Explorers:
In China, buildings and structures can be knocked down in the blink of an eye no matter how big they are using explosives.

But this bridge is situated amidst dozens of skyscrappers, using explosive can be dangerous because of the vibration.

The major over was demolished in 8 hours after a local government dispatched more than 100 excavators to work together on the site, reports said.

Demolition of the Over reportedly began at around 10pm and was completed by 5am the next morning.

CCTV reports that the roadway was removed because of its narrowness the upswing in car ownership in China has made it hard for bridges to accommodate enough traffic.

The over also needed to be demolished to make way for a new subway system.

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has explained why he did not go to neighboruing Nasarawa State to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

DAILY POST reports that Buhari was in Nasarawa on a working visit where he commissioned a couple of projects.

However, many critics were wondering why Ortom failed to welcome the president, who doubles as his party leader at the event but rather sent his deputy, Benson Abounu to represent him.

Ortom in a swift reaction said he could not leave his people who were being killed by the marauding herdsmen to welcome the president, hence his reason to send his deputy to represent him.

He said, “I was invited by my colleague from Nasarawa state over the visit of the President. As a mark of honour and respect for his office and that of the president, I have sent my deputy to represent me because I cannot leave the state when my people are being killed.”

Former military President Ibrahim Babangida has spoken on the controversy around the statement he issued about the 2019 elections. In the statement well-circulated in the media on Sunday, the retired military ruler, better known as IBB, asked Nigerians to have patience with President Muhammadu Buhari till his tenure ends in 2019.

He also harped on the need to have a new breed of leaders.

But shortly after that statement signed on his behalf by Kassim Afegbua, his spokesman, was made public, a counter-statement was released.

The new statement denied some of the critical issues raised in the previous one, saying IBB had “unfettered channel of communication with the highest authorities”.

But in a chat with THISDAY, the elder statesman said: “original statement still stands”.
The newspaper said when Babangida got informed that a counter-statement had been issued, he instructed Afegbua to reach out to media houses reaffirming the validity of the first statement.

Babangida reportedly said the second statement was issued by friends and had nothing to do with him.

However, the ex-president was said to have expressed dissatisfaction with the way the statement he issued was treated.

Nigerians reacted to the controversy in different ways.

Babangida released the statement less than two weeks after former President Olusegun Obasanjo wrote a letter to Buhari asking him not to contest in 2019.
