Barcelona have completed the controversial emergency g of Danish striker Martin Braithwaite from Leganes for 18m euros (£15m). La Liga gave Barcelona permission to make a g outside the transfer window after Ousmane Dembele was ruled out for six months with an injury. La Liga rules allow clubs to apply to make new gs if a player is ruled out for more than five months. Braithwaite's contract will run until the end of June 2024. His deal also includes a buy-out clause of 300m euros (£251m). The rules allowing Barcelona to sign the 28-year-old stipulated the player they brought in must be a free agent or already playing in Spain and that they can not play in Uefa competition. Braithwaite signed a four-year-deal at Leganes in July following a spell on loan from Championship side Middlesbrough last season. He scored eight goals in 27 games since ing them permanently and has six of Leganes' 18 league goals so far this season. Leganes are in the relegation zone of La Liga and have lost the forward, capped 39 times by Denmark, after Barcelona met his buy-out clause. "We will raise our voice," said Leganes director general Martin Ortega. "We are in a situation of enormous and serious damage. "We cannot understand the current regulation that a club, having a long-term injury, can perform this operation unilaterally and transfer their problem to our club. "We consider that there is a regulation that is unfair, from which Barcelona has benefited. The one who is damaged by this is Leganes". According to his official website, Braithwaite "showed a natural flair for the game" as a baby and describes himself as the "fastest player in Denmark". Raised in the Danish town of Esbjerg, for whom he began his youth career, he made his senior debut in 2009 and helped the club to the Danish first division title in 2011-12 and cup in 2013. Despite that success, the striker hinted at feeling undervalued during his time at Esbjerg. "They may not have known what I could do, but I knew," he said. Departing Denmark for Ligue 1 side Toulouse in 2013, Braithwaite made 137 appearances before ing Championship side Middlesbrough in 2017 on a four-year contract. Initially signed by manager Garry Monk, the forward struggled for opportunities under his replacement Tony Pulis. "Disagreements" between the pair ensued, leading to loan moves to Bordeaux and then Leganes. He made his Leganes move permanent in the 2019 summer transfer window.

Following the decision to postpone Saturday's meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid, it has been confirmed that the first Clasico of the season will take place on December 18. Riots in Barcelona over the past two weeks led to La Liga requesting that the game be moved from Camp Nou to Santiago Bernabeu, with the reverse fixture then to be played in Catalunya later in the season. But with both clubs against such a switch, the match was instead rescheduled, with a final call on that date having been made by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). "The decision of the competition committee has come after analysing in recent days the proposals of both clubs, which they invited to agree on a date and who agreed to signal on December 18 for the rescheduling of the postponed match," an RFEF statement read. Though both clubs suggested December 18 - a Wednesday - La Liga have confirmed that they will appeal the new date will stand given their hope of showcasing the biggest match in the competition to a wider audience. The original fixture was set to kick-off at 12pm BST (7am ET) so as to allow fans in Asia as well as in the United States and South America to watch the match live, with the proposed new evening kick-off set to impact the former. "La Liga does not share the resolution of the competition committee to settle on December 18 - following the agreement reached by FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, but La Liga's refusal - as the new date of the previously postponed Clasico," a statement from La Liga read. "We are studying the documentation referring to this procedure to assess the possible legal actions to be taken, against the corresponding institutions and before the public bodies or jurisdictional bodies that it deems appropriate." The decision to move the original match on October 26 away from Camp Nou was taken following chaotic scenes in Barcelona in the aftermath of nine Catalan separatist leaders being jailed for between nine and 13 years.

Former Brazil forward Ronaldinho has had 57 properties seized and his Brazilian and Spanish ports confiscated over unpaid taxes and fines, according to reports in Brazil. The twice World Player Of The Year was fined 9.5m reais (£2.06m) for illegally building a pier at his lake house in the city of Porto Alegre, the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo said. But as well as the environmental fine, Ronaldinho is also being pursued by creditors seeking to recover £1.69m in other debts, such as council taxes. A judge in Porto Alegre told the Reuters news agency that because the case was under judicial secrecy rules, no details of the newspaper report could be confirmed or denied. Ronaldinho was the 2004 and 2005 World Player of the Year and enjoyed the prime of his career at Spanish giants Barcelona. He won the World Cup in 2002 alongside fellow superstar forwards Ronaldo and Rivaldo. The captain of that team, Cafu, is similarly facing financial problems, having had various apartments he owns in Brazil seized by the authorities. Ronaldinho's net worth is estimated at £80-100m and he is reported to charge around £150,000 for a single promoted Instagram post. SOURCE: BBC sport

Marco Verratti has suggested Paris Saint Germain not to stand in the way of Neymar's proposed switch to Barcelona, insisting that the club "must not keep a player who wants to leave". The mercurial winger's attitude has been called into question on a number of other occasions and rumours of a return to Barcelona have emerged as a result. Verratti does not wish to see Neymar leave Parc des Princes but feels PSG should sanction his departure if he no longer wants to be in the French capital. "When a player really wants to leave, the club must let him go, according to the conditions set by the club, of course," the Italy midfielder told RMC Sport . "But you must not keep a player who wants to leave. Of course, I would be disappointed to see him go. "I never heard him say that he wanted to leave, after I don't know what he told the club. But personally, of course, I prefer to see him stay." There has been some suggestion that Barca will include multiple players in any official offer for the Brazilian, but the club may be short on funds after a summer of lucrative spending. The Spanish champions have already forked out a whopping £215 million ($265m) on new players during the current window, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong now on Ernesto Valverde's books. PSG meanwhile, are still chasing targets of their own, as Thomas Tuchel looks to build a team capable of challenging for the Champions League next term. SOURCE: GOAL
