The BA article says demand for first and Business class is high in Nigeria. Why shouldn't they charge higher for these two classes? But if economy fare is on the higher side, there must be reasons for this and that is what BA needs to explain to the powers that be. First you just cant compare Airlines routes and fares like you do for roads. Many factors determine the fare applicable not only distance. Note that,Pax airlines esp BA/VS carry cargo and they try to maximise on that per route to reap profits. My guess is,if they have sufficient cargo out of Nigeria then the fares may reduce drastically, but there's no way they are going to make any revenue if they fly half empty in economy and full in biz and first class while applying low fares across all classes. Its a loss. It therefore doesn't make sense to compare ghana with nigeria cz of other factors. |

![]() http://www.nation.co.ke/business/news/Kenya+strikes+oil+in+Turkana/-/1006/1373886/-/1537alm/-/index.html President Kibaki on Monday announced the discovery of oil in Turkana county, located in the country's arid north-western region. The President said successful drilling of the oil is still years away. Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi added a sweetener to the "important announcement", explaining that Kenya's oil deposits could be bigger than Uganda's. "This morning, I have been informed by the Minister for Energy that our country has made a major breakthrough in oil exploration. This weekend, Tullow Oil, which has been prospecting for oil in block 10 BB in Turkana County, discovered oil in Ngamia-1 well, at a depth of between 846 and 1041 meters. They established over 20 meters of what is technically referred to as OIL-PAY. To establish commercial viability of this oil, they have to drill multiple wells," said President Kibaki. President Kibaki broke news of the discovery during the announcement of the evaluation results of the performance of public agencies for the financial year 2010 / 2011. Kenya now s regional neighbours Uganda and Tanzania in the list of potential oil producing countries. Tullow Oil released a press statement stating the oil in Turkana bore similarities with that discovered in Uganda. "The well, located in the Turkana County of Kenya Block 10BB, was drilled to an intermediate depth of 1,041 metres and has been successfully logged and sampled. Moveable oil with an API greater than 30 degrees has been recovered to surface. This oil has similar properties to the light waxy crude discovered in Uganda. Waiting to see the scramble. |

13th March Mr Anthony Katamba, the MTN general manager for Corporate Services, while clarifying on the Daily Monitor story that yesterday erroneously quoted Shs19billion instead of Shs19 million—the amount that the telecom giant has allowed to pay URA. Note: There's a rift between URA(Uganda Revenue Authority) and the MTN. Telecommunications giant MTN Uganda insists it will not pay the Shs136 billion tax liability, including the Shs19million penalty slapped on them by Uganda Revenue Authority in tax arrears allegedly incurred between 2003 and 2007. MTN officials said their reconciliation shows that the telecom giant only owes URA Shs19 million in tax arrears, which they cleared when the tax body issued a grace period in 2007. 12th March MTN posts 6.3% growth.MTN Uganda increased its subscriber base to 7.6 million during the year.Impressive growth rates were also witnessed in the data segment, where the company has shifted focus as voice revenues continue to dip. And now 15th March Ugandan police are currently investigating their first case of mobile money fraud. The scam included at least two companies police said. Investigations are looking into how transactions were made, including loopholes which could have allowed criminals to use new services to steal from s and telecom operators. A lot happening in this company. |

![]() Ian Khama, the Botswana president who celebrated his 59th birthday last month, has seemingly given up the search for a partner, or perhaps, Botswana women are just not towering or slim enough for him. * Ian Khama of Botswana loves life on the single lane, and says he would be lost on how to divide his time between a wife and the nation. * He says he does not understand what all the hullaballo over his marital status is all about. Marriage ties you down, it takes you away from your people. * If you want to be a good, totally dedicated leader, you can’t afford to give room to any distractions But, just why does the man dread marriage? “I hear people who are married say that they enjoy the institution of marriage,” he says. “They like to have a partner that they can share their life with. And I hear others — who, I may say, are in the majority — express great difficulties and challenges in being married.” But for him, he says, the problem is that “I don’t like to get into something that I don’t have control over. When I say control, I mean that I can probably influence an outcome”. Khama, who has been at the helm of the Southern African country since April 2008, seemingly fears if he were to settle down with a woman, the balance of priorities could easily go off course. nterestingly, his close ally, South African president Jacob Zuma, effortlessly juggles his busy schedule alongside four wives and countless children. In fact, Khama is the only bachelor head of state in the region, and that situation does not seem like it will change any time soon after his recent remarks that he wants to devote all his time to his work and feels marriage would “intrude” into his life. The former military commander says not even presidents are spared by the responsibilities and conjugal glitches associated with marriage. “When I think of the pressures of work here, and the stress and everything that comes with it... if you are having problems at home with all that additional stress, something is going to snap,” says the reticent leader. |

It's easy for a woman to put up a fake act so as to speed up the status process. Women know how to play their cards. As soon as she understands her man's psychology she starts conforming to satisfy his ego and wants. My advice to any man, what you have as a girlfriend is what you will have as a wife only in greater measure. So if you notice any sudden change aimed at impressing you know that it's all acting. Just be yourself even if you are nasty. |
