GanagiBitrus:The military has chaplaincy services which cater for the spiritual needs of Muslims and Christians. Every Barrack has a Mosque, a Catholic Church and a Protestant Church(for all denominations other than catholic). The mosque is headed by an Imam who is a soldier. The Catholic Church is headed by a priest who MAY NOT be a soldier. This is dependent on the barrack type. If its a Division, you'll have a commisioned Officer as priest there. If its a Brigade, same thing. However, if its just a small regiment, it's most likely that a priest will be assigned by the Catholic diocese of that area. Maybe there are cases where Commissioned Officers head churches in smaller regiments, but I've never witnessed any myself. However, catechist must be a soldier. The protestant Church is headed by a Rev. The doctrines and form of worship of the protestant Church is in line with the Anglican doctrine. Commisioned Officers head churches in bigger barracks such as brigades while Non-commision Officers head churches in smaller barracks 1 Like |

bewla:Trailer accidents used to be frequent in Jos, the plateau state Capital until the Governor declared that no trailer would be allowed to enter or move about in the city until its past 7pm. Now they just queue up at the entrance of the state capital. When it's 7pm they move in and out. Same could be applied there 1 Like |

porthouse7:That person's sense of reasoning might be skewed, but when it comes to things like coup, you never can tell. First native president of Liberia, Samuel Doe, took over power after he and his fellow Non-coms executed a successful coup. He was only a Master Seargeant. 2 Likes |

Cutezt:The beroms and Taroh people sure stand against anything Islam but you see langtang people? They'll rather sacrifice themselves than allow even the slightest Islam infestation. Those two tribes have such disdain for Islam. |

Cutezt:Exactly! Anagutas weren't killing Beroms or vice versa. It's was purely religious. The origin of that crisis dats back to the problem set in motion by Babangida when he approved the creation of a new council presented presented him by the hausa elders of the present day jos North. Being a minority under the then Jos local government, they knew that the had very little chance at stakeholdership in the capital city of the plateau. With an independent council they now had a chance. Their growing population over the years would threaten the identity of the jos north natives in a local council ascribed to the hausas. The new LGA prompted the natives of the city to unionize and politicise their respective ethnic and cultural bodies and thicken the ethnic and religious lines. All those incidences incubated the 2001 crisis that followed after 1 Like |

This isn't an experience of death in anyway but an incident that could have gone horribly wrong at the slightest instant. I was cruising down the road with my friend's bicycle, top speed, back then in the barrack. I must have been 15 then, I think. The barracks had a mad road network so it was mostly a joyride until I got to a part of the road network where it was like coming down a hill. I couldn't hit the breaks because it wasn't working at all. My instincts said to veer off the road into the shrubbery but somehow I didn't make that move. See, up ahead, just at an intersection, a military truck had just pulled over and soldiers were everywhere at that intersection. I knew I was in soup. The bicycle was heading towards the military truck at top speed and any attempt at squeezing through the right corner at the intersection could still end up catastrophic. However, I managed and the moment I got In that corner without hitting any of the soldiers or the truck, I dropped my leg down as the bicycle slowed down a bit and braked so hard with it that the sound my slippers made attracted the attention of the other soldiers there. One of them shouted at me and threatened to size size bike. I just told him sorry and continued riding. |

SmartPolician:Electricity has improved in selected areas only, not everywhere. Now the real implications of the increase in cost of petrol and diesel is that it increases cost of food transport and industrial production expenditure which also affects the cost of goods and services in the market. I used to spend 2k for a journey of 2 hours earlier this year. Right now it's 6k. No be juju be that? 2 Likes |

I was on my way to work this morning when I saw posters of young Igbo men contesting councilorship positions here in Jos. I just smiled. If I had the chance I'll vote for them. If anything the Igbos have only contributed largely to the growth and development of the state. In one of the local governments here they drag population with the indigenes but not once has there been any social or political crisis between them. I think those fighting them in lagos are simply battling their own personal insecurities. Cos how can you sell land to somebody and then go out in public and cry fowl, that that person has stolen your land? 4 Likes |

Kenobsky:Exactly. Any barrack boys born in the 90s would testify to how different soldiers back then were built. They moved different. In my opinion the last wave of those breed are 79Na and 90NA. 2 Likes |

Once connected a red light will appear. When plugged into a socket the red light will go disco alternating between red, blue and green. When your battery gets full the light goes green. Shikenan. Battery Don full. But it takes longer than normal sha. Like a 2 hour charge duration can take 6 hours with this charger. Chai...Those days sha😄 1 Like |

goodnessme1:This is a sensible submission right here. This Ekpa guy is the worst thing to happen to the Biafran struggle. I countering one useless guy here on nairaland who was praising this evil guy's actions and the guy abused me. I then told him that may the fate of all those who fell victim to Ekpa's antics visit him and his family. The guy never responded. They claim to be fighting for their people but are still the ones putting their fellow brothers and sisters in untold hardship. Meanwhile the people they claim to be fighting against are in a far away region of the country living their lives without glitches. I don talk tire . Nothing concern me again. Thank God I do leave Owerri |

Maysdevices:Something smells fishy but at the end of the day, yes, igbo people are behind this. It's simple. The east has been a bit unstable in recent years. APC want to use that as leverage to prevent the people from coming out to protest. They the Ndigbo on their payroll to do something. Their Ndigbo people hoodlums to do their thing. Shikenan. D3rd:Are you aware that the children of lots of wealthy northerners never schooled In Nigeria? The guy I mentioned did all his schooling in Egypt, only came back home during the holidays. We got to meet during his undergrad and like most I thought he was uneducated until I got to know him better. I worked at a private school dominated by Muslims from Northern and western extraction. I'm talking about 99.9%. These kids couldn't string a correct sentence to save their lives. But most of them could read and write Arabic. One of the boys even taught me a little back then. Most of those kids spoke languages and I'd tell you it takes some level of intelligence and dedication to learn a new language. One thing I'll never do is judge a person's intelligence or level of education by his ability to speak English. |
![]() |
D3rd:How does proficiency in the English language correlate with intelligence abeg? Cos if it does then everyone in the UK is intelligent. I know a guy from a Kano royal family who finds it hard to string an English sentence. Yet with all my English I can't compete with this guy at all. He speaks Hausa which is his native tongue, Arabic, Russian and English. He's most fluent in Arabic. Has an Msc from the University of Cairo. So abeg tell me how English take be measure of one's intelligence 2 Likes |

I don't violence on civilians in any way but to be honest soldiers also face situations with civilians that if not acted upon promptly might lead to the end of their life. During endsars a soldiers I know got killed by civilians because he tried to be civil with them. They snatched his gun and shot him dead. Another soldier had to act promptly during a mild crisis in a community in imo state. Boys were all charged up and the soldiers came to settle them down. In the process one of the boys who thought he was immortal started walking towards one of the soldiers menacingly. Baba offed him right there. He faced disciplinary actions sha but at the end of the day he did what was necessary to preserve his life. The matters sha dey complicated. May God help us 1 Like |
