A certain person was complaining on Nairaland many years ago. Why?
Look at Bola Tinubu's cap and look at the seats at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. The seats at the stadium are designed to recreate the broken shackles logo on Tinubu's cap. The person was grumbling because of the logo.
Governor Tinubu answering the question of how was the state able to afford the Millenium Schools and whether the state was strong enough financially to maintain them.
naptu2:
I created an entire thread about this (unfortunately the pictures no longer show unless you click on the links), but here's a summary.
1) LAGOS HOUSE, MARINA
Major General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi summoned Major Mobolaji Johnson (who was serving in Warri) and told him that he had a lot of work and a lot of problems to solve and that he couldn't deal with the problems of Lagos (the federal capital), so he wanted Major Johnson to deal with them for him. He therefore made Major Johnson the of the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos.
In order to make the work easier, he gave Major Johnson the former residence of the chief secretary of the Colonial Government. The house was right next to State House, Marina (where General Ironsi lived). That house became Lagos House, Marina.
In 1967 General Gowon made Lagos a state and he gave Lagos the former Prime Minister's Residence to use as its secretariat. The former prime minister's residence is now the ECOWAS compound (opposite Island Club) at Onikan.
Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, Commodore Adekunle Lawal, Commodore Ndubuisi Kanu and Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe lived at Lagos House, Marina.
General Murtala Muhammed made Ikeja the capital of Lagos State in 1976. Although Lagos State offices began to spring up in the Oba Akinjobi area of Ikeja (Old Secretariat), the governor continued to live and work on Lagos Island.
Alhaji Lateef Jakande was elected governor in 1979 and he decided to make Ikeja a real capital. He built the Round House (Governor's Office) and the State Secretariat at Alausa.
However, Governor Jakande did not like depending on government resources (for example, he continued to use his personal car, a Toyota Cressida, when he was governor. He even used the same car when he was minister of works in the 1990s), so he chose to live in his personal house at Ilupeju.
2) State House, Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA:
There was a coup on December 31st, 1983 and General Buhari appointed Air Commodore Gbolahan Mudashiru as the military governor of Lagos. (Comodore Mudashiru served from 1984 till 1986, both in the Buhari and Babangida istrations).
Mudashiru's wife did not trust government positions. Firstly, she didn't like the idea of commuting from Lagos House Marina on Lagos Island, to the Governor's office (Round House) in Alausa, Ikeja every day ( that the Third Mainland Bridge had not been completed then).
Secondly, she believed that a governor could be removed at any time and she didn't want any problems like moving house at short notice or ing for government property.
Therefore, they found a house in Ikeja for the governor to stay. The house was not far from their personal house and they left most of their things in their personal house and went there often.
The new house was on Isaac John Street at Ikeja GRA. Air Commodore Midashiru, Navy Captain Mike Akhigbe, Colonel Raji Rasaki, Sir Michael Otedola, Colonel Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Colonel Mohammed Buba Marwa lived there.
There were bomb attacks on Governor Marwa's motorcade as he went to work in 1996. He therefore decided to move to Lagos House, Marina, which was right beside Flag Staff House, Marina and was therefore much safer.
Marwa, Tinubu and Fashola lived in Marina, while State House, Isaac John Street became the governor's guest house.
There was a fire at Lagos House Marina when Tinubu was governor and he temporarily moved to Isaac John Street while Lagos House was being renovated.
3) Lagos House, Alausa:
Governor Mike Okhai Akhigbe decided to build a proper residence and office for the governor, but his plan didn't get anywhere because, as I told you, Nigeria had financial crisis in the 1980s. The project was started and stopped in 1987 and Governor Akhigbe was transfered in 1988 and Rasaki became governor and the project was abandoned.
Governor Bola Tinubu decided to build the governor's residence and office. Lagos House, Alausa was completed and commissioned in 2007 (20 years after the project began).
The Round House (the old governor's office) was handed over to the deputy governor and it became the deputy governor's office. The Lagos State Governor now works at Lagos House, Alausa.
Governor Tinubu had thought that his successor would live at Lagos House, Alausa, but Governor Fashola chose to live at Lagos House, Marina. However, Governor Ambode lived at Alausa, but Governor Sanwo-Olu lives at Marina.
Yet the person on that thread said that Bola Tinubu did not build any government house. Isn't that funny?
Stadium
There once was a small stadium at Surulere called UAC Stadium. I don't quite the history of the stadium, but it was used for Principals Cup matches in the early 1980s.
UAC Stadium was demolished in 1985 and the Lagos State Government decided to build a new stadium called Teslim Balogun Stadium. Once again, the project was abandoned and nothing was done. There was no money. The land became a home for homeless people and (well you can guess what I wanted to write here, I don't want to attract the bot).
Then Governor Bola Tinubu decided to build the stadium. I am happy that he decided to build it, but I quarrel with the fact that he decided to use the original design. That thing was designed in 1985 and the design had become dated by the early 2000s.
Anyway, the stadium was commissioned in 2007 and the first match was a friendly between Enyimba and Asante Kotoko.
Lagos House, Alausa and the Teslim Balogun Stadium were among the projects that were commissioned just before Governor Tinubu left office.
Yet somebody said that Tinubu did not build any stadium.
I have previously posted a link to a list of projects that Tinubu did (Abraham Adesanya Estate, Millenium Schools, roads, etc) and I have also posted videos of the commissioning on this thread, but someone said that Tinubu did nothing when he was governor.
Videos of the commissioning of Oba Oyekan Estate, Lekki, Millenium Estate Ajah (which was later renamed Abraham Adesanya Estate) and other estates.

I'm expecting to enjoy a battle this morning. I can't wait till he wakes up and reads what's happening.
I have friends from every part of the political spectrum and one of my friends that's an Obidient and another that is a Batist have entertained me all through the past few months. I expect them to wage a battle this morning.
What happened?
An obidient (that I don't know) issued a challenge. The person listed 15 housing estates that Governor Lateef Jakande built in Lagos (I have told you all about the Jakande Estates) and challenged anybody to list 10 estates that were built by Governor Tinubu. The person offered to give ₦500,000 to anyone that lists 10 estates that Tinubu built.
I laughed when I saw the challenge because I have videos of the commissioning of the estates that Governor Tinubu built, so I knew that she would lose the challenge.
As expected, someone listed 15 estates that Governor Tinubu built and he included pictures of newspaper stories of the commissioning of the estates. He then challenged anybody to list 10 estates that Peter Obi built in Anambra State.
Someone else came and offered to give ₦500,000 to anyone that can list 10 estates that Peter Obi built. Another person upped the ante by offering ₦400,000 to anybody that can list 10 estates or schools that Peter Obi built in Anambra.
Someone else (that I know) reposted these challenges and instead of my friend (who is an Obidient) to supply a list, he has gone on a tirade and is insulting the person that reposted the challenge. I am very sure that my friend that is a Batist will respond when he wakes up and I can't wait for the entertainment.
Taslim created a thread because he attached pictures of newspaper articles to each tweet, but I am going to combine the tweets together. I am obviously not going to post the pictures (because of nairaland's restrictions).
Taslim Odukoya @Odukoyataslim

Less I forget, tell the to bring before and after videos and newspaper publications of just 5 government owned public schools renovated by Peter Obi. I want to check something.
Seunolu @xabelpro1
There's also TOS Benson Estate with low and medium housing bungalows at Ikorodu and so many others.
Most people don't understand why Tinubu is highly rated in Lagos. We seem to have forgotten so many projects of Tinubu because of the noise of the opposition.
Pastor Okezie J. Atani @Onsogbu
There is an offer of N500,000 for anyone who can provide 10 housing estates built by Peter Obi
Another offer of N400,000 for anyone who can provide 5 schools Peter Obi built during his tenure.
It is understood that he kept money in a bank because he has built low-cost housing estates and schools, but there is an offer to dash out N900,000 for anyone with the list of the houses and schools.
The recent presence of Botswana’s Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe and Nigeria’s Mr. @PeterObi at Cambridge University is a powerful testament to the rising influence of African leadership on the global intellectual stage. Their engagement not only bridges continents but also inspires a new generation of Africans to lead with vision, integrity, and a commitment to transformative governance.

Yesterday, at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, I was honoured with an invitation to address African youths in the African Together Conference tagged "The Making of Africa’s Future Presidents."
I was delighted to interact with these youths drawn from different African countries and ionate about making a positive difference in society. I was inspired by the energy and determination of these young leaders, and I remain committed to empowering them to shape Africa's future.
Our discussion centred on the pathway to dismantling corruption and building a better future for our continent
I reiterated how investing in the critical areas of human and national development, education, health, and pulling people out of poverty can drive immeasurable growth and development in any nation and continent. Drawing examples from our comparable nations: China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the continent of Asia, I showed how committed leadership can turn around any nation and continent by prioritising investments in these areas.
I shared insights from my political journey, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that come with serving the public. I maintained that Nigeria, and indeed Africa, can work for all, if we dismantle corruption and rascality in governance, and prioritise investment in the critical areas of development.
With competent, committed and comionate leadership, Nigeria can become a beacon of hope, and Africa will rise to become a global economic powerhouse
I thank the African Society, University of Cambridge, for hosting this important event, and I also appreciate the young leaders who participated with such enthusiasm and dedication.
As we strive to build the New Nigeria, we all must get involved in this important process of nation-building by ensuring that only competent, capable, committed leaders with character and integrity are elected into public offices.
Mrs Jonathan had previously said that she would not return to the Aso Rock Villa. At a gathering of former first ladies last year, she said that the wahala at the Villa was too much and that she had no intention of going back there.
She said that service was turn by turn and that they had done their own turn and moved on.
She said that it was difficult to govern Nigeria, so Nigerians should give their to the person that is there.
2027: I’m not returning to villa, I’ll campaign with Remi Tinubu — Patience Jonathan
11th May 2025
Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has ruled out any return to Aso Rock Villa, declaring instead that she will campaign alongside the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ex-First Lady, known for her candid views, threw her weight behind the principle of rotational leadership, describing the “turn-by-turn” model as essential for national unity.
Jonathan disclosed this while acknowledging the President’s daughter and Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, after receiving the Women Icon Leader of the Year award from Accolade Dynamics Limited in Abuja on Saturday night.
She said, “I was supposed to call her first, but I saved her for last: the daughter of our wonderful President, the President of Nigeria, the one and only we believe in — President Bola Tinubu. Iyaloja, thank you for standing with women because these are your women. Carry them along; they are with you.
“All the way, we are with you. No shaking. We will follow. Direct us, and we will follow.
Because there is only one president at a time. We don’t have two presidents. I am outspoken — if I don’t like something, I will say it. But if I like something, I die for it.
“I believe in one president. I believe in turn-by-turn. When it’s your turn, I will you. When it’s not your turn, step back—so that the country can move forward.”
Speaking further, she said she has a longstanding relationship with Remi Tinubu that predates their time in Aso Rock.
Jonathan also recalled how Remi Tinubu and the president ed her and her husband when they contested for the presidency in 2011.
She insisted that rather than return to Aso Rock, she would the First Lady and her husband.
She said, “I didn’t just know her (Senator Oluremi Tinubu) just because she’s the First Lady, no. We worked together. We worked as a group.
“We are groups. We worked when I was a deputy governor’s wife. We worked when I was a governor’s wife. I know her. I talked with Oluremi. Even when my husband was the vice president, Oluremi stood with her husband and ed us during our first election. They ed us. So, for me, I have a conscience. I cannot abandon my friend, whether you like it or not.
“Because, you see, this is turn by turn. Today is my turn—I will go. Tomorrow, it will be another person’s turn—then we go. And when we go, will we still meet? Where will we meet? I don’t know.
“I stand by my friend. My friend is great. I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not denying her. I’m not running. I’m not going back to the villa. If you call me, I will not go.
“I say it every day. Don’t you like how young I look? People say, “Mama, you are young, you are young!” it is because I have rest of mind, yes. I don’t want to go there—let my friend be there. Let me also “wahala” her the way she used to “wahala” me when I was there! Let me also tease her. And until she comes out, she will be young. But for now, she won’t be young. ”
She also threw her weight behind the 35 per cent affirmative action for women in governance, lamenting the repeated rejection of gender equality bills by the National Assembly.
“During Obasanjo’s time, we worked for it, and the Executive approved 35 per cent. My husband also maintained it. But when it comes to elective positions, the men dominate and shut us out. May God touch their hearts to understand that we are their mothers, sisters, and friends. We are not trying to take power from them—we are trying to them.”
Jonathan described the honour as a recognition of collective efforts in the advancement of women’s health and economic well-being.
She said, “I am deeply humbled to receive this prestigious Women Icon Leader of the Year 2025 award. I accept this honour not just as a personal recognition, but as a testament to the tireless efforts of countless women and men who have worked alongside me to promote good health and economic development for women in Nigeria and beyond.”
She highlighted the work of her NGOs—Aurora Richard Foundation and Women for Change and Development Initiative—which have empowered thousands of women and youth through skill acquisition programmes and ed children with critical health conditions requiring surgeries abroad.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and CEO of Accolade Dynamics, Ms. Dofan Chizaram described the night as a tribute to both men and women who have significantly impacted Nigeria and the African continent through leadership, mentorship, and community development.
“This night is about celebrating the legends who have uplifted women and the broader community. We want to acknowledge their value while they are still with us,” Tor said.
This is amazing! The issues that were discussed at the meeting are written right there on the first page, yet people are manufacturing their own agenda and claiming that it's that agenda that was discussed.
Some are even claiming that the issue that was discussed was not discussed!
Unfortunately Nairaland limits the number of pictures that I can post within a spacific time. I will post lots more pictures when the restriction lapses.
I have very many more pictures of the meeting to post.

This type of thread usually surfaces when someone wants to start a rumour.
Femi Gbajabiamila is not missing, he has been very visible. Watch any video of the president's activities and you'll see him there. Look at any picture of the president's activities and you'll see him there. So why this thread?
The answer is that this thread exists because the OP wants to start a rumour that is not based on facts.
