LASTMA has confirmed that three individuals have lost their lives as a result of a collision involving a Dangote truck (DCG-TM-028) and multiple other vehicles.

Playloaded learnt the Dangote truck experienced a brake failure while descending from Ita-Opo, Epe, leading to the unfortunate incident.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday by Taofiq Adebayo, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA.

Bakare-Oki noted that the out-of-control vehicle collided with a tricycle (AGL 442 QC) and a stationary Toyota Camry at the Ayeyoro traffic light before veering into the Ayetoro Market Complex in Epe.

“The unfortunate collision resulted in the fatalities of the tricycle driver and two students from Manpower Technical School. The deceased were respectfully transported to the Epe General Hospital mortuary,” he said.

Operatives of the Department of the State Services have arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.

Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

The Plateau State Police Command is saying it has arrested a teenager for having sexual intercourse with three sisters in the state.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, made this known in Jos while briefing journalists on the operational breakthroughs recorded by the command in the state capital and other parts of the state.

According to the Commissioner, the sixteen-year-old suspect identified as Miracle Igwebuike was arrested in the Tudun Wada community, Jos North Local Government Area, after having carnal knowledge with the victims aged 6, 9, and 12.

Miracle confessed to the crime and further states that one Bongkat Dombin, female, 38 years of the same address, had been seducing and having sexual intercourse with him since he was 13 years old.

A nursing mother calls for the of the general public on behalf of an Asaba-residing side chic who held her husband captive for over two weeks.

According to the woman, her husband had been out of the house for over two weeks which prompted her to clone his WhatsApp and found out he was having an affair.

At least 22 people including a nursing mother with four children have been abducted by bandits who attacked Mani village in Rido ward in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Although the police authorities in Kaduna State are yet to confirm the incident, a youth leader in the Rido community, Zacharia Musa told Channels Television that the bandits stormed the community in large numbers while the residents were still asleep, and started shooting, and later moved from house to house to kidnap people.

In another incident, Bandits attacked Dan Honu II, New Millennium City also in Chikun Local Government where they abducted a nurse and her three sons.

The attack came barely two months after two journalists were kidnapped by bandits in the same community and were released after one week.

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a suspected bandit and the arrest of two others in an operation aimed at curbing banditry in the state.

In a statement released on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, reported that three AK-47 rifles and ammunition were recovered during the operation.

Abubakar stated that the incident occurred on June 21, 2024, when armed bandits on motorcycles invaded Kurgeye village in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, kidnapping two individuals, Malami Danladi and his son, Bello Danladi.

He stated:

“Upon receiving the report, a team of 36 Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel on special duty, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, responded swiftly, engaging the bandits in a pursuit, which led to an exchange of gunfire.

“During the confrontation, one bandit was shot dead, and one AK-47 rifle, along with an empty magazine and a Bajaj motorcycle, were recovered.”

In a separate operation on September 3, 2024, security operatives, in a t patrol with vigilantes along the Ribah-Kanya Road, intercepted and arrested two suspects, Isiya Alhaji Usman and Yunusa Yusuf, believed to be linked to the bandits terrorising the area.

A search revealed a K2 rifle, a fabricated AK-47 rifle with three magazines, and 66 rounds of live ammunition.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police Bello Sani commended the efforts of the officers, urging them to maintain and enhance their performance.

He also called for stronger collaboration between security agencies to tackle banditry and ensure stability in the region.

The suspects and recovered items have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
