for a refund and went ahead with air Canada ticket for August 13th , lol everyone was feeling for me saying sorry for the experience, I knew the risk ahead and was just laughing in my mind , so another worry was whether I needed to pay part of my tuition or just used my 1500 tuition deposit, lol I decided to use the tuition deposit since I am allowed to pay on orientation day or first day of resumption and there was no policy insisting on tuition payment , I made my plan for August 13 and the day came , we arrived to the airport around 4 ,didn't pay any agricultural people ,went straight to Lufthansa stand , they weighed my bag ,below the 23kg, went to the check in stand, they asked only for my enrollment letter and covid test and I was cleared to fly, collected my boarding and went to chill with family, pre boarding was by 8:30pm , hugged family and left, we r not that emotional here so no one cried lol , I paid 500# so I ed through fast track which was like for first class people or so, got to immigration and my port was stamped then went through security where we brought our laptops and removed our shoes, then straight to the airline boarding check and covid check and that was it , boarding was in phases, got into the plane and left exactly 10:55 pm , can't bank on their movies , had mine which I enjoyed, food was white man's food but I ate it all except the ice cream which was too sweet, paid so much already lol, got to Frankfurt went to my boarding gate gave them my boarding and they reprinted my air Canada boarding , layover was four hours but check in started like one hour ahead, checked for only port and covid test and that's it we boarded and flew , food was white again but I ate them all, landed in Toronto finally, people who had transiting ticket came out first, then we came out , scanned our ticket ,took a pics and move over to first immigration where they ask for your purpose of study , port and declaration slip then move ahead to the study permit people, my friend advised me to go to the colored immigration officers because they don't like stress but lol I didn't pay mind much and went directly to a white man , before I begin I have to say naturally I can't stay still, so I went to his cubicle, he kept on his mask ,asked my school and location, I told him, he asked for ission letter and receipt, I gave him that and my tuition deposit, he checked for my profile and asked how I intend to pay my remaining fees and take care of my self, I gave him my brother statement of , he looked at it and opened my port and asked have I ever travel out of the country , I said no, then he asked if I was nervous, l smiled and said not really, he said because I was pacing a lot then he said if I had anyone in Canada , I said just two friends or so, he said where are they , I said 1 in Toronto and Alberta they were my highschool friends, he the said I should to my school , my school just sent me that like 2 days before I travelled , meanwhile one guy that went to a black border officer has left ,the Nigerian guy beside me didn't bring SOA so they called a senior immigration officer to analyse his case but the guy has travelled to UK and before, was observing his case also, back to my case, I logged in and gave him my phone, don't know what he was looking for dere just doing over Sabi,he gave me back my phone and said I haven't ed for classes and why was that , I told him but I am enrolled for classes and gave him my enrollment letter , he took it and then said just give me all your documents, he got it and he looked through my ission letter , enrollment letter, travel letter, tuition deposit, residence approval letter In my school , residence deposit and application fees, I prepare well for them lol, he gave me all my documents and said keep it, for my mind ask me more nonsense lol, putting this poor boy under unnecessary pressure, he stamped my port and went to print my study permit and saying u can work bla bla bla like he was a better person , he asked if I had any questions to asked , I said how can I get my sin , as he was answering, I wasn't even listening was just thinking in mind thank God finally, he said welcome to Canada and left through the exit door which means I am officially in Canada, i went to get my bag and I was so happy I saw that my fellow Nigeria guy who didn't bring soa with me looking for his bag, for those who haven't travelled yet, the most important thing is the Visa , the interview is to see if your documents are genuine and u r what u say you are in your application, if you can pay part of your tuition ,pay it, if u can't carry your tuition deposit receipt and statement of of your sponsor or urself if u r sponsoring yourself, also have a plan for your accommodation in school whether in campus residence or of campus, thank you all for reading, this nairaland is a community and the reason why this page have so much success is because what we do here Good day nairaland family, here is my application story and landing gist, before you begin to read you should know this was an imperfect application God perfected, last year after covid19 hit , I started taking my study thought more seriously, I engaged my brother who advised I get a lawyer since we didn't know much about the process, we got one and he said all the nicest things to us about the need to use a legal representation because with that I could always appeal any unfavorable decision so I was impressed and I decided to go on with him , we agreed like 600k and we were good to go, he sent the required form and then it was time to get ission, Nigeria university transcript stress began , I tried to get it but because of nasu strike I wasn't able to progress so I lost the first school because I wasn't able to get my transcript so I engaged my lawyer to see what my option was with this transcript wahala, he said we have to wait for it because with my engineering degree I needed to show academic progression, by that time I got tired of waiting and I wanted a solution not a waiting plan so I told him I heard I could get ission with only my waec and he said yes but it would be a diploma and it wouldn't should academic progression, I got confused and asked what do you mean by academic progression I want to spend my money and now u are telling me I can't spend it because of progression, it sounded very confusing to me so I told him he should get me a business istration degree and I would use our family business as a work progression ,he warned that I should be going for an MBA with my degree already and not a diploma, at that time the progression topic was still vague to me so I told him to go ahead that I would use some of my business and leadership certificate I got during my work experience in the oil and gas having worked for an IOC to show I am not green in the business world , he said it was my call and went ahead to secure the ission, I paid my deposit fee and we started preparing my documents for application, my family business employment letter , my brother statement of , sponsorship letter , letter of explanation, letter of submission by my lawyer, all my certificate, family cac documents, brother landed properties , after I felt I had reasonable documents , we applied around October 2020 then my wait began then NSE came , we were the first batch of NSE , so I wrote ielts and the proof of funds became a problem because I sent majority of the money in my to my dad's bank , so we just sent the money to my brothers making his to be like 13 mil after that I entered nairaland lol, that was when I understood what my lawyer was saying about progression bla bla bla, I started seeing strong applications, and people were bluntly stating if u applied for a diploma programe forget it and I was here with an engineering degree going for a college diploma, I decided to run to God , I don't know how to fast so I invested more in charity to be able to access God's heart and booking mass, in January I decided to go for medicals, I told my lawyer about it he said no ,he started behaving like I was disturbing him and that I would have to pay for any extra services he does for me after paying more than 600k, I ignored him and went ahead and did the upfront medicals and told him to send it for me since he was in charge of my correspondence, he said no , I went and created webform and sent it my self, then my fellow october time line started receiving PPR February, I told him to help me send a message enquiry the status of my application, he still refused see wahala, I went behind him and sent a message directly to Nairobi and my brethrens he called me next week telling me my PPR has dropped , I just looked up to God and just said thank you , an imperfect application God perfected, guys to show you the power of God , here is the twist ,when my gcms note came in, the case analyst stated I was going for a post graduate diploma ,I am not very religious but this life is spiritual , this is for applicants waiting for PPR , do the best you can and commit it to God, I took responsibility and God helped me, one of the biggest burdens we would always have is making decisions, let us be motivated by faith and not fear, this page has been such a blessing to a lot of us and this is the little way of paying it forward ,to improve the overall knowledge and to guide people in various scenarios, thanks to just mellow , frankrobbbn, lekiboboe and everyone who keeps enriching this group, we probably would have no idea how this group protects us from those hustlers, the wait is hard but you have to stay positive always and keep your faith intact, now for people who have gotten PPR , me in the landing gist next story , this is getting too long

If by now you don't get the point and see all of this as arguments then that's your business, a lot of persons booked their flight early on because of the information disposed to them on the website then suddenly people tried to board and were denied boarding, now people have scheduled flight, if they have to reschedule, it's going to cost them some resources and there is no policy backing what the airline is doing which is clear to everyone, someone was denied boarding from an airline but he/she was able to proceed using the US route and she was even an old student with a student permit, so this problem is only for those who have booked their flight thinking should dey reschedule or ask questions and maybe get rescheduled for free like our brother was lucky, but if you haven't booked your flight, it's safer to wait for one month as told to us by recent travelers. The problem is for those who booked early and are told not to board without no clear policy backing it ,peace

Ok the problem is that this information is not from any ircc website ,it's from North Eastern university website, arrival guidelines should be gotten from them not from a third party , that's where the problem is, according to ircc travel website engers can only be denied boarding mainly due to covid19 related reasons, on matters on eligibility, it can only decided by a border officers upon arrival, I understand people have been stopped from boarding but ircc can't put a policy online and enforce a different one offline , thanks for the information though, we would keep monitoring the situation

Exactly, prior to covid19, one or two months was fine, now that we have to put in three weeks quarantine plan into consideration, we would need more time to stabilize in our new environment, attend international sessions , orientations and sort out accommodation before class resumes, such an information that influences travel plans shouldn't be an informal practice , we r not just traveling to Abuja or port Harcourt, I just hope this people are not blocked to reason , a policy can't just be changed and we are expected to find out at the airport, not everyone are on nairaland, I feel the pain for those who were sent back,wasted covid test, hotel quarantine and air bnb fee not to talk of the psychological stress IRCC really needs to do better on giving clarity on their arrival guidelines, we would keep monitoring the situation........

People would make their decision as they feel, what do you mean by fake encouragement, nairaland is a platform where people come to see opinions and analyse it for themselves, what works for A might not work for B, you are even lucky to be asked why you were coming early , it lies on you to express yourself on your need , another person with a convincing need might have utilised that opportunity

I don't think those documents are sent to IRCC officials ,I think they are sent to special airline officials because only border officers are empowered by law to make that decision of entry into a country, airline and engers get their information from IRCC, there are no special informations for airline to work with , whatever they work with is inline with ircc current guidelines that's why PR applicants don't need to be told by their airlines that they can now travel from July 5th as long as they have valid copr, let's keep monitoring the case

Be calming down small. Those saying they were denied boarding didn't say they didn't have enrolment confirmation. Once you have paid your fees you can easily access and print enrolment confirmation from the school portal. The airline argument is that its too early to travel. I my case I have everything. I argued. They snap and send all documents to their rep in Egypt who gave the final decision. We were like 3 that day and all with enrolment confirmation. I used my children AL that was expiring and the reply from the man up there was that they can't travel since parent isn't boarding, So much have changed.

Lol madame, there have been some people on this platform who tried boarding without it ,not all schools provide enrollment letter that easy , the only rational I can have on your case was that it was more than 2 months, 2 months and less should be fine considering the whole quarantine plan and preparing for classes such as getting accommodation, attending international sessions and orientations, the platform is meant for people to look at arguments being made and make informed decision, its sad the Egypt rep has assumed the work of border officers, let's see how it goes from July 5th , I can't even find the traveling too early clause on ircc page any longer

Exactly , people cases are relative , a lot of persons here have been denied boarding due to the lack of that documents, they are not giving us the full story , what I strongly know if you have documents, it's not personal, they just have to show you the four weeks policy and that's it, lol the guidelines is there for everyone to see, we all know from July 5th , vaccinated travelers can travel without the whole hotel quarantine subject to the approval of the BSO, only the airline that is forthcoming would student be travelling, all these inefficiencies can't be condoned , people travelled 2 months to resumption for may class , online students travelled months before fall class and they had no problems, everybody case is relative..

Sadly, it doesn't work this way in Nigeria airports. Those airlines staffs work as if they are Canadian border officers . I was going for my semester 3. I have evidence of the completed semesters and enrolment confirmation for semester 3 starting in September but was refused boarding by Egyptair. They held it was too early to travel for September resumption. Me weh be old student already o. That's how I was turned down. I told them my visa was approved since November 2020 and was not in a hurry to japa but for where. I argued with them to take me there to face the border officer myself and take responsibility if returned by the border officer. Those airlines especially the ones operated by Africa countries won't board you. I explained my kids exemption letter were expiring and not certain about renewal and it was necessary to travel early to get enough time after quarantine to rent and find schools for them before resumption so I can balance their school runs and mine but for where. She categorically told me should wouldn't answer me again. Myself and other students were just treated like slaves in our own country. Hardest of it is the airline requesting fair difference and penalty payments to reschedule. Anyway we shall overcome all these ill treatment soon.
It is strongly advised to wait few weeks before resumption. Although I'm sure Airlines operated by Europe countries wouldn't go that far.

Ok we can analyse your case , when was this because you were just pretty bullied, she didn't show you anything to back her point and you could have requested to speak to a superior officer , all these stories are relational, the woman was just pretty insensitive and unreasonable. When and How far from resumption did this happen ?

For those who want to avoid the mandatory hotel stay and quarantine, Canada will be lifting these requirements for those who are fully vaccinated (two doses) by the approved vaccines in the country on July 5th, 2021.

Also, while you may have an Enrollment Letter for Fall 2021, please be aware that you may very well be refused at the airport if you seek to travel more than a month before the start date on your Enrollment Letter. While it isn't mentioned on their website (as far as I've seen), your program should start within a month or a month of your intended travel date or it will be deemed that you are arriving too early (possibly to root out what they deem unnecessary travel). This is something being enforced in the background by their staff who your documents.

That's not true, you can't be refused to board when you have enrolled , the airline wants to know if you are an active student that's why they are asking for enrollment, once you are enrolled in a program, it means you are already a student for that year but some schools won't enroll you until it's close to the programe while some schools enrolls you immediately you confirm your study permit, as far you are enrolled and you have a quarantine plan , it's left for the border officer to determine if you are arriving early or not and if you are early they would want to know if you have enough funds to take care of yourself without working, so far we haven't seen anyone who has been stopped from boarding while having their enrollment letter.......... , No where in the arrival guidelines said one month except they have their special website where they take instructions from..

I have a masters from and intend to apply for a PhD. But due to lack of some certain course prerequisites, my supervisor and the program cordinator adviced I apply for their masters which will be also be fully funded and then transfer to a PhD. Will I have issues with getting a visa for a second masters given that I intend to go with my wife and daughter? Also is it okay if I ask the graduate coordinator to provide me with a written letter stating that I lacked certain course requirements?

Another problem is I require a 3.7 to be successful. How is the last two years average calculated for a masters degree holder. Will it be a course by course evaluation or will be masters degree be evaluated as a whole.

The graduate school at University of Alberta is refusing to give information on GPA conversion until I apply.

Well that's simple, you need to show academic progression to be able to apply for a study permit and since you need to another masters to be able to proceed for your PHD , you would need a letter from you program coordinator to back up your story stating why the course is needed for your academic progression and also connecting it to your long term future goals and for the masters, the general programme is evaluated

If you have your enrollment letter, lol why r u now scared, u think they would deny an enrolled student from boarding, simply ask them to show you on the website where the policy is from, everything you need to prepare for travel is on Canada website, there are guidelines to follow

What airline was that, why couldn't he get a confirmation of enrollment from his school? Once your student permit is confirmed, you should be automatically enrolled in classes, international sessions would be coming up soon in Alberta as they are already in stage 3 of reopening, school policies differs I guess

Where did you get this information from, people are travelling but you must be enrolled ,the Canadian website didn't say it ought to be 4 weeks, rather you even need to leave like 3 weeks for quarantine Incase you get infected during transit , what time do you even now have to settle before school resumption? Now let me inform you, the total days for quarantine is 14 days, you do 3 days at the designated hotel, on day 10 you would do a test with the test kit given to you at the airport, day 14 if no symptoms, you are free to go, the total days required for quarantine I 14 days not 17 days, do your proper research, people have been travelling bro, no one used 17 days for quarantine

That would be 4 hours per day, regular working hours is 40 hours per week which is equivalent to 8hours per day , it depends on the kind of job you get but it shouldn't exceed 20 hours per week .

For your Permanent Residence Application, No, not all employers are elligble to give you the one year experience required for your PR Application, that's the mistake some students make, they finish their studies and get a job and work for one year only for them to know that they can't apply for PR with that work experience, it's important you enquire from the organization if the experience you get would enable you apply for your PR, you can use your coop experience to get better jobs after studies but u can't use it to apply for PR.
