put a few drops on his bib or the top of his clothes... somewhere he will be able to inhale the vapors as long as its not directly on the skin.

Also a few drops of breast milk into the nostrils is said to do the trick as well.

Good luck!
thanks for the quick response I appreciate . he is a year old

thanks for the prompt response. he is over a year

Why not chill a bit, this is a new product on the market. At least let it get a NAFDAC certification and number. It sounds okay, but I have no idea if the ingredients are baby-safe (though it may be toddler and older child-safe). Babies have very gentle tummies and even if they are eating adult food, they're eating food prepared in an environment that are used to.
you are right sha

Wow!! Nice product. I bought the small pack and I must confess that its really nice. The aroma too is inviting.

Find a way to educate people more on the nutritional value. And also try to spread it across to other localities so people get to be aware of it. If you do your marketing well you'll overtake custard and the likes.

My niece loves it even more than her food.

Keep it up.
how much did u get it. I stay close to abesan estate maybe I can get one

Hi all, i am a first time mum, just had my baby 7days ago and i just got to know abt this thread on Nairaland today. I am a bit worried because my baby seems to be having colic, she hardly sleeps at night n cries alot. I heard abt mommy's bliss gripe water and i started using it for her. She sleeps a bit better now from like 11pm-3am but once shez up, shez still slpy but cant sleep, instead she whimpers till morning....Also shez on similac advancr which was given to her at the hospital but she poos alot. She had pooed like 4 times today, the last 2 just about an hour apart and she seems to poo after every meal. Considering changing her food to enfamil to see if that's the issue. Kindly advise on these 2 issues. Dont wanna panic n rush to the doc but wld do so if need be. URGENT PLS
well most new born babies poops after each meal. are u breastfeeding alongside the similac? has her cord fallen off? Cuz its after that phase that colic starts. she is still adjusting to life outside the womb

Good Morning mamas, My baby girl of 8months old takes NAN 2, but can't finish 150ml, she take 120ml per feed even her cereals, she doesn't do more than 120ml, no matter how you force her, she is healthy, and a big baby ( infact pple call here OROBO) but just want to ask, how many Mls should she be taking now.
you should be spoon feeding her by now ma'am prolonged use of feeding bottle is not healthy for your baby's teeth.

I sha took him home by force o. in waking up the next morning he was just starring at me, when I touched him he hit my hands away. but he came around later that day.
now........
he sleeps throughout the night and even earlier than before I weaned him
my advice to mothers intending to wean their lo's soon, please do it gradually. the night sucking is usually the last to be stopped. you can touch the dial now #wink#

Hello mamas, please my 9months old that used to eat everything suddenly stopped eating apart from b.milk and water and its over a week now,she has lost some weight, she is also having catarrh and cough.what can I do to make her start eating again and any remedy for d catarrh and cough?
for cough and catarrh what I do is add a drop of eucalyptus oil to hot water and place the baby face down on my lap with the bucket of hot water on the floor so that the steam can touch. his face, I do this twice in a day and he is good. note please don't expose him to too much breeze. as for the cough if its light it goes on its own but if its much I suggest u take him to see a paed.
you will need to start introducing the food to him again in bits just like u did initially. it could be he has sore throat or just lost interest. be patient and lovingly introduce the foods again small small. hope this helps

Good afternoon house. This is my first post here. I have a 4 months old lovely baby. When is the ideal time to change her formula. she has been taking Nan1 milk. Regards
if she is tolerating nan 1 why do u want to change. I know most milk do have 0-6 month and then 6-12 month . I'll suggest u wait till your baby is 6 month before changing to follow up milk

Lol, Am not touching the dial o,
I never knew about this cabbage going until I read it on this thread, and am always having breast engorgment, will follow due process this time around.
Did you say 7times a night? shocked
my dear yes omy prince can suck for Africa.
pjthatcher: 2:28pm On Apr 03, 2016
so am trying to wean my toddler and today is day 3, no fever, no headache and no breast ache. here are the steps I took and it really helped me
1. I gradually reduced the number of times I fed zino (over a period of 1 week ) until I stopped giving him during the day
2. I reduced the midnight feeding from 7 times a night to twice though it was war but I achieved it
3. I finally started the weaning process on Thursday night. took him to my mum and he has been there since
4 only my right breast was full yesterday but I started putting cold cabbage leaves on Friday and I feel that greatly prevented my breast from being engorged
5. yesterdy being sat I started feeling an ache on the right breast so I applied cold compress n it disappeared
the movie is still on going so keep your fingers crossed.
note; my cabbage leave is still firmly tucked in my firm bra and am feeling sooooooo good. was really afraid it was going to be a tough time for me that's y am soooooo happy

stay tuned!!!!! don't touch that dial lol

Greetings to all mothers, FTD here! My DD is 6 weeks old, the problem is that she throws up though not all the time after breastfeeding , it's become so worrisome for the mum and I, we've taken her to see her pead several times on this same issue and they rule it down to reflux, a little spit up is normal I'm told but the baby seems to puke all she's eaten sometimes, anybody experienced this before and what where the solutions . cry cry cry
my dear I experienced it o but its nothing to worry about. what I did was to break her feed ,for instance when my breast is full, I don't allow him suck everything at once, k give a little and allow him burp or rest before continuing its reflux. my baby had it up until 8 month even though I was already giving him solid. I applied the same principle of feeding him a little at a time. its a sacrifice may we reap the fruit of our labours in Jesus name

Babe, you have to be firm, you let lil man know there are rewards/ consequences for any action of his, do not succumb NOW, you have to lay a foundation for how you mean to proceed...

By proceed I mean, Discipline & we discipline to correct & not to punish, We can't have him biting or hitting his classmates or teachers... No bueno.....

Would have posited "Terrible Two" but you mentioned begging him before he stops which is a clear indication that he knows what he is doing & is only testing your limit.... Don't let him take control out of your hands..

Potty training is a pain in the butt but hang in there & continue to gently steer him towards the potty, get him a fancifully designed potty that he'd like to sit on...

As for the chest pain, see a Dr, doesn't sound like pneumonia to me, Pneumonia comes with coughing & Wheezing...

Do an ECG.

**My way (what works for me ) which I'm not prescribing**

You hit me, I hit right back, I won't tell you "i'll beat you <insert name here>, I go ahead & tap his/her butt. You bite me, I'm putting my teeth on your skin too... I'm all for "gentle" use of the rod!! I'm not sparing you unless you are less than 1!

I am not in obodo oyinbo, won't raise obodo oyinbo children!!cool
thats the way to go my dear.
