Good Day All, please i am haviing a serious issue wit my Lap top hp 6550b , anytime i am using it to mix with my VDJ software it will just short off automatically , although the battery is dead but plug it straight to the power cord and use it like that , but i have noticed that anytime i am in the middle of a mix the laptop will just turn off, as if they is power outage , i have taken it to ikeja and change a new motherboad because of this still the problem still persist, can anyone give me a clue of hoe to solve this issue as it is causing serious nightmare because of the volume of music in have in that laptop for my DJ gig - also the laptop doesnt get hot when ever i am using for mixing but it will just shut down unexpectedly.
Please i need advice on how i can solve this once and for all . i spent a lot on this laptop taking it to Ikeja for repairs and i am not too bouyant to get a new one ....Thanks

I just resolved the same issue on one of my laptop recently.
Open the back cover of the laptop,remove the RAMs, use eraser to clean the golden stripes on the edge of the RAMs. Replace it back and put it on,it works 90% of the time.
If it doesn't come up,one of the ram may be bad, remove the RAMs and replace just one and restart your PC,do it for the second RAM too,the bad one is the one that didn't come up. Manage the one slot for now and get a replacement for the second slot.

I just changed only the battery to a new one, No it did not fall into the water, if I charge the phone to 100% and start using it, the battery drains down fast and the phone becomes hot !..how can I remedy this so the battery will last.

My DIY Experience at Festac port Office

I think things have changed and the process for DIY at Festac was very easy. I filled out my form online, total spent was 26,000. Then I proceeded to gather all my documents.

-NIN slip( one photocopy)
-Filled and signed guarantors form(signed by a commissioner of oaths)
-Photocopy of the data page of your guarantor's port (some people forgot to take this along
-Original birth certificate and indigene cert with just one photocopy of each
-1 copy of your online application
-2 copies of your payment slip
-1 copy of appointment slip.
- Marriage cert for married women

I got to the office by 7:30 am, we had to wait till 8:00 am before the gate was opened and we were allowed to go in after they addressed us.

For DIY go straight to the servicom unit and submit your appointment letter (they did not open till 9:00 am thou).

Then go and sit down in the hall. They will your application. Ensure your NIN info is the same as the info you filled out online.

After they have verified, they will come to the hall to call your name, follow them to their office, where they will tell you how to arrange your documents, they will also ask to see the original copies. Then a file will be opened for you.

You will take this file to the capturing centre and tell them you want to submit for enrollment (do not the queue for those who are going in for capturing, you will be asked to stand up). Go back to the hall and wait for your name to be called for capturing.

When your name is called, collect your file and go for capturing. Viola.

I finished everything by 11:30 am.

Exactly..no more waiting..I could not believe my eyes, I came by 8.30 and captured by 11.45, reissue...everything is so coordinated....planning to do for my kids next month...i will recommend festac center for DIY's...you don't know what to do?....just ask any officer and you will be informed...

It’s usually not a good idea to park a vehicle for long periods without use especially if it’s not in a roofed garage or if you didn’t cover it with the regular waterproof coat cover.

Without use the rain and moisture wasn’t able to evaporate/burn off hence the corrosion. Rust is a very bad thing to machines.

i finally did the brake system. it was the brake master cylinder also known as the servo-brake, as posted by the second poster it got rusted so anytime I pressed on the brake pedal, air would escape from the rusted part of the cylinder giving a wooshing sound. I finally removed the bad cylinder and got a new one from Ladipo @ 10k.
Thanks for your candid advice.
I will post the pics of the rusted cylinder...the cause was that I packed the car for a year now without driving or warming it., so when it rained, droplets go into the engine hood and dropped on the cylinder and started rusting it.

Finally I collected my port today. However, I did get an SMS on Wednesday 5th, that my port was ready for collection.
I arrived there by 10am but the gates weren't opened till much later. I even feared they were not around.
After entering and submitting my enrollment ID, I went to sit for about 2 hours before they started calling names. The names being called were for those whose port were not ready. Some were asked to come next week Wednesday.
After that we continued waiting. An officer apologised that today they were few on ground and would take longer in sorting the ports.
Finally, about an hour later, they started calling names again for those whose ports were ready. I was called too. We proceeded to the collection room. It didn't take long and I was done. The journey finally ended.
I observed some things sha...

Observations:
1. Go with your old port if you are doing re-issue! They no send the man who was ahead of me and didn't bring his old port. They no listen to am. The man claimed he submitted his old port in the folder he opened...omooo... They told him to go and look for it. I don't know how that ended, I kuku commot with my own port jejely.

2. See, all these beliefs that you can't achieve something without paying your away is enabling corruption. Many of them are ready to do their job, but are tempted when people approach them begging them for favours in exchange of cash.
A lady begged one of them that she needed the port bla bla bla, so she wanted to 'fast-track' it. Omo, they'll take your money (many of us here would do same, maybe). Another woman with her kids walked straight into the collection office to meet with Mr. O...., Her port was in another bunch...(special candidates, I guess).

3. I met a guy who applied with 70k since June. They no see him port. He was frustrated and complained loudly, started explaining his story to those around (I pity am, but I dey laugh am for my mind. God knows if he'll read this). He was asked to come back next week. Indeed, he's a special candidate. He said he wanted to fast track his port.... Since June.... After 70k....LMAO. What happened was that the person who worked his port was not around to release it.

Conclusion
Let's collective stop this act of greasing hands. Appreciating for a job well done is welcomed, but let's exercise caution.
It's hard to say this but Nigeria will work and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Don't limit your search to only ExxonMobil and total there are other good oil servicing firms like sclumberger , Baker Hughes, Tenaris, FMC technologies to name a few ..do your research well...go to LinkedIn and create your profile and ask same question. send unsolicited connections to oil and gas professionals in LinkedIn as well human resources personnels..it might help.

2, I also have a question that has been bothering me for a while now, is it possible to be a contract staff in many oil companies, to me I think is good, they will only call when they need you and pay you well, even if one Bleep up, u still know that u have a place in other companies too and u won't be bothered
that question should bother you if you dont have anybody in these companies that will forward your name to the human resources for recommendation, even if you are exceptionally good, or unless you are from the oil producing communities who are sometimes given some slots, even at that you still need a strong recommendation.. or finally GOD is on your case.. but however, you can try to apply online on their websites and follow it up with serious prayer and fasting !!!
