TroubleMaker47: Just discovered sarcasm have you, mate? It’s a useful tool, but tread carefully – you’ve got to have the wit to back it up, or it becomes labored, unamusing, dull, ill-informed, and you end up looking a pillock. because I don't see how this post relate to the Yorubas 3 Likes |

Nigeria, like a big elephant is a case of what you see depending on what side you choose to sit. While the Igbos sees may 30th as a day of injustice to them, the Arewas sees January 15th as there own day of injustice. While the Yorubas sees june12 as a great injustice to them, you could even make a case of November 10th for the ogonis and November 20th for the Ijaws. In all these scenarios, one thing is clear. We all see things through our tribal eyes not the Nigerian eyes or else why should only the Igbos see may30th as a cruel day when infact all Nigerians should rise up and mark the day as a day of grave mistake not only to the Igbos but for Nigeria as a whole if not for anything at least for the sake of preventing such incident from ever happening again. January 15th on the other hand is quiet significant not just because most of the murder victims where Huasa-Funalis but because this was the first time that the military will interfere in politics in Nigeria which sadly set the precedent of corruption and skewed federal system we have till date. So why should we as a nation not see this day as a symbolic day so that we can learn from our mistakes sadly every other tribes but the Arewas have chosen not to even it. The most appalling of all our hypocritical ways as a nation is the way and manner in which Nigerians of other ethnic groups have left the remembrance of this day to the Yorubas simply because MKO was a Yoruba man. What a shame no other tribe sees this day for what it really is,June 12 no doubt represents our greatest electoral failure as a nation, this was the first and only free and fair election devoid of any tribal or religious sentiments in Nigeria till date. On this day Nigerians from all walks of life unanimously voted for MKO. So where did we get it wrong I mean where June 12 become a symbolic day for only the Yorubas?when we all should have seen this day as a day that should never repeat it self in our nation again. From the way I see it we are all victims of each others past misdeeds in other words we are all sinners than sinned against let us all see injustice as injustice irrespective of who's suffering it, like a Yoruba proverb which says when a child falls he looks ahead but when an elder falls he looks behind because he knows that what caused his downfall is not ahead but BEHIND. Happy June 12 to all Nigerians I hope we all can reflect on our past mistake and learn from them. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |

Chynx: You're either deficient in history or you're just been economical with the truth. Or else you should have known that the Yoruba nation has been clamoring for a true federalism since before independent, the only diff is that they have been going about it in a matured and sensible way not this unrealistic manner that you lots are going about. You just started a childish and very foolish call for separation simply because your egotistical leaders lost out in national politics. Nonsense!!! 1 Like |

evilyoruba:It's seems to me that it was a swahili man that taught you history, otherwise you should know better than to insinuate that Ojukwu fought on two fronts. For all we know he selfishly declared a state of Biafra because his ego could not let him accept Gowon as his boss. For this he sacrifice the lives of millions of his Igbo people and yet no one of his family got hurt in the way, then he shamelessly ran of to ivory coast. As for Azikwe he knew that Ojukwu was fighting a selfish and egotistical battle hence his decision to declare for Nigeria. I wonder when all Igbo youth will sit down and research history rather than this backward rhetoric of false stories 22 Likes |

i have tried to stay off this rivalry between the yorubas and the benins because to me its useless and uncalled for, however i'm forced to set the records straight because it is said that when a lie continues to be told over and over again without either correcting the lie or revealing the truth such lies might start getting some credibility.now im not one who argues without cross checking the facts i had done an extensive research on the origins of this great tribes and i will be sharing my facts with you much more later fell free to cross check them after all there is a saying that everyone is entitled to there truths but everyone is not entitled to there own facts cos the facts are indisputable.let me stop the stories and start with the facts FACT NO 1; the notion that Oduduwa the progenitor of the Yoruba race left Benin to go and found Ile ife is not only laughable but crazy, although for lack of records the exact year of Ile ife origin could not be gotten but all available facts agreed that between 1200 and 1400 A.D Ile ife had already developed a functional and well developed society this claim is validated by the age of of all the Yoruba artifact that was taken from Ile ife.WHILE the Binin kingdom only came into being by 1440 as a matter of fact there is no known artifact of Binin origin that predate that of IFE. from this facts its obvious that Ile ife is older than Binin kingdom,so Oduduwa could not have come from binin.read and digest this i will be back with more fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 Likes 3 Shares |

I think its time to set the record straight, because i can see that history has been distorted largely due to the abolishment of history education in our various schools. Now to fully understand this we have to go back to the very beginning where the leader of the then eastern region Dr Nnamdi Azikwe who actually started his political career among the yorubas turned against the very tribe that made him politically and ganged up with the north when he ed the then premier of the north sir Tafawa Balewa by agreeing to there demand for a parliamentary system of government as against true federalism where every tribe and every region should maintain there distinct identity and to be able to control there resource which ever way they dimmed fit.this was what the west through chief Obafemi Awolowo wanted, but the greed for power made Azikwe and the igbos to reject the Yoruba's idea all because the north promised him the position of president but unknown to the Igbos or due to there desperation for power they forgot that in a parliamentary system of government the prime minister holds the power leaving the so called president with only ceremonial powers.i will stop here for now and allow all this gullible easterners to make there comments to judge for themselves because it was your leaders who first aligned with the north.i will come back with more facts

This igbos forget that trades and business involves two sides. The buyer and the seller in which case the buyer is the king. If this pride and ignorance of the igbos push them to a limit then they will understand what economy apathy is all about cos if you claim to own all the businesses in Nigeria my question is who are the buyers? I know you're aware that other tribes are the other side of the coin that makes your trades grow. And when the chips are down every other tribes can trust each other save the igbos even ghanians wouldn't pick an igbo man over a yoruba or an hausa man so guys learn from the mistakes of biafra and don't ever make the mistake of assuming that you can ever stand without other tribes or else you will be isolating yourselves economically, socially and politically in any case the igbos will pay the Biggest price
