Contrary to news making the rounds that actress, Halima Abubakar has been diagnosed with cancer, her Ghanaian manager, Anah Abi, has said the actress is battling with complications from a fibroid removal surgery she had sometime ago.

In an exclusive chat with Sunday Scoop, she said, “Halima has shared a lot about what’s happening to her before in the past, so it is just natural for her to share this as well. She’s never scared to share anything that she’s going through. We thank God that she’s responding to treatment though she’s still weak but she has a lot of wonderful people around her. She would be having her next surgery in two weeks so for now, she has to rest. The information going round that she has cancer is totally false.
She already said it herself that it is fibroid. She has also thanked the Kogi State First Lady who has been very kind to her. She had complications from the initial fibroids operation that she had. We are grateful because a lot of people prayed for her and I believe that’s the essence of the post Tonto Dikeh made. Aside medicine, she needs prayers too.”

Speaking on the controversial social media post and picture by Tonto Dikeh, in which Halima was shown with her head completely shaven, which many took to mean the effects of chemotherapy used to treat cancer, Abi said, “Tonto is Halima’s best friend. She came to Lagos to shoot a movie and called Halima who then told her that she was in the hospital. Tonto immediately came to the hospital and took her to her hotel. She left the work she came for and spent time with Halima. People that have been praying for her should keep doing so and ignore the pictures. She is comfortable enough to be seen anyhow she is. Besides, Halima has posted worse pictures of herself, so there is no big deal in what Tonto posted.”

When Sunday Scoop sought to speak with Halima, our correspondent was informed that she was sleeping and couldn’t speak to anyone for now.

Eucharia Anunobi is spitting fire on her Instagram.

Today, the former actress-turned-evangelist took to her Instagram to spit venom at church pastors/general overseers whom she says treat their younger pastors unfairly.

“This thing of sending an assistant pastor to start a new branch WITHOUT any financial assistance, asking them to go and ‘prove’ their ministry looks like wickedness in religious robe,” she began in her post, though she didn’t name names.

The 13th edition of African Movie Academy Award went down as one of the most star packed events of the year. As usual, it was an event that made so many people look forward to seeing top female Nigerian celebrities on the red carpet..

But to our utmost dismay, actors like Omotola Jalade, Mercy Aigbe, Toyin Abraham, Mercy Johnson, Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic were not at the event which got a lot of people wondering.

The Africa Movie Academy Awards has been one of the most anticipated awards in Africa and as the years go by, the award becomes more competitive .


Nollywood divas were not at the event and it left us with the question of why they were absent. Was it because they were not nominated for the awards or they had more important businesses to attend to?

For the Fashionista, Mercy Aigbe, report had it that she is presently not in the country, but if she was nominated in any of the categories, would she not have been there?

Speaking about the other actresses who may be probably around, what do you think could have made them shun the event. If they were not nominated like some have stated as their reason for not attending, how about their colleagues and friends that were nominated, couldn’t they have been there to cheer and celebrate with them?

Truth be told, it seems Nigeria is concentrating more on producing good movies and neglecting individual performance as they allow other country to cart away these awards. This explains why for the very first time in history, no Nigerian actor won an individual category at the 2017 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) .

Senegalese movie, ”Felicite”, became the biggest winner of the night as the movie scooped a total of six awards which include awards for best film, best actress in a leading role and best actor in a ing role.
