� Antonio Conte sacked by Chelsea

Chelsea have sacked Antonio Conte on Thursday.

According to Sky Italia, Conte has been informed he is no longer the club’s manager.


The Italian has been in charge for two seasons, winning the Premier League in his first campaign and the FA Cup in his second.

However, a number of clashes with prominent of the club’s board meant a long-term stay was never on the cards.

Chelsea have long been linked with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri but Conte returned to the club’s Cobham Training Ground this week as no deal to replace him with Sarri was yet in place.

Now that Conte is sacked, the arrival of Sarri is thought to be imminent.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has named Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
The commission also named Mr. Alabi Ebenezer Omotayo as his running mate.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has directed all tertiary institutions that have conducted Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) to immediately refund money taken from candidates, Guardian reports.
In a statement issued by Deputy Director Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education,
Ben Bem Goong , Adamu declared that post-UTME examinations already taken are null and void; threatening that any institution caught still conducting the examination under any guise would be sanctioned.
This is coming weeks after the Federal government scrapped the Post-UTME saying that it has confidence “in what JAMB is doing”. Click here if you missed it.
Those who have already d for the conduct of the Post-UTME under any guise should stop the exercise immediately as any university caught conducting Post-UTME will face appropriate sanctions. If any tertiary Institution has already conducted Post-UTME, such an exercise stands annulled and money taken from such candidates must be refunded immediately.
The ban is with immediate effect, and under no circumstance should any institution violate the directive.
Any educational institution after secondary education is regarded as a tertiary institution. Therefore all tertiary institutions, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, Universities or by whatever name it is called after secondary education must be subjected to ission through the JAMB. At the end of probationary ission by JAMB, the candidates can be cleared (screened) for final ission. For any institution with a shortfall in ission, such institution can revert to JAMB for supplementary ission.
Clearing in this case (screening) entails only the verification of certificates of the candidates, JAMB scores, and any other physical examination to ensure that such candidates are not cultists. After this, the candidates are qualified for matriculation. Such screening should be at no cost to the parents or students and should be done upon resumption in order to avoid unnecessary travels in search of ission,” the minister said.
Adamu said that subjecting secondary school leavers seeking ission into tertiary institutions to too many examinations in one year is traumatic, exploitative, and absolutely unnecessary.
He directed the National Universities Commission (NUC) and appropriate departments in the Ministry to communicate the directive to relevant agencies and institutions to ensure strict compliance.

How many pentecostal bishop will agree to do that? Multiple explosions suspected to be Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) has rocked Damaturu, the Yobe State capital while sporadic gunshots engulfed the city of troubled Maiduguri on Monday morning living many residents trapped in their houses for fear of their lives.

Damaturu is 135 km West of Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

This is even as another attack at Lassa town of Askira/Uba local government area of Borno state over the week end left 11 residents dead with Churches including the biggest EYN church and many houses burnt down by the Boko Haram sect.

Sources also said during the Lassa attacks, youth vigilante of the area confronted the sect this led to the killing of 41 Boko Haram and capture of 17.

The fresh morning attack of Today (Monday) which started at about 6am in Damaturu by terrorists were targeted at police and military formations as well as selected houses, a situation that sources said left many people dead.

Reliable source told our Correspondent that “the Police Mobile Base in Damaturu was one of the security formations that came under attack by insurgents”.
“As I am talking to you now, we are in serious confusion now, gunshots and explosions everywhere especially from the southern part of the city and people are fleeing,” said an embattled resident, Mallam Usmanu Iliya.

Another resident who did not want his name mentioned for security reasons said he was woken up by the gunshots and blast which started at about 6am, and he suspects Boko Haram may be attacking.
Another resident who could barely speak as he was panting simply told our reporter that “We are running for our lives…we are under attack… We don’t know where to hide, the shooting is all over….”.

Although, as at press time, the attacks and confrontations by security operatives in Damaturu is still continuing, the actual casualty figure is yet to be ascertained.
Likewise, the sporadic gunshots that woke the residents of Maiduguri according to military sources “were not from Boko Haram sect, but a routine test of arms and ammunitions by security operatives in the state”. Even though, the development puts more fear on the minds of parents send their children to schools, while those who normally go out for work early in the morning could not do so.

Meanwhile, residents of Lassa over the week end reportedly resisted the attack on its community by engaging the attackers with locally made guns, bows and arrows.

Lassa is predominantly a Christian community in Askira Uba council area of Borno state which is under control of Boko Haram sect.

Ali Mamza, a resident of Lassa town and member of the local vigilante group told reporters that,“If we flee today, tomorrow we will continue to flee and these murderer would continue to kill. If we had fled they would have killed many people. I think our decision to fight yielded as it is better that few people were killed than for hundred to be killed. We will continue to encourage ourselves, because they would keep coming, we cannot run any longer.” He said.
