My son saw his friends playing a game called For the night and he wants a computer to play this on. Would it be better if I bought him a console or a PC for this game? I don't want him having access to bad things on the internet either so I'm hesitant to buy him a full fledged computer if I can avoid it.

just get him a Xbox Series S, would run every game he may want and costs between 400-600k, but note that to play his Fortnite and all games online, he'll always subscribe monthly.

Or get him a Desktop computer, purchase fortnite in it and let him have his fun. I would have suggested a laptop, but I usually never advice on laptops for gaming, because of thermal and battery.
