Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has alleged that Nigeria can not be called a free nation because Christians are not given same opportunity as their Muslim counterparts.

Fani-Kayode, who is known for his criticism of Nigerian current government, said Christians are not allowed to live freely in the north.

In a series of tweets, he claimed that Nigeria cannot be called a free state until opportunities are equal.

Photos: Little girl left with serious burns after receiving an injection from a nurse in Imo

8-year-old Ifeyinwa pictured above is being treated at the Federal Medical Center Owerri in Imo state after suffering severe burns from an injection she received from a nurse.

According to reports, Ifeyinwa had fallen ill some weeks ago and her aunt took her to see a nurse that had a chemist around their home.

The nurse said she showed symptoms of malaria and gave her an "anti-malaria injection". Shortly after receiving the injection, Ifeyinwa's body started to react seriously leading to some parts of her body burning up

Two armed men operating on a motorcycle on Wednesday reportedly killed a police officer and made away with his AK47 riffle in Onitsha, Anambra.

The incident occurred barely three weeks after a police inspector was killed at a road block at Ugwunwasike round-about, Ogidi near Onitsha.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said Wednesday’s incident occurred at about 3.30pm at a check point near Nkpor junction

The source said the hoodlums shot the policeman at close range, collected his riffle and sped-off, adding that the incident made people around and other police officers scamper for safety.

Efforts to get further details of the deceased and the mortuary where his body was deposited from the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr Mark Jafaru was not successful.

Jafaru said the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Nkeiru Nwode was in a better position to comment on the development.

However, when Nwode was ed on phone, she said “I have not been brief on that; when I am fully briefed, I will brief you people.”

Wednesday’s incident makes it the third reported case of gun snatching around Onitsha this year by armed men with police officers being allegedly killed in the process

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu on Friday, May 12, met with a musician Don Prince who was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Prince met with the IPOB in his hometown in Isiama Afara in Umuahia.

The musician was first declared 'most wanted artiste' by the DSS and was arrested, prosecuted and discharged and acquitted by a chief magistrate of the Abuja Magistrate Court.

Sources from the Kanu's family said the IPOB leader could not hide his joy when Prince visited.

The source said the musician who knelt down before Kanu was also blessed by the IPOB leader.

The minister denied reports that the Federal Government has refused to grant parents of the girls and the 21 others released in October 2016 by Boko Haram access them.

She said pictures of the 82 girls released on Saturday had been sent to their parents for identification, while parents of those released earlier had full access to them.

Mrs Alhassan also said that contrary to reports that the government had prevented the girls released earlier from going back home, the reality was that they were scared of going back to Chibok.

“We had a meeting with the parents of the 21 girls and the girls themselves and they all asked the Federal Government to send them to school and take care of them. Most of them are scared of returning to Chibok because of their experiences,” she said.

“But to show you that parents have access to their daughters, some parents just left the facility where the girls were kept three weeks ago after visiting the girls. One of the girls, who is married, is at present in Chibok, visiting the town with her husband and his family.”

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Jummai Alhassan said tests conducted on the 82 by Chibok girls that were freed on Saturday show that some of them need to undergo surgery

The minister disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja, on Thursday, May 11. The 82 girls, who are part of the 276 girls abducted by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State in 2014, were released five days ago after three years in captivity.

"The 82 Chibok girls are currently undergoing medical screening in Abuja. Some of them need surgery… this should be completed in two to three weeks." Mrs Alhassan said.

"To his defence, Chinedu said he got the money in Tete Mozambique, where he operates a clothing shop. He claimed that unspecified officers at the border (Mozambique, Malawi), told him not to worry about the cash.

He said the advice made him to overlook the paperwork process, because it implied that there would be no problem to travel out with it.

"Currently, the suspect is in Police custody, and is expected to appear in court, to answer charges of illegal possession of foreign currency, and attempting to externalise forex. The police at KIA are appealing to the general public, to buy or exchange money, at designated foreign exchange facilities, to avoid similar incidents,” Chitonde said.

The suspect Chinedu has been living in Tete, Mozambique, for the past three years.

The Malawi Police at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA), Lilongwe, on Monday afternoon May 8 arrested a 43-year old Nigerian national for attempting to externalise US$7,000 (MK5 million), which was hidden in his hand luggage.
KIA Spokesperson Sapulain Chitonde, identified the suspect as Egemonye Christian Chinedu, from Nnewi and holder of a Nigerian port number A05010761.

Chinedu was apprehended inside the Departures Lounge at around 13:00 hours, as he waited to board a Nigerian-bound Kenyan Airways flight.

Chitonde told The Maravi Post that the suspect was physically searched by Police Officers manning the check point, and the said amount of US$7,000, was discovered.
The KIA Spokesperson said the Nigerian failed to provide evidence from authorised Forex dealers, when he was asked to show ing documents.
