Governor Willie Obiano has vowed not to allow the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB repeat the mistake made by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB who dissuaded the people from coming out during the last national census.

Obiano who spoke during his visit to an erosion site at Odume Layout, Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, while responding to the statement by the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu that there would be no election in the state in particular and in Southeast zone which he described as Biafra land, said:

“there is going to be an election on that day. Whoever says there will be no election is not carrying the interest of the people at heart”.

According to Obiano: “we will not repeat what happened during the national census period in the years back here in the state when those who called themselves MASSOB disrupted the exercise in Igbo land and the consequences of that disruption led to rating our population figure very low which is what we are still suffering today because we were counted less than what we are.”

The governor appealed to the electorate to vote for him on November 18, during the state gubernatorial election in the state for sustaining the good governance he inherited.

Governor Nyeso Wike of River State, has stated the the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has thought the Federal Government a good lesson.

Wike made the statement in reaction to Kanu’s planed visit to Lagos while addressing the media at the government House Port Harcourt.

He expressed fears over the dangers that may occur if the IPOB leader embark on such journey.

Wike said, ” the whole of Eastern region has not being thoroughly convinced on Biafra, for him to embark on such tour is like a suicide mission, we still need him here.

”Even though I have never ed him for one day, but I think his actions have thought Nigeria a good lesson of their mistakes, and where they need to amend.”

Wike noted that if not for Nnamdi Kanu that Nigeria would have been out of shape.
”I urge him to stay back with his people, going to Lagos is not a welcomed development”, he said.

In a statement to newsmen, yesterday, in Onitsha, Anambra State, signed by Biafra Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike noted that the celebration proper of 18 years of MASSOB would take place in Onitsha, Anambra State on September 13.

He noted that other activities lined up for the 18 years of non-violence and non-exodus by MASSOB would also feature the official opening of Voice of Biafra International, VOBI, radio located in , which would lead to the radio commencing broadcast on short wave (SW) band, this week.

The statement further quoted Uwazuruike as saying that the radio station would be the “authentic voice of the Biafran people and always educate, inform and enlighten our people on the issue of Biafra and not to spread hate messages or blackmail.”

The statement maintained that “BIM would continue to play a leading role in our quest for Biafra”, assuring Ndigbo that it is only non-violence that will lead them to Biafra independence without firing a gunshot.

On Anambra State governorship election fixed for November 18, the statement added that its would suffocate Anambra as the Ijele Ndigbo, Uwazuruike and BIM will visit Onitsha in solidarity with Chief Willie Obiano to tell him and Ndi-Anambra that the election must hold on November 18 as planned
