Hi Everyone,

My dad went for his visa interview at the Abuja embassy and got denied. He is 68 years old and got denied because he didn’t have ties to Nigeria. He is retired and currently doesn’t work, this is also his first time ever applying.

He told them he was coming to visit his daughters and 2 year old granddaughter which he has never seen. One of his daughters is a permanent resident and the other is on student Visa.

How do we show his ties to Nigeria to convince the VO that he’s not trying to Japa?

Also my mum has come many times and her visa has been renewed multiple times. This is his first time so we want to know how we can show ties to Naija.

He took the deed of the house but they didn’t even look at any of his documents before denying him.

Let me correct you because i was the one with the 1-20 not you and i knew what was written on it secondly that transcript was posted here for people to learn from you don’t need to call it terrible after i had already called the error a mistake for everyone.

First you talked about unnecessary info: But my sisters name was on the i-20 already so there was no way her name won’t come up because i will be staying with her .
Secondly, my uncle is also my sponsor but as i said earlier the bank statement was not complete which was a mistake. Overall the point is if i had lied i most likely wouldn’t have gotten the visa.

Hi Nairaland, a silent reader here,visa finally issued on Tuesday evening after waiting and it wasn’t even AP� all because of a silly mistake but God took control. Security guard was asking why i wasn’t smiling when i came out , lol (he no know say different kind of white paper dey)

Interview on June 6 for 6:45am,interviewed by Peter @window 5, didn’t even know he drilled me because i was prepared.

Vo: Good morning, How are you today
Me: am fine thank you (es documents)

Vo: Why are you going to the us?
Me: I am going to the us for my bachelors degree at Lewis-Clark State College, Lewiston Idaho.

Vo:course?
Me:Biology(nervousness didn’t make me say that at first)

Vo: why biology?
Me: (smiling)I choose biology because it is the course i have been really interested in ever since i took it in high school most especially the fact that biology deals with the study of life of all living things and by taking it i will be able to understand the interaction between living things and organisms with the environment.Also biology does not limit or restrict me because i can diversify into other fields like bioengineering ,health sector or even apply it to industries

Mesmiling) maybe nursing or something in the health sector or i can actually go into bioengineering. I have found bioengineering quite fascinating too so am considering that too

Me: yes a graduate student at U of I with teaching assistantship, full tuition waiver and scholarship.

Me: My uncle already promised to sponsor me if i ed my exams and got ission to the schools I applied to also he’s a consultant at Bleep company while my mum will be taking care of other expenses.

Me: yes TOEFL , SAT was waived and i wrote a personal essay

Vo:When did you finish from high school
Me: 2016

Vo:what have you been doing since then?
Me: after high school i went for a 1 year intensive fashion training in a fashion school and after that i took the jamb exam and got itted to oau

Vo:ohh, so you’re in school
Me: No i got itted but didn’t resume

Vo: Can i see his bank statement
Me: yes (hands it over)

Volooking at it) where does he stay?
Me:Maryland

Vo: This bank statement does not cover all though you have partial scholarship
Merealized I didn’t bring a complete bank statement) ohh my sister will be taking care of my living expenses

Volooks at 1-20 very well) ohh, do you have her bank statement
Me:Not here with me currently

Vo: ok, (hands over white paper) i need you to get your sisters bank statement and dhl it to us.
Me:ok, thank you
