Kengali is among the finest brains we have on NL.. Am already dubbing your feasibility analysis on the Onitsha Port for onward transmission.. The fact is that GEJ will make Onitsha Port international designation but whether now on in next tenure is what I don't know. I have overheard it muted in the Ministry of Transport. 1 Like |

moyinoluwabun: is there any proof that the election was rigged. Don't think there's any record of ballot snatching anywhere. Let's try to be objective. All the political party were guilty of attempt to rig and they also all try to induce voters with money. Good point there..God Bless you for being sincere with this thread. The same Jega told them, bring evidence. There was no report of killing, violence etc anywhere in the state, this show how enlightened Anambrans are. In addition to that, FG has approved the construction of International Cargo/enger airport for Anambra. Of which the land has been acquired and compensation fully paid by Obi. That was among the "7 pillars of development' Obiano was referring to on infrastructures and development of the airport to aide the emerging oil and gas economy of Anambra. KenGali: |

Abagworo: What is your business with what happens in Anambra? Forget Anambra, because we all know its a success story. Why not spend half of the time to show us what your Okorosha did with the over 200billion he borrowed. Up till now we have not seen a single project he completed with all the money. |

Abagworo: We watched and read all this happen and it is recorded in the archives of the internet. Obi was jealous of Rochas and knew that Rochas would probably be the man from the Igbo area in the merger. That informed his late minute withdrawal alongside others. Victor Umeh lead the APGA-APC talks only to much later change sides in a plot to discredit Okorocha probably because he was promised something rosy by Jonathan. You use every opportunity to expose your stup1dy. How on earth will Obi be jealous of Okorosha? Tell me one reason? Obi was responsible for Okorosha becoming governor of Imo state today. Okorosha was virtually living in Awka during the time he was kneeling and begging Obi to hand him APGA ticket. How long has your Okorosha been in the party (APGA) to determine who will take the party to any merger whatsoever? How could somebody that begged to be given ticket now turn out to be the leader of the party? Obi is not in any competiton with Okorosha, even the APC people knew that what Okorosha is bringing to the table (Imo state) is nothing to them as an impact economically and otherwise, that was why they could spend a fortune and do everything possible to have Anambra which they eventually lost. Which they knew if won by them would give them major boast in the heart of Igboland. But as it stands now its GEJ till 2019. APC knew that if they could get such mega states of Lagos in SW, Rivers in SS, Anambra in SE and Kano/Kaduna in North then thy would have started the journey to the Aso Rock. Stop your foolishness How did you think Obi will take APGA to merge with the Islamic-Yorobar APC? That was the last thing he would do. 2 Likes |

IKEMBA NNEWI: Chino, you dont have to take everything offensive. I'm sure if you looked @ warri pikins comment objectively, you'd be able to decipher his reasons for not wanting to leave in Onitsha. Onitsha suffers from same problems as warri i.e congestion, pollution, and lacks serenity. Besides GRA,American Qtrs and other high brow areas, you and i know virtually every other part of Onitsha is an open Market. Yes I understand your point Inno. The perception has to change because the city has changed a lot from what it used to be to something quite better. Most cities as Lagos, PH, Onitsha, Kano, Warri etc has something in common- population the level of economic activities, but that does not mean that there are no low-density areas in those cities which houses the rich. |

Abagworo: My friend get out from here. There are thousands of NL threads that has shown what Obi has done from: education, health, employment generation through industrial drive, urban/rural development, among others. Obi achieved all these without borrowing a dime for 8years. Its only a financial guru and a magician who can do that. For 3years now nobody has seen a single project completed by your dullard okorosha despite having borrowed over 200billions naira. On my way back from PH to Awka recently I saw the mess in Owerre and Orlu, I took the pictures am only waiting for the right time to unleash it, but don't push your luck either. From the pictures I have all the roads the clown started for the past 3yrs has been abandoned and contractors owed hugely, so where has he kept the money? Abagworo: Now you are digressing...what about the handsome? lol, from the video you posted, you can really tell who is a clownish talkative. So where did Okorosha stole the show ahead of Obi? What has Okorosha used his youthful nature to do? He used it to defraud the poor people of Imo state. Obi is decent, handsome and more acceptable in Anambra and SE in general. You cannot even say the same for Okorosha even in his Imo state talk more of SE. Above all Obi far more learned than the ordinary Okorosha. 2 Likes |

Abagworo: People are busy writing lies against a man who has a good heart. Some people write out of jealousy while others write out of ignorance. We'll all travel to our various States this season and just like last year, pictures will emerge from various parts of the State for what has been done. The enemies are busy looking for what has not been done or condemning ongoing projects that have only lasted 2 years. No Governor that embarked on massive road projects in 2007 has completed 80% in 2013 including the rich Akwa-Ibom and Rivers State. If Rochas projects have reached 50% in 2 years then it means he'll complete them in only 4 years which is a record time by Nigerian standards though. Why do you like displaying your foolishness all the time..? Between Obi and Okorosha who is more beautiful, looks decent, appealing etc..? Check the pictures below and call result: Obi looks decent, beautiful and appealing while Okorosha is more or less like one aboki in Jumper.. Of course I heard his paternity was traced to Taraba state, no wonder he looks like an average Hausaman. On the issue of oratory, Obi is far more educated and exposed than Okorosha. The only thing I found out about Okorosha is that he is a talkative who talks without making sense. 1 Like |

You are full of sh1t and does not know what good governance is about. In your warped and shallow dirty mind development does not go beyond repaving an existing roads. Chima_Agbalajob: Yes, bro people like abagworo should be banished if Igbo land will have genuine peace and development devoid of rancor and unhealthy competitions. Go through abagworo posts over time you will realize that in most cases he will start an e-war and expect people to align with it, but I equally learnt to swiftly attack him where necessary to make sure that I whip him into line. On your comment concerning airports why should a non viable state like Imo own an airport whereas economically viable states as Anambra and Abia does not have? It is only in Nigeria that you see such madness. And you are suggesting to them to use it and make viable whereas they do not benefit from its revenue. I have kept saying it let all the states develop at its own pace. If any state which feels that it has capacity to develop an airport let it go on with it and not for some states to build an airport with intention of tapping human and material resources from other states. In the case of Anambra the approval has been given and site for the International Cargo airport has been acquired around Otuocha axis. I will posit that each state should develop at its own pace without having to wait for any other. That is why America is the most developed country in the world. |

Controversies surrounding the November 16 Anambra State governorship election continue at the weekend with three principal candidates in the elections rejecting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to go ahead with a supplementary election in the state. Ifeanyi Ubah of Labour Party (LP), Chris Ngige of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Tony Nwoye, tly condemned the INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega’s pronouncement, insisting that they would not participate, as they are set to boycott the supplementary elections. Jega, after a meeting of the commission on Friday, addressed journalists and announced Saturday, November 30 as the date for the Anambra supplementary election. He cited the inability of the political parties to provide substantial evidence to outright cancellation of the process, as a validation for the refusal of the commission to cancel the entire election. In a swift reaction to Jega’s claims, the candidates told Channels Television correspondent, Lanre Lasisi, that they have provided sufficient evidence to convince INEC that the entire exercise was a sham. “As far as we are concerned, we have rejected the supplementary election fixed for November 30, and we are not part of it. “We advise the Independent National Electoral Commission to save the resources for that election, but they can go ahead and announce the APGA candidate as winner of the election, we will be more comfortable with that”, Ngige, APC candidate, said. However, Northern socio cultural group, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has said that INEC has failed Nigerians in its conduct of the Anambra governorship election. But, it submitted that it is not enough to write off the commission’s managerial competence. ACF National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani, in a chat with Sunday Independent, said as long as the election could not produce a winner, more so, that there has to be repeat of the elections in some polling units due to managerial imperfections, “it would be morally preposterous for any one to say INEC did a good job in the conduct of the last elections in Anambra State.” He stated further that in the past, many people, both within and outside the country, had rated elections conducted in states like Edo and Ondo as “fair and acceptable”. ACF opined that the national election body should be encouraged to improve. On the issue of rigging, Sani emphasised that it is quite easy to curb rigging and irregularities in elections if politicians and entire Nigerians can shun money politics and imbibe the culture of patriotism as well as positive attitudes. He observed that elections are supposed to help produce acceptable and good leaders, but the reverse is the case in some parts of the country. On whether or not the whole election should be cancelled as being clamoured by some activists and people, he stressed that the law does not permit INEC to cancel elections after results have been announced. However, APGA has hailed INEC’s decision to conduct supplementary elections on November 30. APGA National Chairman, Victor Umeh, said the INEC position has vindicated his party’s stand that the elections were credible. He also accused APC, which has been leading the campaign for the cancellation of the results of the election, as playing Alaye politics. Umeh berated APC and other proponents of cancellation of the election, insisting that they are enemies of democracy. He said: “By leading this type of campaign, APC has shown clearly that it is an Alaye party; it is ready to destroy anything if it cannot get it. “It is dishing out the propaganda that the election was manipulated, because the people of Anambra rejected it at the election”. He continued: “It is now clear to Nigerians that APC is a violent party, it is ready to undermine critical institutions in the bid to achieve a self serving agenda. “It is worrisome that this is the kind of culture APC is bringing to the political space. “It is only when it wins that an election can be considered free and fair, this type of politics is a big threat to democracy. “APC did everything within its power to rig the election, including sending hundreds of thugs to Anambra. “But, it was not lucky, as security operatives nabbed the thugs on their way to Anambra. “I laugh when people like Ngige is coming out to shamelessly talk about election rigging. “In sane society, somebody like Ngige would not be allowed to contest election. “He rigged himself into office in 2003; he enjoyed the mandate that was not his until the courts sacked him. He thinks that everybody behaves the same way. “APGA has always believed in people’s power, we won in Imo State decently in 2011, we won in Anambra on November 16 decently and we hope to win the entire South East in 2015 decently. “APC is merely crying wolf. We won in 16 local governments, we had two thirds in almost all the councils. “Those who are seeking for cancellation know that Anambrarians rejected them roundly”. In a related development, there are strong indications that PDP candidate, Tony Nwoye, would be heading for the courts to contest the outcome of the election. Sources close to Nwoye, who spoke to our correspondent, said Nwoye’s decision to challenge the outcome of the inconclusive election, was borne out of the fact that the party’s position, as enunciated by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, that the party has accepted the result of the election, was self serving and not a true reflection of PDP’s position. One source said Metuh and Nicholas Ukachukwu, who lost the PDP governorship ticket to Nwoye, were bosom friends, and because of the way Nwoye roundly defeated Ukachukwu to get the PDP ticket, Metuh took it personal and never wished Nwoye well. “That is why even when INEC was saying that the election was flawed, Metuh, without consulting Nwoye or the PDP chairman, Bamanga Tukur, quickly said the election was free and fair and that the PDP has accepted its outcome,” Sunday Independent was told by a source, who pleaded anonymity. Meanwhile, Lagos lawyer and civil rights activists, Festus Keyamo, has ed those insisting that the election should be cancelled, instead of a supplementary election. He told Sunday Independent that the election was a complete sham and therefore did not merit any supplementary poll. “The election in the first place was a complete disgrace. It was a complete shame. “Therefore, there should be a complete cancellation of the election. There is no need for a rescheduled election; there should be a completely new election”, he said. |

The Presidency on Friday rejected calls by some individuals, groups and political parties for the sacking of the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega over the inconclusive Anambra governorship election. Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH in Abuja, assured Nigerians that President Goodluck Jonathan would not sack the INEC boss. While describing the call for Jega’s removal as laughable, Gulak said Jega, as far as the inconclusive election was concerned, did nothing wrong to warrant his removal from office. He accused the opposition All Progressives Congress of allegedly causing confusion by importing thugs into the state from Lagos and Osun states. The presidential aide wondered whether those calling for the sacking of the INEC boss were conversant with the provisions of the constitution, saying the President cannot single-handedly sack him without the approval of the Senate. Gulak said, “The call is very laughable. It was the APC that ‘imported’ thugs from Lagos and Osun states. Security operatives arrested them and we all saw them. “The APC people cannot be beneficiary of their own bad acts. So on that, the President will not sack Jega. “I wonder if those making the calls are familiar with the provision. Jega can only be sacked through the process that he was appointed. The Senate must approve such decision before it can be carried out.” Gulak spoke even as calls for Jega’s removal polarised civil society groups and a group of political parties. The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties demanded Jega’s immediate removal over the governorship poll. CNPP’s call received from the Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen. However, several civil society groups including the Voters Assembly, the Civil Liberties Organisation, Spaces for Change and the Campaign For Democracy described such calls as hasty. Spokesman for the CNPP, Mr. Osita Okechukwu told SUNDAY PUNCH, in a telephone interview in Abuja that Jega should either resign or be sacked. According to him, Jega could not be trusted with the 2015 elections because he had shown lack of capacity in conducting “a small election” in a state with all the human and material resources at his disposal. He noted that Anambra State did not pose the kind of logistical challenge other states were likely to provide, yet the Jega-led INEC failed in spite of “all the resources deployed.” Okechukwu said, “Over 20,000 security agents were deployed; INEC will not have the luxury of deploying such a number of security agents to all the states in 2015. “We are asking for his resignation or removal because it is either he is grossly inept or grossly lacking capacity or he is complicit; either of them is dangerous for 2015. “If he has any of these features, it is dangerous for him to preside over the 2015 general elections. Imagine a situation where voters in Kano, Lagos, Aba, and Port-Harcourt, come to the polling station in 2015 and then their names are deleted from the , can you imagine the mayhem?” He also said it was instructive that there were only problems in the strongholds of the candidates other than that of the All Progressives Grand Alliance. Speaking in a similar vein, National Convener of the NPAPB, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, said, “I fully endorse calls for the immediate sacking of Jega. There will be no election in 2015 with Jega as INEC Chairman. He should be fired, the entire INEC should be disbanded. All the National Commissioners and the Resident Electoral Commissioners should be fired.” He suggested that the electoral law should be amended to allow citizens, civil society groups and other stakeholders in democracy to have a say in electing and confirming the chairman of INEC and all the National Commissioners and Resident Electoral Commissioners. Mohammed said it was a travesty that the President, who was going to be judged by the conduct of INEC, was the same person given the responsibility of appointing the INEC chairman and all commissioners. He stressed, “It is undemocratic; it is also plain stupid and irresponsible to ignore. “The overwhelming majority of Nigerians, whether it is the civil society, political parties and other stakeholders in our democracy, who are going to be affected by the decisions of INEC, ought to have a say in who becomes the chairman and those who become commissioners.” Some civil society groups that monitored the election, however, described the call for Jega’s removal as too hasty, because the obvious lapses during the Anambra election were not directly Jega’s fault. The Transition Monitoring Group, a coalition of civil society organisations, said there was no evidence that Jega connived with anybody to sabotage the election. Speaking for the group, the Chairman, Voters’ Assembly, Moshood Erubami, said, “We don’t believe Jega should be removed. He has not shown in any way that he connived with anybody to sabotage the Anambra election. I don’t believe Jega will do that. INEC made efforts to conduct a free and fair election but it didn’t consider certain human factors that ended up sabotaging the process.” The Civil Liberties Organisations on its part said it would only call for Jega’s removal, if those found guilty of the lapses during the election go unpunished. The Executive Director of CLO, Ibuchukwu Ezike, said, “We do not the call for the removal of Jega. He has done a lot to attract the confidence of many people, including the international community. “What happened in Anambra was insider sabotage. The fact that INEC itted publicly that its staff did it shows an air of credibility on the part of Jega. “If at the end of the day those found guilty are not punished or disciplined, we will call for Jega’s removal, because, then, he would have become a collaborator.” Also, the Spaces for Change said removing Jega now would be a mistake because a new chairman of INEC would not be experienced enough to conduct 2015 elections. The Executive Director, Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri, said, “I think that call is hasty because in as much as we are unhappy with what happened in Anambra, we know that democracy is an ever-growing process. INEC is a big institution. Jega has gained a lot of experience in the act of managing election in Nigeria for a number of years. All that experience cannot be thrown away just because of a single mistake.” In her submission, the President, Campaign for Democracy, Joe Okei-Odumakin, agreed. She said even though the INEC chairman itted that there were some irregularities in the election, the problem with electoral processes was institutional and not about individual. She said, “There is no doubt about it, we will always have bottlenecks during elections and the room for improvement. “One cannot throw away the baby with the bath water; we should always give room for perfection. I don’t subscribe to the idea that Jega should be sacked. “Any INEC official that has collaborated with some forces, which has caused this colossal waste of time and resources by sabotaging preparations made by INEC should be made known and brought to book.” Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, stated that Jega’s removal would not guarantee fair and free polls. He said the crisis was beyond the individuality of Jega. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria added that the mistake Nigerians made was that Jega’s appointment was celebrated, while all the indicted electoral officers in the commission were not removed. Falana said, “There is institutionalised rigging machinery in INEC, solidly erected. It is not a case of incompetence or negligence but that of a system that is solidly erected on fraud and manipulation. “During the 2011 general elections, embarrassed Jega postponed the entire exercise due to inadequacy of materials. In Edo State (2012 governorship election), Oredo Local Government with the highest voting strength was starved for electoral materials. In Ondo State (2013), the voter was also said to have been tainted. As currently constituted, INEC is not in the position to conduct credible elections. It has to be totally overhauled and restructured in line with the recommendations of the (Justice Muhammed) Uwais . |

Chima_Agbalajob: The Greenwood city construction has taken off in Awka with a massive dual carriage ring roads. This will create another city within the city. Even the urban masterplan has taken off, because I have seen demolition and road expansion going at Amawbia bye- and its environs. The same urban expansion and renewal is going on in Onitsha also. Joe-Martins Uzodike, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, on Wednesday, announced that the state government has approved N10.6 billion for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of some roads in the metropolis. The commissioner disclosed this to journalists at the end of the council’s meeting in Awka. Gov Obi According to him, the construction of access roads at Green Wood City, Awka, was awarded at the cost of N3.6 billion, while the Umueje-Aguleri Road would cost five billion naira. Uzodike said Onitsha-Obosi and Nkpor roads would cost two billion naira, adding that other roads billed for re-construction include a 1.5 km road from MINAJ-Nkpor-Obosi Road, Army Barracks gate-Onitsha-Asaba dual-carriage way. He listed the others as Azubuike Street to Limca Road, Onitsha, Ezeabor, Nanka, Isionye and Enugu Ozalla streets to Nkpor Junction. The commissioner said the roads would be completed within 18 months. Uzodike also revealed that the sum of N350 million was approved for the completion of a tourist centre at Agulu Lake as well as N750 million for the 50-room Onitsha Hotel expected to be completed in nine months - See more at: http://thebusinessdispatch.com/anambra-earmarks-n10-6b-on-road-reconstruction/#sthash.PKT1DOou.dpuf |
