The Global Peace Advocacy and Empowerment Initiative (GPAEI), a renowned international organization dedicated to peace and empowerment, has withdrawn the ambassadorial appointment of Ms. Rosemary Eze over allegations of fraudulent activities. In a statement released on Monday, GPAEI announced its disassociation from Eze, citing her involvement in the unauthorized approval of official vehicle plate numbers for unverified individuals. The organization also revoked her official plate number, “RRR GPAEI,” and declared that she is no longer authorized to act in its name. According to the Director-General of GPAEI, Ambassador Badamasi Sadiq Ibrahim, Eze colluded with a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) staff member identified as Rafiu Abdullahi to issue official plate numbers to individuals outside the organization without prior approval from its leadership. Investigations revealed that one such vehicle, bearing the registration “MT GPAEI,” was linked to a friend of Eze’s who is not a member of the organization. The plate was reportedly arranged for her overseas-based acquaintances who recently traveled to Nigeria. Ambassador Ibrahim emphasized that the organization’s decision to issue a disclaimer was driven by the need to mitigate potential future challenges arising from Eze’s actions. He reiterated that Ms. Eze is no longer d with GPAEI and must cease using any materials or identifiers linked to the organization. GPAEI is globally recognized for its initiatives promoting youth empowerment, national development, and fostering peace in conflict-affected communities.

The National Youths Appropriation Initiative (NYAI), a prominent civil society organization, has urged anti-corruption agencies to scrutinize the alleged $65 million fraud of the uncompleted Goodluck Legacy Estate. He stressed the necessity of investigating Ahmed Dangiwa, the current Minister of Housing and Urban Development, over his role in the stalled project. According to Hussein, Ahmed Dangiwa, formerly the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), assumed control of the Goodluck Legacy Estate project from his predecessor, Dr. Gimba Kumo, on February 14, 2016. “Not investigating or inviting Ahmed Dangiwa over the $65 million NHF housing projects is unprofessional,” Hussein stated. “The project, initiated under Kumo’s istration and contracted to Great Heart Power Nigeria Limited, has faced significant delays since the leadership change”. Hussein highlighted that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (IC) had previously noted irregularities but has yet to investigate Dangiwa’s tenure thoroughly. The NYAI’s statement details the setbacks under Dangiwa’s management, suggesting that his actions may have intentionally obstructed progress. This lack of advancement in the project has deprived many Nigerians of affordable housing opportunities. “Under Dangiwa’s management, reports indicate that the Goodluck Legacy Estate project in Abuja was stalled. The reasons behind his actions to frustrate the contractors and developers remain unknown,” the statement read. The NYAI calls on President Tinubu to consider the political history and actions of his housing minister. The organization urges a comprehensive investigation to restore faith in the housing project and ensure ability. “The FMBN (Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Legacy Estate) is a model housing estate development designed to deliver all the services of a modern urban setting,” the statement noted, emphasizing the importance of the project’s completion for the community. The estate, located in Kaba District, FCT Abuja, was envisioned to include diverse residential housing types, schools, shopping centers, worship centers, maintenance facilities, an integrated organic hybrid agro facility, and dedicated power and waste recycling plants. “As we calls for transparency and ability grow louder, the spotlight remains on Ahmed Dangiwa and his management of the Goodluck Legacy Estate. “The NYAI’s demands reflect a broader public interest in ensuring that such significant projects are completed without corruption and inefficiency.” Source: https://blueprint.ng/group-calls-for-probe-into-65m-goodluck-legacy-estate/

A Civil Society Organization known as the National Youth Appropriation Initiative (NYAI) has on Friday urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (IC) to be professionally guided in its approach to investigation. The national President of NYAI, Barr. Ishaq Hussein made the statement while reacting to the recent frivolities and inclusion of the Ex-CEO, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in a proposed IC arraignment charge. Barr. Ishaq said the IC should go after the contractors which is known to them and not the Ex-CEO who is outrightly innocent. Reports have it that the monies for the project was secured as a loan from Eco Bank. The Contractors were introduced to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, with history of several projects with Eco Bank. If the Contractors suddenly became incompetent then the leadership of FMBN after Gimba Kumo should have revoked it, but no and the now question is why? Recall a statement by the IC Director of Legal Henry Emore, who had said there is no charge against the former CEO of FMBN Gimba Yau Kumo. So if they file any charge now, it is of political interest,”. Also the EFCC few years ago conducted it’s investigation and said there is nothing linking Gimba to the said $65 million contract meant for the development of 962 units of residential houses in the FCT. According to reports, the contract was approved to a company called Good Earth Power Nigeria Limited but did not deliver the project. The Directors of the Company should be the ones under the IC watchlist or arraignment list not Gimba. “Why then is IC going after the Ex-CEO instead of the contractors, even after the IC and EFCC has cleared him”. Also recall that the Ex-CEO of FMBN had presented all documents to the senate committee on public s when summoned on to clarify the matter in 2018. Ishaq encouraged the IC to refrain from any form of political propaganda sponsored to witch-hunt patriotic nationals. The national President has said that public office holders who have served Nigeria diligently should not be harassed by operatives of the IC with conflicting charges. “If a case has been cleared, it is cleared why would another operative reawaken a case without proper investigation and after displaced operations, they begin to tender apologies as damage control.” “With proper investigation, they should know whom to arraign and who shouldnt. Chasing clouts and pulling triggers of empty riffles only ridicules the commission’s operational standards,” He added

Independence: Nigeria Still Struggling With Insecurity, Others, At 62 - Buraimoh Folajimi As Nigeria celebrate her 62nd independence anniversary, The Young Progressives Party(YPP) candidate Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Hon. Buraimoh Peter, Folajimi says after 62years of independence, Nigeria is still struggling with insecurity and poor infrastructural development. Buraimoh stated this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja, on Monday. "It is indeed a shame that after 62 years of self-government, Nigeria is bedeviled by high-level insecurity, poor infrastructural development, unemployment, poverty, and regressive economic growth, to mention a few. "62nd years after independence, Nigeria, like a vehicle struggling to climb a hilly road, has yet to achieve its potential. Its large population has thus become a source of insecurity. "With mass unemployment and overstretching of inadequate and poorly maintained infrastructure, many Nigerians have had to seek their fortunes abroad. "Now more than ever we must be intentional about building our nation. We must be determined to get involved", Buraimoh said. He said building a nation requires a selfless determination to make Nigeria work. While speaking on the issue-based campaign, he said "Now that the elections are upon us, I want the great people of Nigeria, especially the people Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Lagos State, to consider this election as a means to get good government. “A government that would truly reflect the needs and aspirations of the people. We urge you to get on the train of service to the people. And we are determined to begin the development of Nigeria from the grassroots through the Folaj for Ifako-Ijaiye movement. "The onus is on all of us to make Nigeria work again, when we vote wisely, Nigeria will rise again", he said. Weighing on the hope for Nigerians, he said “No condition is permanent,” screamed inscriptions on many commercial vehicles on the streets of Lagos. According to him, change is possible. But first, there has to be a mental and moral reorientation. Who will start it? If the government is irresponsibly disconnected from its role, civil society organizations should take up the task. Religious organizations with their massive and committed followers have a role to play in reorientation and rebirth. "For its part, the government has to truly commit to fighting corruption. Corruption has bled Nigeria to near death. It could cost up to 37% of gross domestic product by 2030 if not dealt with immediately. "When honesty is rewarded and corrupt acts are publicly punished, more Nigerians will more likely embrace honesty in their endeavors. Government should purge itself of corrupt elements and prosecute those found culpable," he said.
