Nigerian Army Aviation gets funding, reveals its aerial assetsThese platforms are crucial for the Army's surveillance, reconnaissance, and patrol operations, providing a significant boost to the nation's defence capabilities.
The Nigerian Army has taken a significant step in bolstering its military capabilities with the establishment of its own aviation corps. This move has been further strengthened by the announcement of a $3.2 million investment for the construction of the first Army aviation hangar at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Niger State.
Brigadier General Musa Alkali, the Coordinator of Nigerian Army Aviation, disclosed the development during a meeting with Governor Umar Bago of Niger. The funding for this project is set to be provided by the Pan-African Business Forum as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, marking a new era in the Nigerian Army’s operational readiness.
The new hangar is expected to house an impressive fleet of aerial assets, including 12 MD530 Cayuse Warrior series attack helicopters, 10 Bayrakter TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and 8 Magnus light attack aircraft. These platforms are crucial for the Army’s surveillance, reconnaissance, and patrol operations, providing a significant boost to the nation’s defense capabilities. https://www.military.africa/2024/03/nigerian-army-aviation-gets-funding-reveals-its-aerial-assets/

My brother is not only you, I bought the same 50,000mah power bank something last two months, followed up their instructions and charge it with NEPA light to 100% before using, to my greatest disappointment drain more faster, it doesn't charge my gradient upto 3 times before entering 0%. So annoying, have to send it back to them. Just receiving a call from them after two months of my complain that they are now with my power bank that their engineer will look into it. I believe it will still take them another one month to replace it back.
I have this same issue with mine 50k mAH. it drains faster this days.

Lurker4Long: Next Ugandan rotation ready for DR Congo deployment
Ahead of moving into eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a Uganda People’ Defence Force (UPDF) contingent was told they would be on the ground to help “a country in turmoil”.
Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga told a flagging-off ceremony the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF), of which Uganda is part, will not be attacking belligerents. Instead the force will ensure decisions taken at EAC Heads of State meetings will be implemented. This is in line with its peacekeeping mission mandate.
The regional force can go to a strength of 12 000 troops. At present soldiers, other military personnel and equipment from Kenya, Burundi, Uganda and South Sudan comprise the EACRF.
UPDF contingent commander Colonel Michael Walaka Hyeroba said he is leading ambassadors of peace and tranquillity to help another African country in turmoil and assured those at the send-off troops under his command are fully prepared to execute the mission. “We are prepared, we have the training, we have gained the cohesion required and are ready for the task assigned by our country and the region.”
Looking back on UPDF involvement in Africa land force commander Muhanga, speaking on behalf of UPDG Chief General Wilson Mbadi, said: “Having pacified the country [Uganda], UPDF now exports peace to other countries. We were in Liberia at one time, we are in Somalia, have been to South Sudan and Central African Republic (CAR). We are also in the eastern DRC fighting the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists doing well and fulfilling our objectives”.

Faithful007:
Comparing fighter jets based on names alone is like comparing a Toyota Camry to an Accord without referencing the model and year.
Do you see the pic below? Thats is an F16 Viper. Deliveries only started around 2018. While that SU-30 might handle the C/D models in proliferation, It will not stand a chance against this sexy motherfucker.
How you guys compare two aircraft ilof different origins sometimes confuses me. How do you compare the F-16 with the Su-30.
They are not in the same class, neither are they employed in the same manner.
The F-16 which is a good aircraft on its own right is like the 'Nokia torch' of the air force world.
It is solid, dependable, but not particularly innovative or superb.
It is usually the baseline of which other jets are measured with.
Tye airframe of a typical F-16 has more or less exceeded the ability to evolve and newer upgrades are just piling weights on the airframe.
You could have compared the F-16 with later models of the MiG-29s and not the Su-30.
The Su-30 on the other hand is a true air superiority aircraft designed from the onset to find and kill enemies either through BVR or WVR.
A modern F-16 doesn't offer any advantages over a similar modern Su-30 in BVR. If both are equipped with AESA, and other better equipment.
But on the other hand, if the fight gets to WVR, the F-16 stands no chance even with its inherent negative stability.
Even with all this, warfare is based on several factors including presence of assets, pilots skills, aircraft serviceability state etc
Nevertheless, the West don't fight like the East.

The majority of the South African Navy’s primary combat vessels are not operational, with the frigate SAS Mendi’s seaworthiness prioritised for Armed Forces Day and Exercise Mosi II.

Do you realize that Nigeria doesn't have any frigate?
Like how can you mock someone for having something you yourself don't have.
That particular frigate have more anti-ship missiles than the rest of West Africa combined.
Please if you don't have much to contribute don't bring this up. You do this every once in a year. We're tired of it. It was fun before but now it is borderline ridiculous.

Russia has mets it Waterloo in Ukraine.I was ing them as counterbalance to US overbearing dominance but they are done.China is our only hope now for multilateral world order otherwise today USA sits unchallenged as only superpower. They are finishing Russia without lifting a finger... Russia has no answer to their HIMARS and that is just a snippet of us industrial military complex.Russia have exposed themselves to ridicule and defeat is certainly coming.USSR was beaten in Afghanistan by US backed muhajideen and it subsequently collapsed.Ukraine is similar ..they have Russia on retreat and what remain is kicking their arse.Ukraine Comedian is now in the USA for more HIMARS and ammunition..Putin only option is nuclear..which if they are stupid to pull...give NATO the excuse to finish them style..then for next 200yrs they will be allowed to only own bows and arrows
Russia's Buk M3 aka Viking and Pantsir S1 air defence systems routenly shoot down HIMARS rockets mid-air.
The battlefield advantages of the HIMARS have been blunted months back.
One thing I'll say is don't underestimate Russia. Yes they've blundered throughout the war, but this is the first 21st century hyper-conventional near-peer warfare. Every country is still learning from it.
Russia may open another front when the Winter is over. This will put severe pressure on Ukraine. , Belarus is yet to enter the fray. They may do so next year.
This is a long war, lessons will be learnt by both sides and the world in general. Time is on Russia's side.

Actually the Nigerian Navy has no frigates for now. The NNS Aradu is grounded but it refers to the Hamilton class cutters and P18N Corvettes as Frigates because of their big size hence the reason why they have pennant numbers like F90, F91, F92 and F93.
There is a difference between LSTs, LHDs and Amphibious assault ships
LSTs are amphibious landing ships that can carry at most a Max. of 300 troops and 30+ vehicles and they can also carry 1 helicopter and a drone depending on the size of the landing helipad and the hangar. They also possess a front bow ramp and they are lightly armed with 12.7mm guns or 30mm RCWS for close quarter combat. They can weigh 1000 tons or more Examples are Damen LST 100, LST 120
LHDs are bigger amphibious vessels that can carry up to 3,4,5... to 20 or more helicopters and they can carry a Max of 800+ troops. They don't possess a front bow ramp, instead it's from the back and they can be armed with short range SAM and CIWS guns for self defense. They can weigh 30,000 tons or more but in Algeria's case, their San Giorgio LHD weighs 8,000 tons. Examples are China's Type 75 LHD, 's Mistral class LHD.
Then Amphibious Assault ships or Landing Platform Docks are ships bigger than LSTs but smaller than LHDs. They can carry a Max of 700+ troops and they are armed with 76mm naval guns, 40mm guns and 12.7mm guns. Their 76mm guns or 40mm can be used for naval fire . They can weigh from 12,000 tons to 20,000 tons and also don't possess front bow ramps. It is also from the back for them. Examples are the US San Antonio LPDs, China's Type 71 LPD
For better understanding;
Pic 1-LST
Pic 2-LHD
Pic 3- LPD or AAS
The Nigerian Navy does not refer to the Hamilton and P18N as frigates.
The 'F' designation is because they are fighting ships. The Navy calls them OPVs (P18N) and long-range OPVs (Hamilton)

MNJTF troops arrest 40 terrorists logistic suppliers
The MNJTF said it has arrested about 40 logistics suppliers of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) in a clam on terrorist activities in the Lake Chad region. The Intelligence Led Operation which was conducted by the troops of Sector 3 Monguno on 11 October 2022, led to the arrest suspects and also led to the discovery of sixty four (64) bags of beans, two (2) bags of maize, and other large quantities of food items.
The items would later be Conveyed to the terrorists' enclaves of the Lake Chad Tumbus.
Follow on operations led to the capture of another 300 bags of beans and 100 bags of corn which were destroyed in-situ by the troops.
Why destroy all this foodstuffs?
They should have given it to the locals.

Are the Karaduwa and Andoni more of gunboats or SDBs?
Karaduwa and Andoni are SDBs.
Gunboats are usually armed with heavy naval guns for anti-ship and land attack. Their opposite are missile boats which are armed with mainly missiles.

Not to be that guy but in the name of peace lets at least try to get the nomenclature correct. That's a Harbour Security Vessel which is no more a gunboat than an RDV is an MBT! Those are gunboats.
Very correct!!
I believe we in Nigeria calls them gunboats. They are actually harbor security boats or small patrol boats.
Anything vessel that can be armed is called a gunboat in Nigeria.
Here is a picture of a typical Russian gunboat

In fact let's do it quickly before Nairaland armchair engineers tell us why it can't be done.
The wings are too high. It'll need a really steep dive to place the rounds on target during bomb run.
Biafran engineers did something similar on the Bush Baby aircraft (Malmö Flygindustri MFI-9 Junior) during the Nigerian Civil War.
Most people are not aware that the Biafran bush baby aircraft is the grandfather of the current PAK Super Mushshak trainer.
Our Super Mushshak trainer has a warrior ancestry.
