I work in NHS hospitals through agencies, I don’t do care homes or nursing homes either and I have never been asked to do personal care in NHS Hospitals where I have worked and still working…

I would think that should be for domiciliary waka, the one where you go to people's houses, which fit be wahala sometimes, all the driving and sometimes meeting strange people for house, better in my opinion to work in structured settings - hospitals/care homes where them no fit dey accuse you of anything anyhow.

ID Medical, Newcross, Medline and the rest usually were paying like £24, 26 for HCAs for Sundays, so basic rate is lower (or at least as at last year).

Many agencies pay even above that BUT they are location dependent…. Majority of those agencies can be found in London area or metropolis, some can be found in the West Midlands as well.. A simple google or indeed search will provide you with enough, but it’s more easier working for this agencies IF YOU DRIVE, their location of services are far…

You are very right, those who don’t believe don’t have to believe. You might be earning £20 per hour as a carer if you work for an agency, depending on the type of agency you work for/your role… Got here December last year, started with an agency who was paying £11.5, felt the money wasn’t enough, moved to another agency paying £20 per hour on weekdays, £25 on weekends… Same Healthcare Job… Still heard about another agency that pay as high as £30 per hour but not currently recruiting HCA… Bottom line is, £11 per hour is really a small amount to some people even way before they came here…

Actually it’s settling for peanuts. You can start from somewhere with better paying jobs. We need to dead this mindset that we have to start from scratch with jobs in fields we are well versed in unless it’s a completely new field. Nigerians get hired from Nigeria and move abroad to well paying jobs. Let’s not set the bar too low for ourselves, it’s very possible to get great paying jobs even if you are a newbie in a city. This isn’t even aspire to maguire, it’s the reality of people that I know that moved here, to the US and to Canada. #peace

The other day i saw a student driving a jeep. Is the jeep the car he should buy now? Mind you that person has not finished paying school fees and he did not buy the jeep on credit. If the jeep is cheap he should also think about maintenance.

So many people started using the latest iphone within a short time of coming here using credit to buy a phone they could afford while in Nigeria.

I know of someone who drives a very nice benz very clean benz and this person is on minimum wage. At the end of the day, these are the people that will shout nothing in UK. Meanwhile the person is funding a temptation he cant afford for now.

I dont know if there is anything in UK cos I am still in school and I dont do more than myself for now at least.

Just FYI, I converted to USD and sold the USD at N685 this morning. It summed up to N828 per £ now. You have to that the Currency relate with each in other in different ways. USD, for instance, has a higher demand in Naija, so most times, converting to USD first would typically increase the value. Also, CBN gives N5 for every USD received.

So like I said, it could swing either way and it's not garbage in, garbage out.

I was quoted £400 each at the auto center I took my car to, I told them no I can’t buy 4 injectors for £1600, else I will add money and get another car… So following the advice I got several quotes through Ebay for £150 each, which means buying 4 will cost me £600 as opposed to the auto center £1600… I will be going to the scrap yard by 2 pm to see what I’m paying for myself, I will have it tested and if it works fine I will pay asap….

My drive time to work both to and fro is about 1 hour 20 minutes, and I’m using old model IS220d (2007), if after spending this much money and it starts doing nonsense again, I will be selling it asap… Make one car no go send me go back home

2. I went to Lloyds bank to switch my from Barclays, I wasn’t told there would be a hard search on my credit file, while I was with the bank assistant, I just received a notification that a search has been made… Within the minute, the bank assistant told me the application to switch bank and getting a bonus switch of £150 has been declined… I just left the bank not knowing they’ve ripped my credit score that I’m managing to build little by little…

It is really terrible. As we speak, my hubby has terrible chest pains. He was given appointment yesterday but on getting to the hospital, he spent the whole day there. He was told doctors were having a meeting. After spending thewhole day , they rebooked him to some day in June, that that is the earliest appointment they have.
