NIGERIA IS MORE DIVIDED THAN YOU THINK. (Extracts from my interview 10 years ago Sitting in front of about 12 managers of a major oil and gas company in Nigeria was a young man (myself) in his early 20's. I was asked "why did you choose to attend MAN ORON?" I replied saying it was because I knew I will secure a job in an oil company after graduation hence my decision to study marine engineering in Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron. (All shocked and eyes wide open). 20 minutes later one of the managers recalled my earlier response saying why did I say "I will get a job in an oil company after graduation"? This was my reply; I am from Bayelsa state and 4 years ago I was in Kaduna to chase my dream of becoming a military officer in the Navy so opted to sit for the Nigerian Defence Academy exams. After attending the interview, I was placed on reserve which meant that someone had to die or run away from my state for me to replace him. While waiting for this to happen as my mates had started training, l decided to attend a school of basic and remedial studies to secure ission into ABU Zaria. This school located in Funtua was designed to assist those having low WAEC grades secure an ission into ABU Zaria. On reaching Funtua to submit my application form, I noticed that a list of some students who had successfully completed their 1 year course was published and I decided to take a look for the fun of it. I noticed something bizarre about this list. Each student had their states of origin alongside their names and I realised that of the 1000 names published, only about 20 were from either of Benue, Plateu, Kogi, and at most Kwara. Guess what? The rest were from the north. I perused through the list to see maybe one Enugu, Akwa Ibom or Lagos state but I was disappointed I couldn't find even one. I said to myself that this is not right so I requested to see an official of the school and was taken to the dean's office. I introduced myself and inquired why the list had no south eastern or south western or south southerner? He said the school is for northerners so they can measure up to their pairs in other regions. I asked again; does that mean I will not secure an ission even though I have all my WAEC grades in A's and B's and C's ? He said yes that I should go back to the south to seek for ission. I was heartbroken and I left. Now sir with that mindset, I am very sure that having completed my course of study from MAN ORON, I will be given a preferential treatment as a south south candidate as compared to a northern candidate in an oil company since the oil is from the south and the company is located in the south. The hall became as quite as a graveyard and that ended my interview with mixed feelings. Guess what? I was given an ovation and your guess is right; yes I got the job. Cc: Lalatisclala 4 Likes |

There is this culture in Nigeria and other African countries which had been handed over from generations to generations. A young man or woman who is of age and is on his or her feet financially, is expected to take care of their aged parents both financially, emotionally and otherwise. This is a very good culture as it makes the young appreciate the work their aged parents did in making them who they have eventually become. This golden culture is solely African and not practiced in the west. But the sad part of this cultural practice is that its only viable in individual homes and not at the national level or center stage of the nation. Going through history and the struggle of the Infant Nigeria back in the 60’s I noticed that this was the practice as the leaders were very young and capable or could it be said that there were no older citizens to run the nation as there are now? I am yet to find the answer to this question of mine. His imperial majesty Haile Selassie Rastafari Makonnen l, king of kings of Ethiopia Elect of God said and I quote ‘’Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it for evil and bad to triumph’’. The youths of this nation are speaking and we want you to hear us out and also guide us in your immense wisdom. I did a mini survey over a period of 5 years and asked about a 1000 Nigerian youths mostly within my age range that if given the opportunity to choose when next they are coming back to this earth what country would they prefer being born into? Of the 1000 people I asked, only one girl said she would love to come back as a Nigerian. The response of the 999 is one of the main reasons you are reading my letter today. When I asked why they would rather not be Nigerians in their next life, they said ‘’naija na country too’’? I always ask so what are you doing about it to leave it better than how you met it? And they say ‘’na me spoil am, watin concern me? Make e de there na’’. The good news I bring to you today is we are now ready to take the center stage. We want to lead the nation just the way we have been leading our homes taking care of our elderly parents, the way you and your friends led in the days of old when you were young. In 2010 I was in an island of 10,000 people in the Caribbean and the hotel I was lodged had a receptionist who is a local and black. When he saw me he said my friend how are you and where are you from? I said I am from Africa. He said where in Africa and I responded west Africa. He dug further c’mon tell me where precisely are you from? I then gave in and said Nigeria. He smiled sheepishly and said come let me show you what Nigerians do here (I said hmm who send me message oh). He brought out a newspaper page where a Nigerian was advertising his business as a babalawo claiming to have all sorts of solutions ranging from love portion, quick money, commanding tongue and what have you. I felt a bit down but took it as one of those things. Nigerians want to survive especially the youths that’s why they travel to all the countries on this earth. We do not like to travel but survival instincts make us travel. Finally, it is said that Nigerians can survive anywhere in this world and that’s the truth. The youths have survived even here in Nigeria but survival is not enough. We want to live well and lead us as it is more of our country than the elderly. We have woken up from our slumber, we are tired of saying e go better. We want to make it better with our hands now. The Nigerian youths have what it takes as we are pulling heavy weights all over the world positively. We want to install ourselves as the leaders from the highest office to the lowest office of the land for a change since the recycling of our parents is not taking us anywhere. This is the 21st century so needs a 21st century mindset which I believe we have in abundance in the land. So on this note, papa OLUSEGUN OBASANJO endorse us, us, show us the way, take us by hand, uninstall them and install us, take a youth to Aso Rock Villa come 2019 for you are the way the truth and the life and no man goeth to Aso rock except through you papa OBJ. thank you for reading. Yours concerned citizen, Mike. #Forward till every youth reads this and Papa OBJ himself# 1 Like 1 Share |

AN OPEN LETTER TO FORMER PRESIDENT, GENERAL OLUSEGUN OBASANJO RTD Good day sir, My name is Engineer Mike, patriotic and concerned citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I want to make a reference from my religious book (the Bible; John 14:16). ‘’Jesus said verily verily I say unto you I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the father(God) except through me’’. Sir you are the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the father (Aso Rock) except through you baba OBJ. the whole world knows this and gives that to you without an iota of doubt. I love history and have followed Nigerian history from a very young age to the extent that I read the 1999 constitution of Nigeria cover to cover at the age of 11 though not willingly but I am happy my father made me do it. You have ruled Nigeria the longest and most developmental milestones are attributed to your name. Haven come into the corridors of power at an age round about my present age, I asked myself how intelligent can this esteemed father figure be? The more I studied or researched your history and past, the more I respect you. At this juncture, I would love to say a big thank you for your personal contributions to the entity Nigeria. GENERAL OLUSEGUN OBASANJO AREMU OKIKIOLA MATHEW AREMU DEACON RTD I hail thee. Pardon me if some of my word choices go unsettling. Take it that I am one of your sons who wants you to hear him out. |

It has happened in too in 1789 when the youths said enough is enough and underwent an epic transformation getting rid of old ideas and traditions that was heading no where replacing them with young people having new enlightened principles, citizenship and inalienable rights. The youths must grow above tribe, religion and sectionalism to instal our own choice candidate. If the youths vote a youth who is patriotic, educated, charismatic, focused, vast, and goal driven then a youth will emerge the president of Nigeria in 2019. #Age30-45ForPresidentOfNigeria2019# #totaloverhaul2019# |

Let's do a bit of history here: the American revolution in the 18th century had thirteen colonies in North America coming together to break free from the British Empire, combining to become what we have as the United States of America. They first rejected the authority of the parliament of Great Britain to govern them from overseas without representation and they expelled all royal officials. Cut long story short; Americans got their independent state devoid of any British involvements as from 1783. Even in Nigeria in 1966 when we started this Journey of self determination that brought us here today, the oldest of them all was 33 years old and for the last 50 years and more these set of people and their cronies are still in the corridors of power while we watch. That era has ed. I will not say the youths should wake up because we are wide awake now than ever. We the youths of Nigeria want to break loose from the shackles of self imposed visionless greedy older generation of leaders who do not have our collective youthful goals at heart. Zoning formula is a fanciful word for DICTATORSHIP. |

Until we the youths take over this nation and rule it with the 21st century mind, we will remind like this..

When I talk about youthful take over of this country people say I am day dreaming or having a nightmare. See our country. Youths let's rise up now or remain silent for ever. How long do we see this visionless men steal our collective future including that of our children ![]() 1 Like |

What is democracy? This is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible of a state. Typically through elected representation. I can't find where these words; "zoning formula", "Christian Muslim ticket", "muslim Christian ticket" are in the definition of democracy.

Repairnigeria: You are very correct my bro. The educated minds of Nigeria are not bigoted religiously either Muslim or Christian or trad worshiper. We have a common enemy so that makes us friends to chase away our foes. All we need is the internet and sanitation process which has already begun. This is a revolution you are seeing. Every minute a new youth will buy into the vision and in no time, we have a United front. When the world sees that Nigerian youths want to lead their destiny by themselves, they will us from far and wide because a good NIGERIA is a better earth as we know the talents of our brothers all over the world. 1 Like |

Trut: I am not waiting I am acting we are acting. You need to act too. That mediocre mindset please my good friend throw it away. I do not know your age but I am sure you are wise enough to know when things are not in order around you. We need to take ourselves serious to be taken serious by a 3rd party. We will install a president from the streets who has our collective mindset and qualities in 2019. This is the internet and jet age. We have already started so educate yourself and the youths around you. You are not too young to be a governor of a state or a senator or rep member. God bless you my new friend in the goal ahead. 1 Like |

We have all what it takes to take back our birth right (leadership) This is not a time for self pity but actions. We have the internet for sensitization and mobilization. We are intelligent and well educated. there are more youths than any other age range in the country. We refused to sit and read news or watch them on TV anymore. #30-45yearsForNigeriansPresident2019#. 2 Likes |
