The main structural elements of buildings are columns and beams. How many bungalows have you seen collapse even though it's the same 'sub standard blocks' that are being used to build them? The problem of building collapse is most times as a result of improper reinforcement of beams or columns, poor concrete mix, inadequate foundation base or poor designs by the engineer which the contractor/ builder fully relies on and not making proper checks, thinking the design is perfect. Almost all the time the problem is not blocks bro.

Be informed that blocks dont usually serve as structural especially in multi storey buildings. They, most times serve as partition . Which explains why there are different sizes of blocks. It also explains why we have buildings whose fabric are made of glass and other materials. Blocks pay very minute role in structural stability.
Issues such as substandard materials especially reinforcement rods, poor concrete mix ratios, poor supervision, wrong structural calculations, overloading are culprits in building collapses.
It is therefore important to state that our monitoring agencies need to do more in of ensuring quality rather than their usual attitude of collecting bribes and turning blind eyes to poor construction processes.

No no no. Blocks doesn't in anyway act as reinforcement to a building, even if they give way the structure under or above it is still expected to stand. Their sole purpose is to act as a fortified partitioning and coverings. The main strength of building especially storey building is the, foundation type and depth, steel reinforcements and the concrete casting.

i 've been residing in aba for d past 4 years now. pls help me to beg abia state govt. to fix roads and to clear all d dirt around. i don't critisize and im not tribalistic, i no get time, my own is to make money, i don't compete with dem. cos dey always think they are right all d time. d funniest thing is abia state receive more allocation from fed. govt more than some states in d Southwest. dat guy will manage to fix road i. e faulks rd. within 6 month d road don spoil, refuse to pay salaries for more dan 8 months, health workers and lecturers inclusive. i don't speak against a plače i earn my living, abia is a Blessed state they r accomodating and nice ppl.dey r so industrious. as early as 5.30am dey don open chops in d streets.they have nice food and soup cos i too like food. dey r also religious ppl. i even get Light here West, even more dan most areas in lagos self. na only Rd b d problem, dey have been neglected, no presence of fed govt here, all d fed govt Rd dat link aba are in a dillapidated state. going to ph from aba will take u 4 hrs. a Journey of 45 mins if d Rd is good. I like d place and they r good ppl to me. but d problem is an average ibo man won't see any good about other places where he earn his living, dey always critisize. i used to notice dis when i dey for lag. dey should try and adjust. every tribe get good and bad sides. dey should try and speak about some good sides of other tribes. i don stay for north b4 dey have their good and bad side likewise west. B4 aba is one of d most dirtiest town ive ever visited but now there is a significant improvement in d clean up. JUST TRY AND SEE SOME GOOD SIDES OF OTHER TRIBES OR PLACES

I and my friends left nysc together, same state, started life together, manage in one room for lagos, we use to lap each other in d bus, sometimes we wait for molue to full and standing, things were so hard. we did almost everything together, we went to d same school, ppl thought we are brothers, im from ondo state he is from Delta. Years later we left d Company we were working b4 nd got a better one with good pay but different coy. He decided to get married and build a house but i chose to buy a car, further my education, invest in bussiness etc so many times i lost in d business but i don't care .
