Thank you so much for your response, I am grateful
Jeboy:
Let me help.

There is a timeline to applying for PGWP once an Intl Student graduates and this happens once in a lifetime. So if you enrol in the PGD programme when your hubby is entitled to PGWP, he has to utilize the PGWP e lse he will lose it for life and not be entitled to another one in future. So better you allow him utilize it while you look for a Masters programme you can use to convert him to SOWP when you re enrolled or have graduated should his PGWP expire and he hasn't been able to get PR or another work permit. PGD is not Masters wether it's done or University or College.

Please I need your input on my issue

For context, my husband is currently studying for a one-year program that ends in December. His PGWP is one year, and to extend our stay, I am considering pursuing a postgraduate degree in my field.
Now, my questions are:

1. We saw a digital marketing post-graduate diploma at a university( Considering that it is a postgraduate program but IN A UNIVERSITY,) is it advisable to go for this post-graduate diploma considering the no dependants policy, will it be diff because it’s a university?

2. I don’t understand how this works. When I start this postgraduate diploma or an MSc program, what will be my husband’s status (When my partner is starting his PGWP, and I am also pursuing a program)?

Would he be on SOWP or how would that work?

I’d appreciate input, advice and recommendations

Visa Alert! Visa Alert!! Visa Alert!!!

My SOWP application was approved and my medicals, eligibility and everything was updated the same day.
I and my husband got married after his visa approval and we knew that might pose a lot of problems for us, so, we attached a lot of documents for proof of our relationship.

A separate SOP for proof of our relationship
Our wedding certificate
Pictures while we were dating
Email exchanges from the year 2019
Financial transactions from both of us since the year 2019 till date
Whatsapp chat exchanges
Screenshots of my husband's client information when he applied to show my pictures and pictures of US
Pictures with our parents
Pictures of us hanging out
Pictures of us on my graduation
Pictures of our pre-wedding shots
Pictures of us in the house
Pictures of us at the airport on the day he travelled
Screenshots of us on video Calls after he got to Canada
We added letters from our parents
My mom's and father-in-law’s National ID cards

NOTE: We didn't add any of our wedding pictures(the photographer messed it up)

For our Proof of relationship SOP
We added a column explaining to the VO why we got married after our visa approval (we answered the question we knew the VO might have)
We added another column telling the VO why we had an intimate wedding ceremony

Proof of funds
My husband showed proof of funds in his foreign
Note: I didn't show any financial documents from my end as my was a bit low.
Landed documents
Pieces of evidence to show he has frequent access to that bank
My husband showed his tenancy agreement and receipts.

We added some other documents but in all, it was just pure favour and mercy.
To everyone on the line for this miracle, God will come through for you.

Good morning everyone,

To God be the glory

My application was approved this March

I was a bit skeptical about applying because our marriage was barely three months before my spouse travelled.

I ditched the fear, applied and Got approved.

I'll share my timeline so couples in the same situation(recently married folks who got married after visa approval) can have something to work with for their application.

Each individual's story is unique and I believe IRCC treats it as such

Don't let anyone discourage you.

Give it your best shot

They didn’t scrap any fee

If you’d want VFS to send your port to you via courier after it has been stamped,

All you need do is to
1. Pay 23,000 naira to VFS (you’ll find the details of the payment, name and number on their website)

Once you make payment, print the receipt from your bank and add it to the documents in your big envelope before sending the port in the first place.

Secondly, if you did your biometrics in Lagos and you’re sending to Lagos and you’re like a first timer sort of

You won’t be needing transmission fee

See

You can check VFS website for full information

SoteriaMo:
Fanstatic! thanks a lot for this. I'm gratfeul.

Did they scrap that fee people used to pay to the bank and provide receipt?

I’m sorry but you shouldn’t be asking this question in march na🥺

The policy will come into effect in September

You should be working on the application or planning to send it so as to buy enough time for your family before September.

It’s not late

Please start ASAP

Can anyone help with this?
Olayinkayyyyy: 8:10pm On Mar 12, 2024
Print out two copies of your international port( data page)

Print out your PPR letter

Take the slip that was given to you at the point of your biometrics

Your international port
Write your name, email address, and phone number on a plain sheet

Print out the consent form from the VFS page ( Fill in the second page and sign it) You need just one copy of the consent form

Arrange everything in a big envelope and head to any DHL or UPS close to you.

The address you're sending it to is

Canada Visa Application Center
The Manor,
Plot 110 iral Ayinla Way Opposite Treasure Garden Estate, Third Roundabout,
Lekki Phase I,
Lagos 105102
Nigeria

When you get to the DHL Office tell them what you want to do and they'll guide you further.

SoteriaMo:
Please does anyone have up to date info for port submission in Nigeria after PPR, or can you direct me to somewhere please. This is for visitors visa. Thank you.

There is no need to include that information, just present her work documents.

That information cannot serve as home ties because technically she can work from anywhere.

So, there's no need to mention the remote part of her work.

jayciekey:
Hello all, So I want to apply for SOWP for my spouse. She works for a Nigerian employer but her job is fully remote and earns 400k monthly. Do you think we should state that she'll keep working with the Nigerian employer while she's in Canada? Is this a wise decision?
Olayinkayyyyy: 7:22am On Mar 09, 2024
It’s part of your client information.

jayciekey:
Hello everyone, please I am trying to apply for SOWP but there is no specific section to POF unlike study permit. Please is this strange?

Am I to merge the POF to other documents to be submitted under Client Information?
Olayinkayyyyy: 1:05pm On Mar 08, 2024
I believe one of the reasons for the SOWP is to ensure that families are united. The Spousal Open Work Permit from time has been the easiest Visa to get. Just get your proof of relationship well documented and your sufficient proof of funds handy and you're good to go.

I believe the reason for the incessant rejections that Nigerians seem to be experiencing lately has nothing to do with food banks or no food banks, the major issue is with the recent policies on proof of funds.

Most folks are finding it hard to really understand how to put their funds in place coupled with the exchange rate brouhaha. Imagine putting forward an application for a family of 3 with the sum of 10 million naira whilst thinking that you've put forward a strong application but, in the real sense of it, that is barely 9,000 CAD.

Pending when the policy on the ban of SOWP for college students gets implemented, food bank or no food banks, as much as you're able to get proof of funds in place, you will get your SOWP.

Kurukuru:

Chinook is being used to process applications. In order for the Chinook to aid in the mass decision making, some flag indicators are assigned to applicants from some countries. One of the flag indicators assigned to Nigeria currently is the early spousal sponsorship. The truth there is that they don't believe all those big bank statements we are presenting to them due to the activities for some Nigerians who were given study permits in the past. Many students were seen collecting food from the food bank. These are the people who told the IRCC that they have sufficient funds for feeding and living expenses with big bank statements. Their belief is that some of you don't have the money you claim that you have, hence the rush to bring your spouse into Canada so that he/she will be working to finance your studies. As it is now, submitting a SOWP while you student is in first semester is a red flag for Chinook to flag

patronage. I’m glad it all came out positive.
Olayinkayyyyy: 9:05pm On Jan 31, 2024
Every application is unique hence, there's no generic time for a SOWP application. However, on average, I think it's between three months on the average. As I said earlier, every application is unique and the Visa Officers treat it on merit. Hence the disparity in the processing timing.

Please I need any answer
How long does SOWP application stay before getting a response?

Good afternoon everyone, I have learned a lot from the little time I've been here. Well done.

My question is that my husband is schooling in Canada, he's settled and has an apartment. I am planning to apply for my open work permit so I can him.

My salary is barely sufficient to show as proof of funds but my husband has enough funds to sponsor me.

Please, will the new proof of funds policy for student visa application apply to him

meaning does he have to show 20,000CAD alongside 5000CAD for me

How does it work, please

We are currently in a dilemma and confused.
Olayinkayyyyy: 2:49pm On Jan 19, 2024
Can a guru in the house answer this question please.

olutowo:

is my wife the primary applicant?
if yes, will she show the updated 20k(cad) by ircc?
