This is a town that isn't planned o. Imagine what it would look like if a plan of this town was made as late as 1960 and successive govts enforce it as much as possible.

Planning? Orlu urban roads criss cross Orlu town like the urban roads of Aba.

In a broadcast, former governor Rochas Okorocha boasted that Orlu will never have the type of traffic gridlock of Owerri- due to the way Orlu urban roads are laid.

Orlu urban planning was done during the early 1970s by a particular Divisional officer or Local govt chairman who opened the numerous urban roads in Orlu municipal LGA.
People have built and live by those roads but no government re to asphalt the roads.

“AN INCONVENIENT AMALAGAMATION” WHICH HAS REMAINED DIVIDED.

Wow. Now that people in power are condemning the 1914 Amalgamation, it’s like One Nigeria is coming to an end.

Arewa 12 sharia states started the process of division of Nigeria.

Orlu is a village. Not everything you calm urban.

First of all let owerri develop to a maximum level then others can be looked at.

Even Owerri has deteriorated and uzodimma has so much to spend to fix it back.

E no go better for you people in Imo state. You fight against nature. Orlu and Owerri were nearly on the same level of urban development in 1976 - Owerri slightly ahead.
In Europe and America, a settlement the size and population of Orlu is an undisputed urban centre.

Retrogressive people like you in Imo state who apparently have never lived beyond Owerri zone, take pride in having Owerri as the only modern urban centre in Imo state. You get from some political leaders in Orlu senatorial district. These political leaders from Orlu zone you get from see one or two old politicians in Orlu urban LGA as enemies; therefore they foolishly see the whole Orlu urban LGA as enemy territory, deny modern development to Orlu, instead develop Owerri area.
When they leave office, their hometowns in Orlu zone remain rural or even deteriorate.
The man who started the Iberiberism/Ohashieremism talk toward the end of his 8 years tenure - too late then.

I think almost everywhere in the country looks shitty.. few exceptions, perhaps.

Posters of Owerri bad roads online don’t even care to look beyond Owerri in Imo state. They want Owerri to be like London overnight while the next towns in Imo state continue to descend to 18th century standard. Their successive governors of the state also dance to their music.

Logo fine but country Ugly, so what's then the need to celebrate? They should invite Lord Lugard's family to celebrate with them.

But he is celebrating Lord Lugards merging of north and south of the British protectorates then.

The merger holds southern Nigeria down but upgrades north.

He has cause to celebrate.

Rochas and his china projects.

This school was better off then. We use to train here every Saturday morning before Rochas came with his Iberiberism.

Iberiberibesim of Rochas?

Rochas as governor of 8 years built everything he considered as development in Owerri as he believed he was fighting his enemies in Orlu, believed that those enemies were Orlu.

He relegated Orlu to rural areas status.

Today, both Ogboko and Orlu are like shitholes, while Owerri laments any small pothole on Rochas Boulevards in Owerri.

It’s like Rochas acts are replaying in the present istration. Not confirmed yet. Govs from Orlu zone never understand that urban development expands from urban areas to rural areas, never the other way round.

Orlu road is one of the most popular areas in Owerri, Imo State capital. You would expect that such an area will have the best of schools but what you are about to read will shock you. This has also been like this before the COVID-19 lock down, though its a bit worse now. So don’t think it got to this level because it was abandoned during the lock down. This is a disaster waiting to happen.

As schools gradually resume after the COVID-19 lock down, pupils and teachers in Orlu Road Primary School, Imo State, Nigeria, are in serious danger of witnessing a health hazard or environmental disaster.

This school has actually been this terrible even before the COVID-19 lock down began months back. The buildings are obviously weak and the environment is a health disaster to the children in this school. Primary six pupils are already preparing for their common entrance examination though the state government has not yet announced resumption date for schools in the state, as at the time of filing this report.

This message is coming early enough to avert any coming disaster. We gathered that pupils of the school have already been told to start cleaning the classrooms. Can you imagine that? Teachers are also cutting the grasses by themselves. This is pathetic for primary education in Nigeria, especially in Imo State.

https://massmediang.com/death-trap-see-orlu-road-primary-school-owerri-video-photos/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNP7ZsXWum0

Owerri Road Primary Schools in Orlu have never received asphalt since 2007, whereas this Orlu Road Primary School Owerri must have been asphalted for more than 3 times since 2007.

Orlu roads never cross any body’s mind because governors from Imo state have been bamboozled to believe that Imo state is Owerri - they act as Imo state is Owerri.

Umuahia was literally a backwater until Dr. M. I. Okpara, then premier of eastern region, flooded Umuahia with industries. The fact that few industries were cited in Umuahia does not indicated Umuahia was more urbanized than Owerri. Owerri as provincial headquarter saw a more measured urbanization than Umuahia.
I quote you:

“..flooded Umuahia with industries.”
“...few industries cited in Umuahia..”

Are you sure you are mentally sound or you are running amok, as you strive to call every town, except Owerri, a backwater?
If people of Owerri are industrious, Owerri should have developed beyond Enugu considering the large number of institutions that induce modern development concentrated in Owerri.
In 40 years, capital development budgets of Imo state had gone to provide for Owerri, but no show.. in Owerri today, except hotels.

Your want is inconsequential as a canteen rat. Speak on issue within the level of your historical recollection. Owerri was a province and provincial headquarter when Umuahia was village.

What has Owerri being provincial headquarters of wherever got to do with level of urbanization of Owerri when Imo state was created; and Umuahia more developed and more urbanized than Owerri then?

No argument that Umuahia was more developed with industries and more urbanized than Owerri in 1976 when old Imo state that included Umuahia was created.

Even till today, Owerri has no industry of repute - only hotels that useless young university students.

After creation of old Imo state with Owerri, not Umuahia as capital, Owerri got more urbanized than Umuahia because of all universities and polytechnics in Imo state that got located in Owerri through primitive greed of Owerri people who lobbied for them and never gave any consideration for what can induce modern development in Orlu and in other areas of Imo state.

What industries have pea-brained folks like you from Owerri established in Owerri to induce modern development in Owerri, except chasing for and covet government development institutions for Owerri?

Since returning to democracy the ibibios have voted the exact same way as igbos

The only issue is that unlike igbos were for Biafra is currently overwhelming, in Ibibio and Efik today, it's 50/50....that is the problem. Don't go lying to your self that Ibibio will you against igbos, they won't. Even the ibibios here will tell you

It’s now who is able to trace his/her ancestry to Jewish, as well as who the Jews who returned to Israel from 1948, are willing to accept as a Jew.

If Nigeria’s government believes that people who enter Nigeria shall pay for COVID-19 Tests on them, the government is not serious.

This is another way to increase corruption in the system.
It’s either the government provides and funds special testing Centres in every state, or forget about test after entry.

That follow-up tests after 7 days of arriving in Nigeria must become an extortion system for the Labs and test enforcers.
The extortionists shall visit returnees homes and even send other extortion agents.
Government needs to review that aspect considering that many lives were lost on the hands of corrupt and overzealous enforcers of COVID-19 regulations.

Nigeria rotates its presidency between north and south due to the skewed political structure of 36 states and Abuja, with 19 states and Abuja in the north.
No Yoruba or Igbo can win presidential election unless north agrees to the Yoruba or Igbo person to win.

It’s not democracy in Nigeria.

It’s usually a President emerging after political gangs have pointed to one candidate who must win.

I won't say never.

But no one is in a haste to vote Igbo.

Their actions since 2015 shows how much deep-seated hatred and intolerance they have for other tribes and religions.

One would have understood if it was just a section of their people, but what was most surprising was not even the high and venerated chose to call to order those that chose the paths of division and rancour.

I said on another thread that no one would vote Igbo come 2023 and voila, little by little we are seeing the signs.

What they have done is sacrilegious and even if forgivable, they must serve their punishment.

Only when crude oil dries up in the Niger Delta, that’s when you will be in a haste to vote Igbo as president of Nigeria.

In 1998, Yoruba was at the verge of declaring Oduduwa Republic if Yoruba was not made President of Nigeria.

That was shortly after Bola Tinubu made the famous declaration that he did not believe in one Nigeria.

You have said it all. The igbos don’t mean well for themselves

Even the present crop of governors distrust themselves.

The Anambra State Governor is a case in point >>>>

Governor Willie Obiano’s paranoid attitude and his recent display of suspicious behavior has become very worrisome to Anambrarians
in recent times. The governor recently moved out of the Government House, claiming that the place was infested by evil spirits and that his enemies had buried charms inside the grounds. He moved to Onitsha from where he now operates. Shortly afterwards, his wife, Ebelechukwu Obiano invited the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke to their hideout in Onitsha where she accused him of planning to kill her husband the Governor, and literally stripped off her clothes to fight him, all this in the presence of the Governor Willie Obiano. The Governor himself was later to inform some traditional rulers that his deputy was plotting to take his life. The Governor has become increasingly isolated with his wife now taking over the functions of running the state.

Recently on The day the Enugu Airport was commissioned, something strange happened.
As the Governors of the South-East and other stakeholders waited at the airport, and having been informed of delay, the host, Gov. Ugwuanyi the hard-working, humane and gentle Governor of Enugu decided, out of courtesy, to take the stakeholder to the Lodge for morning tea.

Inside the Lodge, only Obiano decided to stay inside his vehicle without coming down. Three people were sent to call him, but he declined, saying he was comfortable in his vehicles. Even when he was informed that the stakeholders and fellow governors who had arrived earlier wanted to take the time and discuss issues for the good of Igbos, he still declined. Senator Victor Umeh, the former National Chairman of Obiano’s Party APGA was sent to ask him to come up and his colleague south Eastern Governors but he still refused.

Obiano departed shortly after he left the lodge for the Airport for the commissioning , even before the official tape cutting ceremony because of his paranoia which is affecting the smooth running of his istration in recent times.

Obiano later told some people that he would never enter inside Enugu Lodge as the people that revealed the plan to kill him at Amawbia Lodge also revealed that Enugu Governor would poison him if he was not careful.

A northern governor is fingered by another northerner to be head of Boko Haram.

Commot with your cock and bull stories about Willie Obiano.
