A milestone is like a guarantee that the employer will pay you. He pays the milestone to freelancer, so he gets to release it once you are through with the job.
It is always advisable that you request for a milestone and ensure that he sets the milestone before you lay your hands on any project. You can also endeavour to read other previous posts on this thread so as to guide you.

I have come to understand that SEO in freelancing is like picking beans. Though it is small, you can pick about 300 articles at a go. and most articles are about 300 words and the average pay you can get from someone who is sourcing a project out is $1.5/300words or if you are lucky to get a direct job from an employer, you can receive $5/300words either way just note that SEO projects always come in bulk and most of the time, you will see your self sourcing out your jobs so that you can meet with employers date line. Sometimes I prefer doing SEO as a team, and I already working on a website where I will offer such services.

I started on freelancer today and got my first job with my first bid.

To be candid with you, there is no barrier for entering the market as a new freelancer, even if you are from Nigeria.

Forget about what some people will tell you that being from Nigeria or Africa might limit your chances. In as much as you know what you are doing, you can survive on any freelancing platform.

Last semester, I started on Upwork, immediately I resumes school. Today, I've earned more than a thousand dollar.

This is not to boast, though. I am only chipping this in for those who are still doubting the system. Thanks to people like theladywriter. If more people are like her in nigeria, I.e. not selfish, we won't ever be suffering in Nigeria.
