I read to my consternation on Times and on Nairaland that Wizkid was nominated for a Grammy Award for "his role in Drake's single, One Dance." I browsed through the Grammy nominations, which were unveiled yesterday by last year's Best New Artist winner Meghan Trainor, and there was not a single nomination for Drake's "One Dance" or Wizkid. Rather, what I saw there were nominations for Drake's album "Views." They are quite different scenarios. If a "record" or "performance" gets nominated, the nomination goes to all the artistes who performed the track. As we all know, Drake, Kyla and Wizkid were the artistes on the track, One Dance. However, One Dance was neither nominated as a record or a performance in any of the categories, hence Wizkid did not get a nomination. Secondly, if a "song" gets nominated, the nomination goes to the songwriters of the track, not the performers. As we all also know, the songwriting for One Dance was credited to Drake, Wizkid and a host of others. Then again, One Dance was not nominated as a song in any of the nominations, hence Wizkid was not nominated. However, the album that had One Dance in it, "Views," was nominated in several categories. But, that doesn't mean that all the individual tracks in the album were nominated. Rather, it just means that the album as a whole was nominated as a body of work. Herein, the nominations will go to the artiste(s), producers and the mastering engineers of the album. "Views" is Drake's album so he's the sole artiste. Wizkid did not produce the album and he also was not a mastering engineer. Hence, Wizkid gets no nomination again. There is so much misinformation going on in Nigeria and I wonder if it's due to illiteracy, pure mischief, the rise of the social media or the sheer laziness of our journalist in digging deep and getting their facts right. If you are still in doubt, visit any of these sites and find out for yourself if there's a single mention of Wizkid: http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7597556/grammys-nominees-complete-list-2017 http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-ms-2017-grammy-nominations-live-updates-20161205-htmlstory.html 4 Likes 2 Shares |

All these things are folklores and fairy tales. none of it actually happened. the so-called oraminyan existed around the 1300s and it is claimed that he is a grandson of oduduwa who created the Yoruba ethnic group. So, at the earliest, oduduwa existed around 1200 AD. Are you guys trying to tell me that the yorubas didn't exist until 1200 AD while civilizations such as Egypt, Nubia, Carthage, Rome, Assyria, Persia, etc has existed since 4000 BC?

The icon, general and freedom fighter was born on the 4th of November, 1933 in the northern Nigerian town of Zungeru to Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, an Nnewi businessman and one-time richest man in West Africa. He ed the Nigerian army in 1957, rising to become its first indigenous Quartermaster. Following the January 1966 coup that toppled Nigeria's maiden independent civilian government, Colonel Ojukwu became the military governor of the old Eastern Region. Following the failure of the Aburi accord in Ghana and the ceaseless pogroms of ethnic Easterners in some parts of Northern Nigeria, Ojukwu, in accordance with the demands of the elders of the Eastern Region, declared the Republic of Biafra and became its first leader. Overlapping the territory of the Eastern Region, the Republic was reabsorbed by Nigeria following a bitter civil war. Ojukwu ed away in the United Kingdom on the 26th of November, 2011. He was accorded one of the most elaborate burial ceremonies in the history of Africa by the Nigerian army, his Igbo people and the President Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government. He is widely considered a legend, icon and freedom fighter, especially by his native Igbo people who see him in the same light as the Americans see George Washington, the Britons see Winston Churchill, the Indians see Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi and the Chinese see Mao Zedong. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._Odumegwu_Ojukwu 20 Likes |

Chino and ImoRiver/Avagworo, please you guys should stop disgracing the Igbo race and creating non-existent strife and jealousy among us. In the real sense of it, there's nothing like an Anambrarian or Imolite. We are all Igbos, all other tags are figments of the imagination created by unelected and illiterate military juntas for political expediency. Please, Igbo is one and Igboland is one. Whatever affects the so-called Imolite affects the so-called Anambrarian, likewise the so-called Ebonyian or Abian or whatever. If there's progress in Imo state we all should celebrate it. Likewise if there's any progress in Anambra or Enugu we all should celebrate it. For we are one and of the same ancestry.
