Hello friend, thanks for sharing. I would like to ask if COVID-19 test was requested by the airline?

It was not a requirement when I travelled using Ethiopian last December.

Yteem:

My family flew with Ethiopian Air very recently and there was no issue. SOWP and study permit for children.

Please do well to write a letter of authorization for your wife to travel with the children since you won’t be there. They asked for a letter like that. It’s better to have it handy and they don’t ask for it than otherwise. Sometimes our people there can be over zealous in their activities.

FINAL PPR ALERT, it has ended in massive praises! Alhamdulilah!!

We received PPR for the remaining of my family earlier today and also got a travel restriction exemption authorization approval for my 2 year old son. After we waited for two weeks after the first set of PPR for my daughters, we decided to send their ports on Monday to Abuja. We did to avoid the pitfall of missing 30-days deadline for submitting ports. The ports were delivered on Wednesday due to Tuesday holiday. Counterfoil for the girls were updated on the portal Friday and DHL picked up stamped port same day - tracking shows it is en-route to Lagos. We woke up to receive PPR for my wife and son this morning, as well as a travel authorization for ONLY our son - since he applied for visitor and we also applied for the travel restriction exemption twice. The letter of introduction for the girls dropped too.

We are juggling many things right now and the logistics are crazy. I pray that everyone waiting for their PPR gets it soonest. I understand what you all are going through because I was in the same boat for over 5 months and I not unaware that several more have been waiting longer. Hang in there, be hopeful. Your time will come very soon. It has finally ended in praises. Many thanks to everyone who rendered assistance in one way or another on this platform in this journey. You are all too many to list but you know thy selves and the Almighty God know you even more. Your rewards will be in multi-folds and bountiful. Also, I am grateful for the emotional everyone provided all through the process.

Again, it has ended in praises!! Alhamdulilah!!

See updated timeline below:

15th May - Application submission with upfront medicals for 3 out of 4 (All 3 had April 2021 port expiry dates)
19th May - Medicals for Spouse and two kids (student permits) updated to ed
25th May - Wife completed bio-metric while kids didn't due to minor ages
3 months - Nothing; not even ghost update. Focused on port renewal process and NIN reconciliation wahala.
18th August - Sent Nairobi inquiry email and got normal auto-response immediately
19th August - Nairobi replied my inquiry saying the usual stuff - under active review & unable to say when to finalize
19th August - Applied for GCMS notes for all
26th August - Applied for written travel authorization exemption (WTRE) for all
4th September - Emailed MP office covering my residential area
5th September - Emailed MP office covering my school area
8th September - Senior Advisor (staff) to MP covering my house replied - " I should reach out in 2 weeks if I haven’t received anything......."
9th September - Eligibility review commenced -- no ghost update - just random and saw it
10th September - Received medical request for 2 year old son (who didn't do upfront medical since it was visitor visa for him).
10th September - 3 emails responses per travel authorization application - one shows son's WTRE is authorized & others tagged "courtesy"
17th September - Completed son's medical exam and ed result via webform and emails to Nairobi - no reply.
26th September - Son's medical updated to ed
6th October - Received PPR for daughters' study permit applications.
18th October - Sent daughters' ports to Abuja using DHL return service

18th October - Same day after I had sent 2 ports, the MP's office replied my umpteenth inquiry saying that "regarding the progress of requests, they are all linked and processed together. Verification of eligibility and medical results was accepted. The next step concerns the final decision which must be rendered (we do not have the date). Regarding your second question, I spoke with an IRCC agent who told me that you could send the 4 ports together by putting an explanatory letter explaining that it is easier financially and logistically to do like this and there shouldn't be any problem, but don't hang around in sending ports."

18th October - I replied MP's office that I had sent 2 ports and that I wouldn't want to risk sending all four because am not sure someone won't mix things up just because there was not PPR for 2 of the ports. In my experience, most people who work in customer service etc behave like robots lacking latitude to apply discretion in sensitive or unfamiliar situation. I didn't want anyone to use me as experiment.

22nd October - Daughters' profile showed counterfoil have been issued - visa stamped - expiry date is 4 months earlier than my own expiry date. No problem because that is valid for 2 years essentially.

23rd October - PPR for my wife and son dropped along with travel restriction exemption approval for my son & the girl's letter of intro.

The grace and joy shall go round by the special grace of God Almighty.

Gm house,
I am 36 year old lady with a child, am separated and I work in a bank. I have a bsc and MSc from Nigeria universities and got an ission to Brandon University for a masters degree sometime last year. I have been denied visiting visa in UK and USA in the past and applied for canada students visa last year may and was denied in September 2020. On the basis of no travel history, no strong hometie, inadequate prove of employment and the further stated that they are not convinced that I will return after my academic. I submitted prove of funds of my sponsor who is my siblings who works as a lecture abroad. I received my gcm notes in January.
Pls house I need help on what to do cos I intend to reapply next month and do not want to get another denial
Thanks for urgent response

Hi Helen, sorry about your denial. The main challenge to you app that I could identify was simply cos of the sponsor you included considering your age and work history. The question is if you are being sponsored, who takes care of your child? I would advise you to seek ways in which you could self-sponsor yourself and provide proofs.

Hello Nairalanders,

Please I need information about the Form A platform, especially from people who have paid Memorial tuition fees with it.

I mailed the cashier office yesterday and they recommend I use GlobalPay student platform to make payment. As it stands, I don't have any idea on how the platforms work.

I could really use the information now as the deadline for payment is so close.

Thank you.

Please google mun cashiers office, then click on methods of payment. It will take you to a list of available options to make payment, select wire transfer using globalpay. This later takes you to memorial page on globalpay where you input the amount you want to and get a quote which you will print and take to the bank to process your Form A.

Go to the bank with a copy of your previous (degree) certificate, port data page, letter of ission and letter stipulate amount you are to pay because bank will want to turn you down if you can provide evidence that you are actually paying for school fees. I will advice you speak with your office to handle it for you.

Were you able to get SIN or open an at the airport? Did the officer that issued your study permit take your finger prints?

There are limited services, you will be referred to the Canada services in your province or region for your SIN and application is submitted online. opening also took place online for me right in the isolation room with RBC Royal Bank of Canada. Finally, your fingerprints will be taken @ the port of entry before you receive your study permit

Hello house

Please did anyone who already travelled or planing to travel open a Canadian from here in Nigeria. From the rules of quarantine, I can see one is supposed to remain indoors for the entire 14 days, unless there is a medical emergency. So how does someone get food and groceries for the duration of quarantine? Apparently, it is advised one make orders with online transfers or make payments with cards instead of leaving your accommodation to a store to spend cash. That can attract a fine. I got cash with me but I just wanna have options.

Will appreciate it especially if folks under quarantine tell of their experience

Hello, experience could vary from institutions to persons. As for my school, accommodation (20cad per night) and feeding (19cad for 2meals per day) whave been included in our student , so you need not to bother yourself. Although, you can still order for meals outside if you desire.

As for opening of , the school @MUN have facilitated a virtual meeting that enables one to open without going to bank because due to COVID-19 protocols @ the Toronto airport, limited services are available which made opening of , getting SIN and buying SIM impossible. I practically asked of a bank and was told was not available though there are ATMs that you could withdraw from and you could still buy things with your Nigeria MasterCard and be debited the equivalent in naira.
I can only assure you that you will fine provided the school is the one arranging your isolation plan unlike if you have to get it done by yourself. In that case, if you have to arrange on your own; do come with indomie, garri, cornflakes but no milk to allow for survival until all is sorted out.

Still in the quarantine room and would be out on Christmas day.

I am wondering what else they want. I share the finance session of my SOP and please need help to compare this with result from IRCC complaining of Finance

Hi, I believe you have done a great job explaining how your available funds exceed your expenses but in my own view as as stated in the GCMS note, you could not convince the VO your genuine intentions because the inclusion of your uncle's is not sufficient enough.

The question is, were you able to link your relationship with him, did you explain how he generates his income, what responsibilities lies on him and did he provide a proof of his intention to sponsor you because for him to what to commit his hard earn money on you, it must either worth it or he get excess to throw away.

Lastly, I don't know what you feel in your family history. This also go along way to explain your intention because for me, you have what it takes to sponsor yourself than making claims that you will be living with someone there. I have only stayed a few days here and I can tell you that you need money to survive here and this people don't want you to stress yourself or put stress on anyone as well...... Just my own view to address your concern.

hello, any of the options is accepted. however if your school offer hostel accommodation, I think that would be a better choice because I have been in school residence since I landed and am enjoying my time in quarantine.

How are you coping with the timezone thing? It's 1:35am in Montreal and I'm awake. I slept using Nigeria time and I can't even force myself to sleep again.

Just to add to the items Rebecausoro listed, if you are destined to Montreal, please make sure you print your CAQ approval letter.

Shoutout to Obanidavid and Akannitommy cool.

Hello @Fratermathy, my colleague and friend all through the journey Lagos airport to Toronto. Rebecca has said it all. I am also cooling off now after the long wait to the flight to St. John's. Apparently, Rebecca was on the same flight with me till St. John's that I thought I was the only black man on board that very night.

Canadian are very friendly people I must confess, I had no stress, not even was my baggage checked. The protocol at the immigration was less than 10minutes for me. I was only asked if I have paid my tuition with receipt to show, arriveCAN on my phone and LOA. That's it, my study permit was issued.

Finally, at St. John's, someone was already waiting to pick me as assigned by the MUN Internationalization office who happened to be a Nigerian and a Yoruba man as well, easy was the ride as I found myself sitter alone in the owners corner of a 2018 Toyota Camry taxi.

Yellow card,
COVID test,
PTA or whether I should load open domiciliary and load with dollar and go with prepaid MasterCard
Any other hurdles

1. A friend who currently reside in Canada said, yellow card is not needed.

2. Covid test has already been dealt with, not necessary as well because of the mandatory 14-day self isolation on arrival into Canada.

3. The last time I visited the bank, I was told need to show a return ticket, however, if I can proof that I can't make a return ticket due to my length of stay better. another clause was that, if granted, I may have to wait until dollar is available which make no sense to me.

I just paid for the return of port yesterday after I received an email from VFS with the attached courier consent form. So I should receive the port soon before the close of work on Thursday.

As for IRCC notification, I got the email last week Tuesday at around 5:20pm.
