So BLENDER had a thread like this, hmm, I bet those guys should be prof in 3d by now.

I still see blender's only problem to be the fact that it is freeware as everything technically 3d as obtained in any other standard 3d application is there, Infact, I really appreciate the textbook aspect that was linked and the assignment.

But have just figure out the similarity of blender and Maya and am going to try everything from the blender textbook as attached and put it into maya as a personal work challenge and I hope I will not derailed the thread.

Disclaimer am only into 2d animation but this would be my first attempt and journey to the 3d world with Maya as the preferred tool.

All those saying poor poor poor without any specifics for improvement, am sure you are all animators and you have done something better than that to show, as someone in the industry, even crappie animation is not easy to make. Now considering the resources at their desposal, they were able to come up with such work, the needed to be ed, they are not comparing themselves with DreamWorks, Pixar,Disney and Co, every thing is a stage, for me, this stage is ok

National Association Of Private Schools Teachers Proposed Protest On Monday

Following the notice of the proposed nationwide protest by the National Association of Private Schools Teacher issued on Thursday July 9, 2020, the self acclaimed association national chairman has called on all the private schools teachers to come out en masse in all the states of the federation for the protest.

Due to the indefinite closure of schools as a result of the covid19 pandemic, many private schools have not been able to pay their workers salaries for the last three months. This has triggered some of them to call on the government for help. They claimed the have been abandoned by the government.

So sad that an association like this exist, yet not much have been known until now and I doubt if all the private teachers are of the said group.
This group seems cheated but am curious about the dues that they have been collecting since Inception, can't something come out of it as first aid.
Teachers are people with reasonable faculty, can't they opt for soft skills and reposition self for job in areas that are now working or go for trade or revive their handy work.
No profession can replace teaching but for now, we are faced with the reality so every teacher from onset should have ask apart from teaching what can I do? How long will I continue to teach??
Life for teachers will never be the same again after this period except for those that have refuse to learn lessons
Lastly, as a private school teacher, you never had an agreement to be on pay spread, so expect nothing from school owners, school owners are also figuring how to survive and will not take your own burden since the source of their income is also close
Rather than lamenting, drop your status, go to farm if you have any or ion, attached to someone and learn handy work, learn ICT skills and any soft skills, declare your financial status to lessen pressures for this time is still far from over so use it wise and even stop teaching even if school resumes

It's good to start 3d some where but ideally, will not limit it to mobile devices but to step up to industry requirements of computer applications, just a suggestion

In April, when this lock-down began, i self-taught myself on Graphics. i decided to focus on Motion Graphics as i noticed not many people are into it. I began by learning how to use Adobe Illustrator up to proficiency levels, then i learnt White Board Animation and Kinetic Typography.

I now want to step up to 2d animations, before going 3d by maybe next year. Can you recommend a good software with which to learn 2d animations?

I am considering Blender mainly because it is free, plus there are lots of tutorials on it on Youtube. But then Adobe Animate appeals to me because i am quite comfortable with the Adobe interface. Toon Boom Harmony too, i heard, makes a lot of sense and offers a lot of advanced options.

Kindly advise, please.

To give a personal and honest response to your questions from my professional experience, the bitter truth is, there is no best and nothing like best in reality, best is just a market and sales pitch word, the right word there is popular, so what is the popular software and the answer is simple by market share. The more you use a tool, the more you become good at it, it is not that the tool is best but the .
when it comes to animation, what do you aim for, see the end first, most newbies that I teach from experience just want to learn animation with no purpose, no direction and when ask why do you want to learn animation, their respond is a chorus answer-to do cartoons.
To this type of people any software can go.
Another scenario, sir please am a secondary school leaver, I know the basics of computer and I really love cartoons, take a look at this cartoon video that I ed, I wish I could one day create similar things like this and need your help.
People like this, about 25% of those that I teach have for sight and need software that can be integrated with studios, they are not just enthusiastic animators or hobbyist so I look at the video first, give them orientation and tell them OK, for industry go for toonboom, animate or after effect and even if you want to go freelancing internationally, you will get hired because you are using the industry tools.
Maya is what you need for 3d, if you want 3d motion graphics then Cinema 4d is your best bet, infact adobe of after effect is in love with Maxon of c4d no wonder a lite version of it is bundled with every latest release of after effects.
when it comes to 3d, don't be confuse with the many software videos of blender, they are just a community seeking more attention for studio deployment but ends more with hobbyist, videos are just to let you know how the software work and not necessary an endorsement, in fact, no studio has openly stick with Blender, despite is free but the beef is still that Blender as a 3d software is free, light in size and can do everything like anything is just good for some folks with no open love by studios, again, you see why you have to see the end before you do anything not just animation but life generally including going to school, precisely university in this part of the planet, I will speak no further on that aspect of education.
Education, this time around online, well get a visa or Master card, goto udemy, skillshare, Linda buy a course and follow up or buy a subscription and follow up there is more wisdom in 180 degree learning from those guys than a 360 degree learning from YouTube that aims at selling their goods and services. YouTube should only be use for a particular topic research that you want more information on, I call it control filter research learning and of course, if you can pay people who will teach you not necessarily me, then do that, everything should not be free, I sounded harsh - Sorry!

That's pretty kinda old work but it took me roughly one month and was a kinda switch animation from Moho 12 to my newly found love Adobe After Effects 2017.

But time flies, and am happy with the criticism I received which made me took a course in camera work for animation based on .

Have now added 3d to my work flow, not Blender, not cinema 4d, not Lightwave not Modo... Not.. But autodesk maya.

After learning from industry experts and currently undergoing post mentoring, am cleared why Maya is the king and how it seems complex for beginners to grasp and am planning to make a special thread for autodesk 3d maya for prospective 3d animators soon but you know what, that is too much of information but that is how I reward people who have interest in learning and a way of saying thank you to the NL community

Why am saying this is because it has open our eyes or your eyes to the realities of teaching and to make you rethink on statements like my reward is in heaven, do it for God and all the likes.

Now, you can truly look inward and believe me, that carrot you receive called salary does not compliment to the donkey role you are playing. Ask your self how long will I teach to build a house, get married, go for vacation, get cars, invest, trained my children, take care of others and the rest?

Let me not sound too futuristic, ok now that am teaching, can my salary put me food three times per day, recharge my phone, take care of me when am sick and pay my house rent?

Don't you notice that each time you buy a new cloth, your fellow teachers and students will notice it and you become a news.

Let me pause here and cheer you up, you know as a teacher, you are valued during waec,neco,jamb etc but after that what happen next is usually a tale.

One advice please is that none of your students will love to be a teacher and no parents wishes same for his or her child, so any one of us who are graduate turn teacher is a bended crayfish.

Well, am a graduate and a teacher too and I know what it means during this period, I know what it means like when you are not paid your due stipends and the rules of the game but am surviving and helping other teachers my close friends o in my network. Infact we had our own palliative without waiting for the school and as am talking to you, no news about salary.

Life will never be the same again after this period and I can tell you with certainty that so many things will change including you but are you ready for this change?

“Sir, between cut out and Frame by frame Animation Style which one should I go for?” That was a question by a curious would be animator and I am sure you may have such in mind but to do justice to the question, I decided to answer it as a free report and here is the excerpt of the free report.

The answer to the question on choosing between cut out and Frame by frame Animation Style is purely personal and factor dependent which I will sight instances below.

Both softwares have their strengths. Professionalism in mastering the tool is so important as becoming efficient in the trade.
