As you know, the Art and Science of Photography was formally announced as invented in Paris – , on 19th August, 1839 and this day, every year since then is celebrated as the ‘ World Photography Day ’! As witnessed for over 170 years, Photography is found in all walks of life and is continuously developing, offering excellent and amazing results in recording things – even things not seen by the human eyes!

You will no doubt agree with me that photography has come of age in Nigeria, and as part of the effort to grow the photography industry in Nigeria we have decided to celebrate the World Photography Day in Nigeria for the first time on Monday August 19, 2013 by engaging in community photo-walk, interaction and exhibition.

May I request all to kindly participate in this event with your friends to make the event a success. On this occasion, we intend to create awareness through the community photo-walk and get the attention of the media to recognize August 19th as ‘our day’. We are optimistic that through our various contributions photography in Nigeria will attain its rightful position.
