1. The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, itted Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTM), to bail in the sum of N1 billion. Justice Okon Abang, who gave the ruling, also ordered that Maina must produce two sureties, who must be serving senators. The two lawmakers, according to the judge, must not be standing any criminal trial in any court in the country. 2. The Lagos State Government says it plans to restrict the movement of heavy duty trucks in the metropolis during the day so as to ease traffic on the roads. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who made this known on Monday at the Lagos House, Ikeja, when a team from the Nigerian Breweries Plc paid him a courtesy visit, said that the state would soon come up with comprehensive plan and decisions on traffic management in order to resolve the gridlock. 3. The University of Ibadan chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday, set up a monitoring committee to ensure that none of her enlist on the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System. UI ASUU, which announced the committee at a well-attended congress of the union held at the Faculty of Arts of the institution, maintained her stand, citing peculiarities and university act while the Federal Government has maintained that none of her employees will be exempted for the enrollment. 4. Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has relieved the state Head of Service (HOS), Mr Mohammed Hassan, of his appointment. Alhaji Usman Shuwa, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday in Maiduiguri, disclosed that the governor also approved the appointment of Mr Simon Malgwi, as the new HOS, adding that the appointment was with immediate effect. 6. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has split into two, with a former governorship aspirant, Dr Umar Ardo, leading a splinter faction. Dr Umar, who addressed newsmen in the state capital, Yola, on the development on Monday, said the PDP at the state level had long been an illegality and he was leading Reformed PDP (R-PDP) out because all efforts he made to get the PDP to make amends had failed. 7. The Kogi government has accused Dino Melaye of being responsible for the violence in the state during the just concluded governorship and Senatorial election. Mohammed Onogwu, Chief Press Secretary to Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, said the Kogi government has video evidence to prove that Melaye was distributing money on the day of election. 8. The Police in Anambra State have rescued two children, Confidence Ejike ‘f’ five years old and Blessing Ejike ‘f’ seven months old. SP Haruna Mohammed, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who paraded suspected of a child stealing syndicate at the command headquarters, said the children were rescued following a tip off. 9. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday arraigned one Pastor Afolabi Samuel, at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing $90,000 and N4.5m property of the ed Trustees of the Living Faith Church, Canaan land, Ota, Ogun State. Samuel, who was a church ant, was brought before Justice Mojisola Dada. The EFCC prosecutor, S. O. Daji, alleged that the defendant committed the alleged offences sometime on September 24 and December 31, 2018, in Lagos, Vanguard reports. 10. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, cautioned the leadership of the Senate to resist any forms of intimidation from the Buhari Presidency to surrender its independence and bills and requests without statutory legislative scrutiny and oversights. The party’s position is predicated on the blanket comment credited to the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, that any request from Buhari to the National Assembly is good for the nation, even without subjecting such requests to statutory legislative scrutiny.
