One of our guys here @Valto sells good lithium batteries which s have vouched for. He has batteries within your budget.

Another recent popular name here is cworth but reviews here has shown that they are grade B cells. I don't know how true it is.

The other one is Deriy battery packs.

If I'm in your shoes right now I think I'd go with the first option.

It wouldn't be also bad if you mention your overall budget for the solar system you're planning for. It will enable people guide you properly.

There is also talk about PowMr lithium batteries. You may want to check it out.

No single phase has 4mppts, you can get 4 mppt and above on HV models.
Grab Deye brochure here:

Global: https://hqcdn.hqsmartcloud.com/deyeinverter/2025/03/19/rand/4782/brochure-250319-en.pdf
Africa: https://www.deyeinverter.com/deyeinverter/2025/03/19/brochure-250319-za.pdf

Capacities are the same, protections has been improved, newer models have more surge tolerance, casings have been redesigned, colored screens have been introduced.

It's always advised to go for new models in every invention.

Thank you bros.

Hahahaha, The AM2 models has got absolutely nothing to do with Naija. I also stumbled on a thread where someone said AM=African Market. grin

Here is Deye Model Number Coding for those who cares to know.

SUN - Product line

3K, 5K, 10K, etc - capacity

SG - Hybrid models. Grid tied are G0

01, 02, 03, 04, 05 - Release version (Compact Version & Big Version for client to choose according to space available for installation)

L, H - LV/HV battery

P1,2,3 - the number of phases. 1 - Single Phase, 2 means US Split Phase, 3-phase

EU, US - Region

A - 5-29kw

B - 29.5-50kW

E - 60-80kWh

S - Lock catch case (?)

M - MPPT

1/2/3/4 - Number of MPPT

-P ?
(Some have extra P on the end and there has not been any official statement to clarify what it denotes).

Bros is there a single phase Deye that has 4 mppt (8kw to 16kw).

Had you had the privilege of contrasting between the old & new model Deye (say 12kw or 16kw models). Is there any feature, improved build or construction that should make one be advised to go for the newer model.

Looking forward to your insight.

Thanks a lot bros,

I actually took the snapshot at around midday hence my ~98kw generation, my actual daily consumption goes up to around 210KW on average, Abuja Disco band A charged me ~N225.23/kw (VAT Inclusive) as at May 2024 and that was when it dawned on me that it's time to abandon the grid totally.

So if I go by N225.23 x 210KW = N47,298 per day and N1,466,247.30 per 31 days of the month.

Now that's a whole lot of energy bill to cope with abeg.

No doubt my brother, it's a lot for anyone to shell out considering many competing needs before us. Worse is that it is most probable that the energy costs will continue to increase going forward. Going solar is worthwhile.

Is your snapshot UI from Deye or third party energy monitor? It looks clean and detailed.

That’s the annoying thing.

Self defense seems to have vanished from Nigerian law.

You the Supreme Court recently affirmed death sentence for an Adamawa who killed a Fulani herdsman.

Is it a hopeless situation?

It won't be out of place if anyone considers it a hopeless situation afterall it has lingered on for too long. I can also add that it's an intentional hopeless situation. These people in power know what is happening and know what should be done.

However, political considerations are making it a hot topic. The day an istration with the political will to do what is right for it's numerous citizens across the country takes control, this madness will stop abruptly. In my opinion, this madness has been artificially allowed to fester for too long.

Is it that Mba is helpless or what is he doing to arrest this ugly trend?

Or was this part of the deal he cut before they helped him steal Edeoga’s mandate?

It appears his strategy is to bury his head in the ground. Believing if he doesnt acknowledge the issue then it doesn't exist. The way FG & especially state gov are playing dumb with this menace across the country is frankly annoying. When will enough be enough?!

Sadly even if the community organises themselves to protect their community, Federal & State security comes for them, arrest them and label them trouble makers that are taking laws in their hands.

So I did a little calculation today. I could not believe that I would be needing to pay NEPA almost 110K daily on Band-A.

I wonder how would have coped with BAND-A Tariff without Solar Energy.

Someone should help me check how much I would have been spending on daily energy needs without solar.

Because it seems I got it wrong.

My brother, I think you miscalculated. Your total production as at time you took the snapshot was ~98kwh. Abuja Disco band A should be around N209.50k. So that is 98 kwh × N209.5 = N20,531. I would guess that your daily cost may be in the region of N30k or ~145kwh.

Even at N20k a day, that's averages N600k of electricity in a month.

I'm not satisfied with my solar harvest. Have 24 s - 8 s in series x 3 strings. But I've observed my batteries don't get fully charged most days. The few times I've checked each strings hardly generates constant 2.2kw which is under 50% of combined string connection.

560w x 8
560w x 8

Yes, I bought from Fouani. So sure of the s.

How do i do check this?

From the best of my knowledge, it is as i use it with my inverter freezer with no issues at all. i dont notice flicking on the lights. And with my fans no noise or humming sounds.

At the time of need, I had someone come over with an equipment and he said that sachet inverter wasn't pure sine wave. From your other response it appears yours is pure sine wave since it doesn't display the tell tell signs of an MSW. Is your inverter sachet inverter? What is the continuous Watt rating?

Hello My Ogas,

Please i notice when i use my inverter to power my Fridge , it light of the fridge flicks abit, not so much but its noticable.

But with nepa, no flicking is observed, what could be the issue, i use same inverter with all the appliance in the house with no issues at all.

Can any one help with what could be wrong?

Can you check if your inverter produces pure sine wave current. Some inverter produced modified sine wave & that can cause this kind of flickering on the refrigerator from my experience.

Sorry to digress but Why did you discard the growatt ?
Was it faulty ?

No bros. It wasn't faulty. My updated needs meant I needed more than 5kw capacity hence the change.

I've now moved the growatt to another place where it's work is required.

Experienced ogas in the house, is it possible to combine 2 independent inverters (same brand & capacity) AC output without paralleling them and having them.communicate as one?
mangolpupa: 10:01am On Jan 26
DrProf:

The AC chills very well. My installer told me that if the light gets low then the AC vibrates in a way that disturbs the valve end. I don't think it's an installation issue but I don't think my installer is right either.

Now it's established it chills very well. So the issue as I can see is the water leaking .
You've also advised that vibration disturbs the valve which causes water to leak.

My informed solution open to your ultimate consideration is

1. Get a great quality AVR that is proven to supply & maintain a steady voltage, so that your panasonic will be feed a steady and reliable 220v. This should eliminate vibration in the first instance.

2. I maintain there is a potential installation concern. Water outlet hoses is not securely done will leak overtime. Please have your installer take his time to firmly secure the water outlet hose from inside unit to the outdoors.

It is also worth ensuring the indoor hose taking water outdoors is at a sloping angle. This will help water from the indoor unit effortlessly find its way out with help of gravity. (You may have to ignore aesthetics at the worst).

Let us known how it goes. Best wishes

I read that Panasonic is the best from nairaland so I bought a Panasonic AC made in Malaysia, but I am not liking my Panasonic AC that I bought because every 6 months it starts leaking from the thinner valve. I am tired of always calling a technician every 6 months. A technician told me to change the kit from white hose to black one but yet the problem still persists.

Chief does the AC chill very well to your satisfaction? If yes, then I would posit that issue you are experiencing is an installation issue which can be corrected by the right hands. This is my 1 penny suggestion.

Both are good but Panasonic is better and more expensive, its been serving me for 3 years plus without any issue. When I can't afford to buy more Panasonic that's when I go for Hisense. It's cooling as well but Panasonic cools faster. Sorry, I can't find the model. It's been 3 years plus.

That's ok. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Thanks you, I have 4 panasonic 1.5 hp inverter, 5 Hisense, 2) 1.5 hp, 3)1.hp all inverter units. I ran 2 of 1.5 hp either Hisense or Panasonic with couple of fans during the day time without any issue on solar. Sure, solar is expensive it's paid off overtime, I don't even need NEPA during the day to run my basic need with the kind of system I have, its can also be upgradeable according to your pocket. If its costing me almost 100k to fill my tank every 3 - 4 days in Lagos traffic . I can't imagine running the entire house on generator with the cost of fuel this day, the annoying thing to me is that generator noise. One need knowledgeable installer like TwinKenny to achieved good result. He handle the entire electrical, CCTV, Music System, Starlink from A -Z with no issues till date. Please don't be scared my system don't even cost 20m talk to Kenny about getting the right equipment is the key. Thank you Kenny for the good job shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Hi Boss, how has the panasonic inverter been serving you. Between it & the inverter hisense, which do you feel is better (cools well).

Do you mind sharing if disposed, the model of the inverter panasonic ac?

Firmware update on top of unofficial Voltronic OS..

So are SRNE, Growatt official voltronic OS?

Off course, MPPT MPPT....
Some MPPT waster so much power during conversion, because the Buck converters have different grades.

Growatts na better Soup... I have tested some Hybrid MPPT and was surprised to see power wastage.

Erroneously assumed, mppt were generic across board until I started observing that my Sako is not pumping as much juice as anticipated based on my previous experience with Growatt. The Sako has an mppt input range of 90v - 450v while my growatt is 120v - 430v. It doesnt look like the sako mppt range is too wide or different.

Could this still be a potential cause of relative inefficiency.
mangolpupa: 1:50am On Jan 17
samir101ng:

Different brands like Deye, Growatt, SRNE, TBB Power, Huawei etc use different internal components and charging algorithms for their MPPT. Infact, some brands like the Voltronic/Axpert range of inverters have a known float bug that affects the charging algorithm of their mppt. Some of these issues are fixed by firmware updates but for the most part yes there can be a difference. If your moving from a previous budget tier to a Growatt, ofcourse there is a noticeable difference, however, there are several other brands out there too that give the Growatt a run for their money.

TBB Power has been popping up lately on the forum, do you have info on how to get a distributor?

I thought growatt & srne were some kind of voltronic/axpert system albeit modified.

I went from Growatt to Sako. My experience is that my old growatt charges better. The Sako is still serving well though. But I only wish it would give me the growatt efficiency which I experienced.

I will check if there is a firmware update for the inverter.

To our experts or experienced people in the house,
are all mppt in our hybrid inverters created equal. Are there brands that are known for effective & efficient charging.

I ask because the rate & efficiency of charge I experienced using growatt inverter appears to be better. Any thoughts on this
