Hi all, Reading back on the thread, I saw that you got your PPR recently. Please I'll like to know if you submitted your port to Lagos, Abuja or Kenya and how long did it take for you to receive your port back? cc: Greyworld tobe1997 techgen Vankayyyyy Rez86 damyzel sammiy Roseroyce |

Greyworld: That is awesome. I was reading stories about Lagos VAC taking up to a month. We were considering sending to Kenya VFS. What do you think? |

Good day, everyone, Some of us may recall when I came here to ask questions regarding a study permit for my brother. We applied the first time and got refused. Then we made some improvements and applied again. He was denied, but it didn't sit well with us because we fulfilled all the requirements. We decided to opt for a judicial review, and everyone was praying. The court told us (through our lawyer) that IRCC had agreed to settle, and another officer would determine the case. We then got an email from IRCC asking for updated documents. Our lawyer was kind enough to stick with us through it all. He even provided us a cover letter which we submitted alongside the additional documents. Ordinarily, our contract with him expired when we got the settlement outcome, and he wasn't legally obligated to help us any further. But he did and guided us till we got the PPR! Now, my little challenge is where to tell my brother to submit his port. When I got PR back then, we used to get news of which VAC was faster. But I am not sure what is obtainable these days. Please, between Lagos VAC and Abuja VAC, which is the best one to submit a port after getting PPR for a Canada study permit? If you submitted your port recently, how long did it take to get back your port? School starts in January, so we hope to conclude this part as soon as possible. Also, I have seen the documents to bring along for the port submission, but I would appreciate your help with the list of documents as well, just to ensure we are not missing anything. Thanks so much in advance. |

Ajebogirl: Congratulations! I hope your journey here is fruitful and massively successful. I wanted to ask, about upfront medical, can one do it after submitting an application? Did you raise a webform to submit it or it automatically reflected in your ? 1 Like |

I searched for this thread on Google using the term "the middle path sarassin" and this thread came up as the number one result. Perhaps, the realization that I am neither here nor there made me seek out this thread again. It didn't quite fulfil my search intent, but it's a great read. Seven years later and I still struggle to grasp some of the content OP posted. Seven years later, it feels nostalgic going through the thread again. I am grateful for where we all are now. Super grateful for my experience those days. Perhaps, someday, I will share how Nairaland (the people I met here) became my past, present and future. Dear LoJ, Dear OP, I hope you are alive and well and thriving. I am. Thank you two for everything, more for those I am/was unaware. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

JMG12: Thank you. Is there a GIC option for people doing regular stream, not Nigerian student express? Which bank, please. I called Scotiabank, but they said they don't do for Nigerians. |

zubizareta: Please this GIC, is it for regular stream or for NSE. Also, can I send you a DM? |

Frankrobbn1: Please which exchange rate do the visa officers use, the Canada one or the black market one? Really need clarification on this. |

joanna13: I feel like this makes sense. Perhaps, a better option would have been to show other properties and assets too? |

JMG12: Ohhh I see. So we should have made the amount up to two years. The course duration is 16 months. The tuition was 21,225 CAD, but that was paid in full. But just to confirm, if we have the full POF for two years, we don't need to show how much salary he earns, right? |

JMG12: Thank you for this. My bro was also denied for the same reasons. 1. He may not leave Canada at the end of the study due to no strong ties. 2. The money is insufficient without working 3. The money is won't be enough to transport him to and fro Canada. He had 11 million in the , with full school fees paid. We showed evidence of land sale for the bulk money. My question is, for a single person like him, what else can he show that will prove strong ties. We included a letter from his employer, but we did not include anything about the payment he gets because it is too small (about 70k). Should we have included it like that? Please, experienced people in the house, advise on what we can do better. Can he include our family properties even though they are not in his name? Is the 11 million too small for a 16 months course? Please help. |

zubizareta: Thank you so much. It didn't even occur to me to check the first page. I came here from Google. What about medicals? When do they usually go for it? After or before applying? Please let me know. |

Good morning, Hope your day goes well and thank you to everyone who contributes here. I know I have to read past posts to get the answers I need, but please help this new mom with quick answers. My brother got itted to the University of Calgary and we are looking to start the study permit application. Please can you help me list what we need to submit or point me to any post that will help. We intend to do regular application. Secondly, since I'm already in Canada, can I pay his school fees from here and send him the evidence of payment? Is it allowed to show evidence of school fees payment from a Canadian bank to the University's ? Will IRCC acknowledge it? Thirdly, what is the typical time frame from application to PPR and port collection? Also, I have forgotten the medicals process. Does he need to book one after applying for his permit or before. 1 Like |

nlfpmod: Even abroad, there are thrift shops, really big ones where people go to buy gently used (second hand) items. Visit these places and you'll find that people from all walks of life patronize them. 13 Likes 2 Shares |
