Labour Party has backed down on its electronic text message war with the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and has canvassed for ACN in its bid to sweep the polls in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria. In the last one week, Labour Party had been engaging the ACN in a bitter text message war, calling on Lagosians to vote out the party in the elections except Fashola, which it said it ed his re-election. In a volte face on Thursday, the Labour Party, which usually sent its acerbic messages under Lagos Voters apologised to former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for casting aspersions on him and called on Lagosians to vote massively for the ACN. In one of the text messages, the party said: “We are sorry for our previous messages. We just discovered Obasanjo gave N3 billion to our leaders in Labour to destabilise Lagos for PDP. Please, vote ACN.” In another text message, the party said: “Our story on oath taking actually came from Obasanjo but we found out it really happened between Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Isiaka. Our apologies to Tinubu on this.” The Labour Party ceased sending further text messages to Lagosians after it had apologised to Tinubu and drummed for the ACN. But this morning, it sent yet another text that read: ‘‘politics fuuny sef. Obasanjo dat made his daughter a senator is sponsoring campaign against Remi Tinubu. Bill Clinton was a president yet his wife later became a senator in America and wise people voted for her. Yeye people talk yeye talk. Only quality people recognise excellence. Vote wisely, vote ACN.’’ It was not clear as we were going to press, whether more texts will come on the phones. Earlier yesterday, Governor Babatunde Fashola’s campaign organisation replied the numerous text messages sent by the Labour Party. The governor’s reply to the text messages to Lagosians sent under BRV Text read: “I, Gov. Fashola (SAN), reject the impression of me created by the opposition-sponsored SMS messages. I am not a duplicitous person and I stand solidly by my mentor and hero of democracy, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. , a vote for PDP or Labour Party is a vote against me. Please, vote only for ACN candidates. Thank you, BRF.” Corroborating the text message that Obasanjo gave leaders of the Labour Party N3 billion to destabilise Lagos, Tinubu had recently at ACN campaign rally in Agege alleged that leaders of the Labour Party collected N3 billion from the PDP, which was the reason they pitched their tent with President Goodluck Jonathan. Earlier this week, politicians in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, embarked on a last ditch effort to woo voters through disparaging electronic text messages against their opponents. The unsolicited text messages flooded phones used by subscribers of major telecom service providers such as Globacom, MTN, Airtel and Etisalat. One of such messages sent by the Labour Party, LP, reads: “6.1 million Lagosians will vote to end Tinubu’s oppression. Vote Labour.” ACN swiftly countered the Labour Party text message with a message detailing some of Remi Tinubu’s public-spirited programme. Remi is vying for Lagos Central Senatorial seat. The message says: “Why D Lies? Oluremi Tinubu, OON, a committed educationist, from Spelling Bee to One-Day Gov Program. Raising Future Leaders – So Why the Lies. Vote Oluremi 4 Senate 2011.” The message was sent through Glo. Another message by Remi Tinubu’s campaigners also sent through Glo reads: “What’s the Fuss about Oluremi Tinubu? Is Hillary Clinton not the face of America today? Can’t Oluremi give effective representation? You be the judge.” ing the political campaign fray is the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola. Fashola’s message reads: “BRF Gov. I urge Lagosians to vote ACN at ALL levels. Any contrary msg (message) is from anti-Lagos elements. Vote wisely. Vote ACN! BRF.” On Tuesday Lagosians received a message contriving a conflict between Fashola and his predecessor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The message, described as satanic by ACN spokesman, Joe Ugbokwe, emanated from the Labour Party, as the sponsors “Lagos Voters” are the same group rallying votes for the Labour Senatorial Candidate, Dapo Durosinmi Etti. According to the message: “Fashola says No to Tinubu’s juju oath swearing. Let us all pray for Fashola’s protection from the Evil Tinubu godfather.” Reacting to what has was escribed as a grossly libelous statement, the ACN, through its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe described the text as the handiwork of saboteurs, saying he also received the text on Tuesday morning and asked the public to disregard it. He described it as diabolical. “Please in the name of God, ignore this Satanic verse that is coming from our enemies, traitors, thieves, vote robbers, rabble ros, and charlatans. After a fence-mending meeting with party stalwarts Tuesday at the Mainland Hotel in Ebute Meta, Governor Fashola also commented on the text message.“You just saw our meeting; there is no rift in our party; those are the agents of destabilisation and I will ignore it and I will want to urge everyone to be vigilant. This is the destabilisation and the trait and character of PDP posing as Labour Party.” —Kazeem Ugbodaga Copyright protected by Digiprove © 2011 P.M.News |

THOUGHTS OF RELIGIOUS CURIOSITY: THE ABRAHAMISM SOJOURN-A QUEST FOR TRUTH AND TRUE PEACE In the realm of theology one thing amazes me and that is the fact that amongst the billions of people on earth whom share themselves into over hundreds of religions, Christianity, Islam and Judaism seems to have the most similarities. These trio believe in Hell, Paradise, Judgement day, Angels, Destiny and even the same prophets starting from Adam, Moses to Jesus; though he is believed to be God in some part of the christiandom. These religions further amazes when I read through them and I see the same stories like the story of Adam and Eve, the story of David and Goliath, the story of Moses and Pharaoh, the story of Jesus and his Disciples and the story of Creation in days by God. Then the one basic question rings in my head as though it has a life of its own and that is: If these religions truly have these meeting points doesn't that mean in a way that they are ONE and that the connections probably broke at some points in history?, mmm, for God's sake they all talk about Jesus, infact a part or all of the Judaist's scripture is a part of the Christian's Scripture and all of both the Christian's and the Judaist's scripture occupies some parts of Islam's Holy Qur'an. Then what or where is the connection? Where is the lost-link of these great religions? Where in these books are these connections hidden? Within its inherent beliefs or without? Where or how can I unfold its mysteries? Abraham (Ibrahim) is said to be the father of faiths by these three religions. He gave birth to Ishmael (Isma'il) and Isaac (Ishaq) and prayed that God bless and make his progeny great leaders of men. Moses and Jesus have their ancestral father to be Isaac whom was also known as Israel while Muhammed's ancestral father was Ishmael (Ismail). The story as I like to construe it knowing fully well that it is the truth is that when Moses was sent to rescue the children of Israel of which he did, he eventually had a problem as to how to make the Israelites believe in his message, with time the Israelites tested his patience and when he could not take it any longer 'he broke the Tablet'. Moses died according to Deutoronomy at the age of 120 in the land of Moab whilst the Israelites wept for 30 days and 30 nights, without finishing his mission, but he told them not to despair that he was going to send the Messiah to them soon to complete his mission. Though there is a question as to whether Moses, the supposed author of Deutoronomy, could have validly talked about or written about his death as though he was at his funeral even though he wasn't there for he was already buried at the time, that question remains unanswered, but then that is not the subject of debate in this piece. So when Jesus came around it was as though he was working according to an already laid ideology. They asked him if he was the expected Messiah repeatedly and they sometimes sarcastically ened him to follow the Laws of Moses if he was truly the Messiah. In the famous story of Jesus and the prostitute the Israelites wanted to stone to death, Jesus told them not to stone her but they told him it was one of the Laws of Moses to stone prostitutes to death, he then said whoever is not guilty of her crime should cast the first stone, they sadly and reluctantly dropped their stones whilst asking if he has come to abolish or uphold the Laws of Moses, he told them he hasn't come to abolish the Laws of Moses but to complete them, as exactly prescribed by Moses. But the Israelite were drowned in their hatred for him so much so that they allegedly crucified him. Infact they had been that jealous of him from his birth when they maliciously alleged that there was nothing miraculous about Mary's pregnancy for she was a prostitute. When Jesus was born the first miracle he did was to talk in the cradle to the Israelites that Mary wasn't a prostitute afterall, that it was a miracle by God. The Jews saw this display and concluded that she is not only a prostitute but she has been able to possess her child with sorcery. So with utmost hegemony and pride the followers of Moses now known as Judaist did not follow and accept Jesus whose stay on earth was also short lived. Jesus promised his disciples that he was going to send to them a comforter whom shall be the spirit of truth, he shall say the truth in the name of the Lord and shall complete the mission. The 'Gospel of Barnabas' which was removed from the Books of the Bible some years After the Death of Jesus (AD) confirms the fact that Jesus said his name will be 'Ahmad' and then the disciples bowed and Jesus rose into the heavens before their very eyes. It should be noted that Aramaic and Arabic are not only sister languages but were founded by brothers of a divine father. The christ followers now known as Christians then started the search for the divine one amongst themselves but lo and behold as God has promised Abraham (Ibrahim) that He was going to make his children leaders of men, He brought the next prophet from the grand children of Ishmael (Ismai'l), Abraham's son. Muhammed as he is known had a hard time with his people because they couldn't cope with his proclamation of one God when they had over 300 gods. The Arabians tortured so well the early believers in the prophet's dictates that they had to flee to Abysina, present day Ethopia in Africa, where they sought temporary refuge from various mishaps like tying the hands and legs to four different horses and making them stretch to tear the followers of Muhammad or the thrusting of red baked rods or spears into the heart of an adherent follower of the Prophet. It was later that Yathrib present day Medinah in Saudi Arabia, the home of Jews and Christians, granted the prophet and his followers asylum because they had this little conviction that he was the next prophet, a conviction that made most of the Christians and Jews then become Muslims later on as they heard intensely the message of the prophet, a coviction that made them welcome a stranger to their mist with drums on their hands and songs from their mouth, a conviction that made them sign treaties of mutual habitation and a conviction that ascertained the fact that he was the final one that has been sent to complete the mission. Muhammad confirmed the Laws of Moses and the scriptures of the Christians and made it known that they were all sent for this main cause, the message of Islam. Some Judaists and Christians believed him then and some didn't believe him partially due to the then egocentric thought that if God was to bring a prophet at all it was suppose to be amongst the Israelites, sons of Isaac and not of the progeny of Ishmael, the second son of the Abraham. So now we have Judaism, Christianity and Islam respectively, each one of them promising paradise and condemning other faiths whilst considering them to be inmates of Hell, each one promising us death and Judgement day unlike other un-Abrahamic religions, each one telling us the same nature of God. Which one to follow now beholds, the first and second which promised better successors or the one that confirmed all the history, thoughts and jurisprudence of its predecessors? It blurs man's thoughts and curiosity the path to thread for each belief has its strings that holds down its adherent, whether miracles, spiritual satisfaction or just belief. Each of these beliefs though mutually the same in matters of intrinsic form has been able to convince its followers to expect a better tomorrow, a yearn every man craves for. Which path do we thread is the ultimate question, for if we 'assume' that amongst these trio is the real religion, then that means Hell and paradise exists, Hell?, if truly it exists and it is made of fierce fire which will be kindled with man and stones then I think am afraid and it beckons on me to search for the true religion amongst these trio not taking into consideration the other hundreds laying philosophically aloof. Which one? I ask, like a comely child in cuddling care of cradle at her mother's arms crying with tears flowing off her red soft silky cheeks? Which one? |

, IS SHE HUMAN, Let the sun be dead And the moon lay on bed Let the stars twinkle not For I see clearly this night Not with the aid of torch lit Or any man-made light But the light I see through Is one within her beauty flu As she glowed so bright Sparkling like rainbows Drenched in silveric tint Radiating my lonely heart Behold the God of beaut You have created on this planet A perfect being with eyes So gorgeous and milkily wet If at the end I marry you What food will I give you? What clothes will you wear? And what shelter will you bear? The food tilled from sand? The clothes that fades? Or the shelter that crumbles? Tell me my sweet maiden of beaut You are too priceless to be owned Too valuable to be seen Too pretty to be touched And too angelic to be human Now I wonder In the solitude of time Groping here and there Are you human? |

That was a poem I wrote to Mrs. Marie Fatayi-Williams after she lost her first and only son in the London Bomb Blast. Since today is used to celebrate mothers, you can send poems or greetings to them here. I dedicate that poem to all great mothers that are not celebrated, the ones that die while labouring and the successful ones, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, x x x |

MOTHERLINESS Motherliness I say, Is not only pregnancy, For prostitutes get pregnant, And give birth to fatherless sons. Motherliness I say, With keen love in her soul. Is about climbing mountains, So high and spiky, That even the dreadful warriors, Run cowardly far from. Motherliness I say, With care in her heart. Is about falling in valleys, So fierce and deep, That all tiara of trust, Have fearfully ran from. Motherliness I say, With peace in her mind. Is about swimming oceans, So wide and cold, That even fish friends, Have refused to swim. Motherliness I say, Is not only to give birth, With tiring labour of life, For animals also do. All around the globe now, I look for mothers, Like the predators hunting, Wildly for a plesant prey. Then suddenly I found this mother of love, That has attained immortality, Let every man hear me loud, YOU ARE A MOTHER. |

Well, the fact that they speak Yoruba or couple of other Nigerian languages might not be a complete reason to call some one a Nigerian, for there are places in South America and in the Carribbean where they speak Yoruba and couple of other Nigerian languages: something about South America splitting away from Africa or just Slave Trade, for they share the same choice of foods and gods with Yoruba's and other ethnic groups in West Africa, if your victims fall in either of these categories then am sorry, they aren't Nigerians But if you did satisfy yourself that they are Nigerians faking to be something else perhaps after checking their ports or something, then so be it. But all I know is no matter what, if Nigeria becomes Zimbabwe tomorrow, I pray it never becomes Zimbabwe, I will still stick my head high up to say AM A NIGERIAN |

So in a nutshell, the malaysian government should deport all Nigerians back including you, abi?, and you know why they will send you home?, because you said 'its high time our irresponsible government do somethings' and not 'did something(s)', you aren't representing Nigeria well also, typing grammatical errors in your lingua is not only embarrasing, its a deportable crime, ooh you have to be home Ayo, and did you type 'those thief's back home'?, gosh Just be rational Ayo, does Malaysia not have laws that criminalises certain acts?, Yes, thay do, so if Nigerians commit such acts shouldn't they be punished?, Yes, they should, whether or not they are Nigerians is irrelevant, for God's sake we are the most populous Black nation in the World, do you think if Ghana were as much as 150 million we wont be watching Ghanians on CNN's 'Crime Fighter' segment?, ooh please Now dont get me wrong, am not saying Nigerians shouldn't be well behaved outside Nigeria or 'uphold her honour and glory', but that shouldn't make them Saints or Nuns and the fact that they are neither Saints nor Nuns shouldn't be a reason for them to be deported, WE MUST LEARN TO LIVE WITH EACH OTHER IN PEACE, For God's sake where should the Tutsis and Hutus be deported to after the hideous genocide, where should the Murderer's of Patrice Lumumba of the Congo be deported to or those of Walter Rodney of Tanzania?, that is why there are laws, to put everything in place, do you understand?, or should every Government just go about for the sole purpose of looking for miscreants to deport?, |
