Guys please I need your input o. My mum port is stucked in Abuja Vfs. I finally just got a confirmation that it is ready for pick up after chatting them and her flight is on Tuesday. She is in lagos.
My question is.. 1. if I pay for their courier service today, when is she likely to get the port?
2. Can a third party pick up the port for her and then dhl it cause I don't even trust the efficiency of this vfs again

I flew to Abuja this morning to pick up my port from the VERY incompetent VFS because i have an urgent trip to the UK tonight.
port came back from the Visa offixe since 26th June and i paid upfront for courier back to me, filled and sent the SMS forms , countless calls and unreplied emails, yet my port was buried in a heap of ports, all my emails unread and unreplied. They havent even opened or acknowledged the first email i sent that had reciept of 18,710 talk more of sorting my port for dispatch to me.
I got my pasaport from them in about 2 hours as they were UNDERSTAFFed (only one person handling collections) and flew back to lagos.

Now return ticket money to abuja plus 18,710 all wasted .

Please did you get an email that your port was ready for collection before going to Abuja. This is my dilemma. It's been 3weeks since I sent my port

I just received my long awaited PPR. VV for the spouse of an international student. I learnt a lot from this forum and it is very imperative I give back.

My first application was submitted June 2021
Resubmitted a new application via the new portal January 9 2022.
Refusal letter February 9 2022 (Refused Based on Family ties)
I ordered GCMS notes same day.
Reapplied February 22 2022
PPR April 7 2022


A refusal letter hits differently, I was devastated because I thought I had a strong and convincing application. It took me about 2 weeks to get myself to write a new LOE and SOP.

A sweetheart on this platform @mzjanez01 reached out to me and advised I reapply without the notes. She was kind to share how her husband tackled his refusal reasons as well. Jane, you are far too kind oh! Thanks for all the prayers and kind words.

My GCMS notes arrived on the 12th of March, it seems to be the shortest GCMS notes have seen. The VO wrote that “ applicant has strong family ties in Canada”. To be honest, I was disappointed because I was expecting a more detailed notes. (I kuku report the VO to God)
Luckily for me the VO concern has been addressed in the new application.

What i did to Tackle the refusal reason based on family ties? I strengthened my HOME TIES. Having surfed through YouTube and Other forums, I realized that no one knows your story more than YOU when it comes to addressing Home/Family Ties.
I explained my responsibilities to my parent, I wrote extensively about how important my career in Nigeria is, my personal business and ongoing projects.

Aside being an employee of a reputable agency, I further explained my other commitments and responsibilities that will make me return back to Nigeria and I ed my explanations with valid documents. Although the commitments were briefly mentioned in the first application but this time it was detailed and I connected how my absence will affect each of them. I included more documents to each claim unlike the first application. To be honest, it wasn’t by the documents but God was fully involved. I think Baba God was tired of me murmuring my application number every morning and night, hence the PPR. lol!

The wait for PPR isnt for the faint hearted especially when you see people who applied after you sharing their timelines (e go come be like say na only you waka come). God of NLP answers prayer, I prayed and fasted fervently for this PPR. Chail! IRCC messed with my mental health. The plan was to visit my spouse after his first academic year but I couldn’t because of the pandemic. As it is, the visa got approved just in time for convocation (graduation is this summer) although Graduation wasn’t stated for purpose of visit, it was plainly “family reunification “


May this kind of joy go round. To all PPR hopefuls, it is just a delay not a denial.

I stumbled upon Egypt air, 315k naira, please those experienced, is it okay?

I used Egyptair 5years ago and it was okay for me. Don't know why people don't like using them. Except for the long lay over which they even provided an hotel at no cost ooo. .. you can check for current reviews. I used ethopia in Dec, not bad too but long flight. Took me 2days to get to Vancouver. I personally do not like BA though. Others are good but plenty money. So try Egyptair

Not as hard as you're describing it. Someone did it recently. And there was no issue. All u need do is inform Immigration officer at Canada border u Wana flagpole ,they'll direct you to the right place, and if it's not possible they'll tell you right away, obviously you still have you Visitor's permit or any other legal permit Valid.
Immigration officers will tell you what to do, so you're not gonna fall in any " no man's land" 1, 2 ,3 , 4 5 etc people have done it successfully. If you know anyone who was caught in no man's land, pls tell the person to come explain himself here, and no speculations.

You have to visit the US as part of the flagpoling process. If you are not issible to the US then you will not be able to complete the flagpoling process. There is also the risk of being caught between both countries, denied entry to Canada and the US.

Thanks. Ours was family ties, but honestly I don't know how else to prove family ties because we had declared family (aged parents and siblings), properties, employment letter and leave letter. Right now, waiting for GCms note before we can proceed.

Please state his obligations to his parents that are sensitive and strong enough to bring him back to Nigeria. In my case I stated that my husband takes my father inlaw on his routine medical check up. Luckily I was able to attach a picture of my husband's last visit and I claimed the picture was taken during his last medical routine checkup. I also claimed my husband is the only son and culture demands he takes care of his aged parents especially now that mother-inlaw is late, father inlaw is emotionally and financially dependent on my husband. If you can reach out I can help more. I addressed everything without a Gcms note. From my count I gave like 9 hometies which I believe were sufficient enough to counter his lack of travel history and having his whole family in Canada

For family ties we had explained he is the last and very close to his parents. His aged parents are still very much alive and his 5 siblings too were mentioned. Submitted landed properties too. Employment Letter and leave letter, still it was refused. Anyways we have applied for GCms notes to know exactly what he meant by family ties.

So sorry about this. Family ties and purpose of visit seems to be their flimsy excuse these days. Very sad. Please stay encouraged, the next one will be successful by God's grace

What was the reason for the first rejection and how did you tackle it?

Rejection reasons were: Purpose of visit, family ties to Canada and home country, Travel history. For family ties, I addressed it with assets and his aged father. I stated how he is saddled with the responsibility of taking care of his aged father who is 80 both emotionally and financially.... a lot went into this part I won't lie. Purpose of visit, was to bring my younger son to me and also be able to visit me during his vacation especially during important moments in our lives such as wedding anniversary, birthdays and graduation and to also assist settle my son in with me this period. I didn't do so much with the travel history part, I just stated that he is a family oriented person and has focused on building his own family and taking care of his aged parents all this years.. couple with his own career pursuit so this hasn't given him time to plan a vacation abroad but he is doing it now because it has become necessary to his wife's dream. With a 7page LOE God came through. He will come through for you ijn. I know how you feel but just hang in there.

God has done it!!!!! Husband's VV approved after a rejection in Janaury. Reapplied 3days after and approval just came in

I wish to get a clearer response on this too. It will be of great help . We have also seen applicants with sowp and visitor's visa being approved.

I can bet it's an Sowp and Visiting Visa application. Different VOs with different perception and different intuition. A friend has also applied for study and visiting for her kids and both were approved. Make we just dey pray for this grace

Pls send your port for stamping first. If your resumption in Canada is close, u can decide to defer to enable u ample time to figure things out.

My husbands Visitor's record will be 3 months on the 8th of March.
Eligibility started 24th of January and someone here said he got one month and ten days after eligibility started, so I am hoping it's the same in our case.

My husband sent a message to five MPs, more of them in Ontario and not a single response from them. I also requested for GCM notes and it will be one month sometime this month, I hope I get some if not all the answers I want by then.

There are 2 categories of Visiting Visas. The regular visiting visa before covid and the family reunification vv. I do not think the later is up to 224 days, they are most likely referring to the former as family reunification has always been given priority even in the midst of Covid #Myobservation

A BAN is liken to a refusal, we can liken it to a great-grandfather of a refusal..

So any school should refund the tuition fees back with the exception of an istrative fee.. The refund policy of most schools is that the only reason for a refund is when an applicant is refused visa i.e. when an applicant's study permit application isn't approved...

So a BAN is a senior refusal, so the applicant should be refunded in any school, not just Algonquin..

Not true. Some schools won't refund once its a ban as its seen as illegal attempt to deceive or manipulate your application. An example of such school is UCW and its clearly written on their refund policy. You can't compare a ban and a refusal. A ban is issued on the ground of deceit, while a refusal is no offense committed, one can always reapply
