We all make mistakes when starting out in domaining, it's part of the journey. But there are certain lines we need to draw early on to avoid staying stuck as a newbie... or worse, becoming an annoying domainer.

If you want to be taken seriously and respected in the community, avoid these common habits:

1. Stop sending long lists of low-quality domains into DMs.
Sending 30 random names with “interested?” helps no one. If someone’s open to buying, they’ll ask. Lead with value, not volume.

2. Don’t domains and ask for appraisals.
If you're not confident in the name, don’t buy it. Posting in 5 groups for validation doesn’t make it valuable. Research first, later.

3. Avoid comment spam.
Someone says "domain" and you reply with your full for-sale list? Not cool. It's noisy and makes you look desperate, not serious.

4. Don’t hijack threads.
If someone shares a sale or starts a discussion, don’t jump in with your promo. Respect the space and the conversation.

5. Don’t buy what you can’t hold.
If you can’t hold a domain for 2–3 years, don’t buy it. Quick flips rarely work, and trying to dump bad names ruins trust.

6. Respect privacy.
No sharing of private convos, or gossiping about other domainers. Be the one others trust.

7. Don’t annoy buyers.
If someone posts a sale, don’t chase their buyer with your low-quality names. You're burning bridges for the whole industry.

8. Act like it’s a real business, because it is.
Be professional. Be polite. Follow up with respect. In domaining, your reputation is your most valuable asset.
