raker300:Thanks i was already asking myself if he deserves another response cause one could touch the level insincerity and hypocrisy emanating from his post, can you Imagine he even asked that the Governor lobby to get the port dredged and gazetted, things that should ordinarily follow with the completion of the Port after all it's in the Interest of the country at large. |

Blue3k:Onitsha port have gone beyond all you mentioned, it only limitations now are gazette and dredging of the river to carry heavy vessels all which are beyond the powers of the state government. 12 Likes |

This thread is borne out of the many observations from some Igbo's in Nigeria today, it will be important that the Igbo's realize that sleeping on your enemies mat does not make them your friend. No other tribe or ethnic group will give the Igbo's what they don't have instead they will seek to deprive the Igbo's of what they ought to get. That is the Igbo reality in Nigeria. I noticed on a thread seeking answers to where is more suitable to build a port for the southeast and south south? on that thread I noticed how some Igbo's were mentioning other towns that don't even have the economy, security, human resource or even potential to sustain a port the only thing that those towns are famous for is oil deposit which does not translate to success. Some of the towns even have ports that have been idle for years but since the birth of Onitsha port every governor in the SS region wants to build a port even when they could barely sustain the few in their region and the southeast not having any. My question now to these Igbo's is why do you want to give up your Onitsha river port and Obuaku sea port for another in the SS. it is even a debate now as to where is more suitable when Onitsha clearly carries the day. Igbo are not known to speak from both sides of the mouth, Igbo's on Nairaland should stop being petty or bringing ridicule to our great race both at home and in diaspora. The action of some Igbo's on Nairaland are making Igbo's receive insults from tribes that can't match the success or feat of one local government in Anambra talk least of Anambra or the Igbo nation at large. As long as one Nigeria still exist today, Igbo's should promote Igbo land interest and southeast interest only. In Nigeria nobody promotes Igbo or SE interest so except we are talking of Igbo land in general which includes the entire southeast and some part of south south, we should stop promoting project outside Southeast. Igbo's should focus on Igbo land and not South south. In Nigeria every ethnic National or region push for the interest of their people and region when it comes to national, economic, or infrastructural interest, however we are free to form political allegiance with the south south or any other region. No other group or region have the interest of Igbo's like the Igbo's themselves. Igbo's deserve to have their own Sea and river port in SE. Igbo's should be pushing for Onitsha river port and Obuaku sea port, both Cities of Onitsha and Aba are the only two cities that can successfully sustain a thriving sea port in SE/SS that will have maximum patronage and make profits, moreover Igbo land needs direct access to the world we should not be at the mercy of any ethnic group or region we are blessed beyond dependence. We all noticed how some ethnic group consistently chorused against the dredging of the Niger River to avoid Igbo's access to the sea so why promote the interest of people who do not mean well for us instead we should be promoting Igbo land in general. On this note Igbo's let us promote Igbo land and interest, thank God the current Ohanaeze President is doing a great job at uniting Igbo land across all borders. 8 Likes |

disumusa:Aboki, there is nothing like Ndigbo ama Eze, it is Igbo enwe Eze, which loosely translates to Igbo's are Equal. While they may be a King Igbo's see themselves as being equal and have been democratic in nature long before Nigeria was amalgamated. Thats why SE does not have beggars, destitutes and almajiri's littering the region like you see in the north. I pray the gods of your lands and forefathers give you the understanding to assimilate this so you don't fill your heart with hate, jealousy and envy to come back here picking a fight amongst ur superiors, aboki. 5 Likes |

What is Respect : We have several definitions for the word "Respect" but we are going to be working with the definition that applies in the context of this discuss. The Oxford dictionary of English defines respect to mean, A feeling of deep iration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities or achievement. From the definition above it is clear that respect can be influenced, altered or even watered down to non existence. This is to say respect is not absolute and cannot be enforced but should be merited by someone or something's abilities, qualities or achievements this easily applies to respect as we all know it. Interpreting this in the customary or real life scenario; A King is respected for the office of authority or position that he holds, however he could lose the respect of his subjects if he abuses such power or authority in his care. A father or mother by default gains the respect of their children for fathering and giving birth to them, for nurturing and training them through life however in the same weight a parent could easily lose their respect should they fail to live up to their responsibility. A successful man is also respected for the level of wealth and affluence that he controls however this would be different if his source of wealth is questionable. What does the Bible say about respect: 1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. This bible verse shows that respect is not absolute. 1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. This bible verse shows that respect is not only for the strong or person in authority. Titus 2:7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity. This bible verse shows that character influences respect. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and onish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. This bible verse shows that persons who have laboured to become successful deserve to be respected for they have earned it. In Igbo Culture and Tradition Respect is Relative not Absolute you earn it you don't enforce it. The Igbo's are deeply rooted in culture and traditions this is why our social and cultural lives differ from others. This cultural and societal differences are the enablers and propellers of the Igbo distinct traits that make us unique, hardworking and successful in various trades or chosen spheres of life and human endeavors wherever the Igbo's find themselves. Before you can judge or interpret respect in the Igbo society or amongst the Igbo's one needs to understand and have proper knowledge of the Igbo custom and tradition's first. Nwa di Ana and Nna Ochie Traditions In the Igbo culture and traditions I find this as one of the most interesting and amazing of them all. The Nwa di and Nna ochie tradition makes it possible for a young man to be greeted by an elder when such elder comes in presence of the young man he takes a little bow while expecting a pat on the shoulder from the young man as a sign of subtle recognition and respect to the young man. In Nigerians when other ethnic groups see such an act it is tantamount to Igbo's not having respect for elders, but they simply do not understand the distinct nature of the Igbo culture which is simply beautiful, also the fact that respect is relative and not absolute in the Igbo culture is more evidence of the Igbo-Jewish connection with biblical evidence as reference point. Igbo Titles persons who have excelled in their field, brought about development or persons who have exceptional abilities, qualities and achievements people who fall within these category are awarded with titles that reflect their status and achievements in the society. In Igbo land it is okay for a young man to call a Titled man after his title without any prefix or suffix like Mr, Mrs, Sir, Madam or the likes, this is because the title already indicates and represent respect as only respected men are titled men in Igbo land. The same way it is okay to call one a Barrister, Doctor, SAN, Engineer regardless their age. This is also applicable in corporate work environment where it is okay to call your boss by nicknames that they chose to be called in the office this does not reduce their status or indicate disrespect. So when you see a young Igbo man address an elder by his Name (titled) it is no disrespect. Respect is deeply rooted in truth, honesty and transparency in Igbo land and culture, In Igbo land one does not withhold the truth in other not to disrespect an elder. Igbo's believe that Eziokwu bu ndu loosely translated to mean truth is life. In Igbo land one does not close his eyes or stitch his lips in the face of evil or bad actions for respect to be sustained and evil to prevail. Elders are expected not to compromise or tell lies as this can make younger ones speak against such ills which can easily be seen as disrespectful in other tribes in the Nigerian context. Equity, Justice and Fairness (Egbe b'elu Ugo b'elu) this is the first Igbo rule of survival that is why it is easy for Igbo's to speak out in the face of marginalization, oppression or injustice against its own or any other. In Igbo land every one is equal and no one is over the other or allowed to oppress any other, we all know the famous song from the musical icon chief Oliver ebili ka'm bili, (live and let's live). Igbo's respect their wealthy sons of the soil but do not worship them, Igbo's respect Son of the soil who have broken all boundaries and gone against all odds to become successful, such people and are seen as nation builders in Igbo land and an Igbo adage say e'to dike na nke omere ome kwa ozo. "If you appreciate what a great man (nation builder) have done he will do more". Marriage; When one is of age or married he is accorded respect by both young and old alike and can partake in discussions with his kinsmen and participate in meetings with elders. A popular Igbo adage says when a child washes his hands very well he eats with the elders. So when next you see that elderly Igbo man taking a bow and a younger Igbo chap patting his shoulders you have seen a clear display of Nna-oche and nwa-di-Ana tradition being exhibited, so do not think he is bowing down because the young Igbo chap is rich or famous, Nna ochie and Nwa di Ana tradition is a very popular culture amongst all Igbo ethnic stock till today. Igbo land is truly blessed and endowed with beautiful customs and traditions preserved generations through generations. Hopefully this thread have been able to debunk age long lies that Igbo's do not have respect for elders, these lies only existed cause people who tell such lies know nothing about the Igbo customs and traditions. 1 Like |

I hope we can see what's happening in Ife today, when I said worst killings and attack are going on in Nigeria I was called out, what if the Hausa/Fulani's form vigilante groups in Ife how will that solve the problems, the Government, police, army and all security operatives should step into action before this spirals out of control, let's hope they wouldn't be reprisals in the north.

obaaderemi:Ade, I am no tribalist, Okay? I am responding to you cause I see sincerity in your comment, I am no tribalist, did you notice how he has been stylishly trying to put a wedge between me and the Yorubas on this thread, but I boldly ignored all, to be frank I am more Yoruba than many Yorubas out there, they work with me, We live together, eat together, club together, have each other's back in real life, I am even a secretary in a Yoruba elders forum (I am the youngest there) I was even given a Yoruba name and title by a Baale, my thread was simply misunderstood cause I misrepresented it, but I have since corrected it. So please do no tag me a tribalist I am far from that. I do have the interest of my people at heart, I do have the interest of Yorubas at heart and most importantly I do have the interest of Nigeria at heart. .. and mind you I never doubted his ethnicity, as you can see from all my post I never questioned it, but he should be bold enough to speak for himself and not trying to make Yorubas see me as their enemy, well I thank God for the wisdom of the Yorubas on this thread they ignored all his evil machinations to involve them in his petty accusations and left him to his fate and you can see the outcome, he is probably at a chemist now buying drugs for High blood pressure or taking his native village concurtion as his heart seems to be failing him now after engaging me on this thread. So you will have to wait a few hours to read from him, as he needs to be in a stable condition before can reply you and that will take a few hours. Edit: it appears he didn't make it, he didn't survive the onslaught. Rip Laribari |

Xenophobic events in Nigeria against Ghanaians vs Xenophobic events in South Africa against Nigerians. Picture 1 and 2 Shows Nigerians reaction when South Africans said they don't want foreigners committing crimes in their country. Picture 3 and 4 Shows Ghanaians reaction when Nigerians said they don't want Ghanaians in Nigeria for taking up jobs in Nigeria. How both event played out: Ghanaians packed their bags and baggages in their numbers and relocated to their country and developed it, today Nigerians run to Ghana for Education and medical tourism, while also living and working in Ghana. Nigerians on the other hand formed vigilante groups to protect themselves from South Africans and South African aggression on them in South Africa instead of learning from their next door west Africa neighbors. Nigerians why don't we take a cue from Ghanaians and do what they did, Come back home and develop your country like the Ghanaians have done and today they are reaping the benefit of doing the right thing by building their country and positioning it for economic development in Africa and on the world stage. Nigerians we cannot force ourselves to live in another mans country, especially when they make it clear that we are not needed, Do we call this Nemesis, Karma, or hypocrisy. Nigerians living in South Africa do the right and honorable thing, come back home and make your country great again. Nigeria can be great again. I want only reasonable input on this thread. 1 Like |

laribari:Quote where I said I ever did web deg for a living, I said a hobby numbskull. Heya you really want to know what I do for a living. I will give you a clue. I do nothing, yes nothing, and that is because I have created a product and brand that sells globally, so all I do is stay on my Ipad round the clock checking sales inventories (I have a app for sales Inventories) round the continents and checking bank credits to a foreign , hope you get a clue(Soft work). You are a fool. give you my name or the name of my product for what nau? So you will come and tribalize it and be calling it Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa product abi? As long as you don’t know it, it remains a global product and not a Igbo or any other ethnic made product, But to be frank one of the reason a ed nairaland was to share my product so it inspires others to think out of the box, but not any more, so people like you don’t tarnish the image of my brand with your tribalism and bigotry, if you check my very first post I stated that I would introduce my product. You are indeed very dumb where did you see a wall paper in that entire picture? You are indeed very dull and keep embarrassing yourself, so you think the wall you see there is the end of the living room, you dull sha, that is a column on both end of the TV arena to give a cinematic view, guy you dumb sha, you can continue running from pillar to post, shifting the goal, post or grabbing straws like the drowning man that you are non of all that will save you on this thread. Some how now I get the feeling you are Musiwa the resident nairaland clown if you are not I must say you have dethroned him as the resident nairaland clown even though your condition is worse. The distance between laribari and common sense.

laribari:Offcourse I expect you to be comfortable in your present life predicament, life have not treated you fairly but I don’t expect you to understand cause you have been used to a life of misery, pain and agony since birth, if you live in a 12x12 tent something your parent, grand parents and ancestors could not achieve and you were able to pull it off, I expect you to be contented and happy with it. You have indeed done well for yourself by your own Standards Moving forward, you cracked me up with that photoshop talk, then you still go further to say it could be a hotel or bar or whatever, first I would say make up your mind on one are you saying photo shop or Hotel, bar images, well sorry to disappoint you that is no photoshop and it is no Hotel, bar either, I know its hard for you to imagine that one could live in such luxury as his personal home, that’s what I was trying to explain above, while you are comfortable in your shack by your own standard that is suffering by mine, in fact I just snap another photo this night. So is it still photoshop? I see you don’t have any idea what a smart TV is, and you don’t know the difference between an Ipad (Apple) and other regular tablet on the market, see how you are exposing, embarrassing and disgracing your old age and displaying your ignorance to readers, very dumb crack head feeling smart on nairaland. He even said he gave his wife a Samsung Ipad and even laughed at mine for being the mini ipad ![]() I did not show you my phone yet, did I? You would still call it Photoshop so no need. laribari:Are you kidding me? You actually want to compare and post pictures now? Little man look here I am a god to you, you displayed a lame ass Bb port (though a fan of bb) and a 29" Tv in the background to compare, you must be a duck. If you were so proud of your hut why stand right in front of your tv, even at that it still clearly shows a 12x12 tent. The fact that you even had convulsions on this thread as one can see from your several multiple post, it shows you have been knocked the fu.c.k out, awards indeed, are you referring to the award your wife honored you with? wife beater. See, I use the recent iPad mini, Like I said I am a god to you no need for comparisons did you notice the smart TV and the 3D s in the background if you know what that is, my sitting room alone is covered in that, do you know what that cost, did you notice the size of the TV arena so you can only imagine the size of the living room. Did you say late 30's and you can't even make a handful list of what you have achieved, now you see why I call you agbaya, I am not even up to my mid 30's and already a global citizen when you still talk of award presented to you by your wife, Sore loser. I know you have comprehension problems. That's why you would say I am a web designer. When I clearly stated that it is my hobby and something, I do for fun I have never charged a penny to build a site for any of my pals. I do understand where you are coming from though, I know you are one of those folk whose hobby is simply, singing, dancing and playing Ludo, fish brain. Ngozi123:The other poster is a very unstable character if he was in developed climes police would have been profiling him for crimes like serial killings, Pedophile, Molestation, Rape and other related crimes, I don’t know if he is like that in real life or just nairaland, His English comprehension skills is very poor, normally what I do if I have to send him a message I write in very simple English and I keep it as short as possible anything more than 5 lines in a message he gets confuse and quotes you for some other person (vice versa) or twist your comment, best bet ignore him. I am only engaging him because he is mes my thread. Coming to my post, yes indeed Nigerians can be hypocrites and do shy away from the truth especially when it concerns Igbo affairs, if you want to know a bigot in Nigeria just ask him/her position on Igbo presidency, trust me that test never fails, even when they speak in favor against their wish it is reflected all over them, their countenance changes, and words become to heavy to utter, they cant just hide it, I even still used the technique in this thread today to disperse some trolls who came to tribalize this thread and I ask them same question and wala they vanished into cyber oblivion, it works like a charm. If you really want to get my position on this thread go to Page0 i have several post there very detailed. As for the video if the language spoke in the video was Igbo this would have been an NCAN thread reminding Igbo’s to respect their host, If Igbo did that confrontation in Lagos it would have been Igbo go back to your village, respect you host, go and build your Lagos in Igbo land, Why? In a united Nigeria, This tells you that the system is flawed and should be reviewed to create a Nigeria where there is not tribal, Ethnic, religious, political, Economic discrimination. You can refer to the first page to see my comments i have like 4-5 of them there, you will find them interesting. Thanks for understanding. |
