APC ers disenfranchised in Dogara's constituency--APC

By Najib Sani, Bauchi

Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has reacted to the outcome of the National Assembly election held in Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local governments federal constituency of the state on Saturday which declared the Speaker house of representatives Yakubu Dogara of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) winner.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the state APC chairman Uba Ahmed Nana alleged that the election was allegedly marred by many irregularities such as disenfranchisement of All Progressive Congress (APC) at polling units in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa local governments by suspected PDP thugs.

He alleged that in most of the polling units where APC candidate was suspected to have highest votes, the speaker's ers harassed and prevented people from voting.

Aside that, Abubakar accused the PDP of attacking APC agents at polling units in many places in the two local government areas with a view to forcing to compromise and alter results.

" PDP is scared of humiliating defeat by our candidate Honourable Kantana and they know that if that happened, the speaker Dogara would be embarrassed. So they engaged thugs to harrass and prevent voters believed to be in of the APC candidate from casting their votes".

" The truth is that the constituents are fed up with Dogara's domination over the years without commensurate dividends of democracy. So the speaker's ers resorted to all forms of electoral malpractices to make sure he is retained as representative of Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro constituency". He alleged.

Our correspondent reports that according to the results announced at the collation center in Zwall, Dogara won the election with 73, 000 votes as against the APC candidate Dalhatu Kantana who polled 50, 000 votes.

Election: Soldiers harass Journalists in Bauchi

It was nightmare for some journalists covering the Presidential and National Assembly election taking place today in Bauchi as armed soldiers along the Bauchi - Tafawa Balewa road harassed them in the course of carrying out their duties.

The nasty experience first started at Dass local government when a fierce looking officer, lieutenant Y Ahmed, stopped a correspondent chapel bus conveying journalists on election duty.

One of the journalists explained to him politely that they were journalists on election duty. This innocent introduction did not go well with the officer who barked 'park! park! as his subordinates ed the fray to querie the journalists.

"Are you more special than us? If you are on election duty so what? Park my friend. See my name. You want to see my name? Whoever you what to call, call,"

The reporters were taken aback by the sudden emotional outburst of the officer without any provocation.

What was amazing was that all the journalists were putting on the vests and p-caps givens by INEC to accredited journalists.

Since the officer kept ranting even subordinates brandished their guns, one of the journalists stated that if the Lieutenant would border to seek the identity of the people I'm the bus, he would discover that some are very senior and experienced journalists. This further infuriated became more livid, saying "because you are journalists you want us to come and bow down for you?, he retorted as he went about attending to some civilians inside J-4 bus that they had stopped.

It took the intervention of the Chairman of the Correspondent's Chapel, Mr Segun Awofadeji, who was leading the team, to calm the situation as after calmly explaining the mision as the Lieutenant became sober .

After few minutes of doing nothing, he eventually order the bus to proceed, but the damage is done as the journalists were unable to meet Speaker Yakubu Dogara cast his vote at his polling unit at the Gwaranga poling unit at 9: 45.

Leader of Tijjaniya Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi endorses Speaker Dogara

Prominent Islamic scholar and leader of the Darikatul Tijjaniya Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has urged the people of Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa federal constituency in Bauchi state to vote for the Speaker House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara in Saturday’s National Assembly elections.

Speaking in Bauchi when the Speaker paid him a visit at the his residence, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi called on the people of Bauchi state to reject politicians who use religion to divide them.

He said Hon Dogara’s track records of religious tolerance, peace building and worthy representation speak for themselves and he should be encouraged to do even more.

He noted that the Speaker has done remarkably well in bringing dividends of democracy to his constituency, Bauchi state and the north east region, hence the need for the people to reciprocate it by re-electing him on Saturday.

He told his followers that "it will be more prefarable to vote for a Christian than a member of the Izala Movement who does not see or regard of Tijjaniya sect as Muslims.”

He however said, “Both Darika and Izala are under the umbrella of Islam, our religion, but the person they are imposing on the people is the same man who is well known in insulting our renown scholars, elders, and yet he is calling himself a Muslim. It is like a direct insult to my father, mother, scholars, mentors and spiritual leaders and we'll never such person.

Sheik Dahiru Bauchi also offered special prayers for the success of the speaker in the election and also prayed for the continued peace and unity of the state and country at large.

In his remark, Hon Dogara expressed gratitude for the continued prayers of the cleric for the peace, unity, stability development of Nigeria.

Dogara decried that over 1.3 million children are out of school in Bauchi state, stating that the number will keep increasing unless the people elect a government that truly cares about uplifting the standard of education in the state.

He warned that if care is not taken, the number of out of school children may reach five million in the next few years which portends great danger to the society.

Earlier, an Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Balarabe Isah Ginzum informed Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi that speaker Dogara had built Islamiyya schools in all the the three local governments in his constituency among other interventions aimed at helping the Muslim community.

Bauchi Gov't threatens traditional rulers over election--PDP

By Najib Sani, Bauchi

Bauchi State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has raised an alarm that the state government had held a meeting with traditional rulers in the state where it allegedly threatened to sack any of them that fails to influence his subjects to vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates in Saturday's election.

Addressing newsmen today in Bauchi, the state publicity secretary of the party Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari alleged that the government issued an order to district heads in parts of the state to deliver their districts to the ruling party in the election adding that the matter triggered conflicts on Thursday in Burra, Ningi local government between a district head and the people.

He said PDP was concerned about how the government allegedly humiliates the royal fathers and undermines their authorities.

" Even today, some district heads were summoned from my local government where they were intimidated. Governor M. A should know that his tenure is limited. But traditional rulers will reign forever ". He said.

Zainabari also alleged that the government promised the traditional rulers it dethroned earlier that if they deliver their various places to the APC, they will be reinstated.

" The traditional rulers should know that we are also their sons and our governorship candidate Bala Mohammed have regard for them. He is worried about how they are being maltreated and will restore their lost glory if elected ". He assured.

The PDP publicity secretary also alleged that there was plot by the State government to rig the election in favour of the ruling party vowing that PDP was ready to checkmate plans for all electoral malpractices.

If I read this long shit let me be visiting toilet 20 times today.

Blah blah is all I hear..

Ok..its go like this
Our GROUP "Democracy must Stay" has uncovered....If you still having it in mind that Buhari will defeat Atiku? Let me tell you why the elections were postponed if you don't know.
- two newspaper vans carrying 3million thumb printed ballot papers in favor of APC were intercepted at Ikorodu area of Lagos going to Enugu, to make a stop over at Onitsha, Aba and finally Enugu.
- four newspaper vans intercepted at Akure heading to Benin conveying 4million thumb printed votes to make a stop over at Bayelsa, Rivers and Warri
- 17 bags of already thumb printed 3.3million votes in favour of APC going to Kano. All of this concerns were raised by OBJ, Atiku and GEJ which Inec verified and found the truth, Inc has no option even as Buhari insisted last night it should proceed, but US and EU observers intervened and inec made a postponement to further print new ballot papers and a different result sheet. So be wise... Buhari is going.

What do you think of this? Huh?

To be aware of danger before danger that's deep knowledge. To be aware of calamity before calamity that's deep knowledge. Ability to identify problems before it occurs that the real definition of someone having deep knowledge.

My parents are the real definition of how sometimes life should really look like. My father is an authoritarian, what he hates with ion is challenging his decisions, he believes so much in himself and my mother called him "Mr. Right" while we the children called him "Old School" because he usually show us "how the shown is done"

Father being the decision maker and also the implementer or perhaps the enforcer, he boxed the all family progress to himself and any positive progress been made he gave himself the credit for.

My mother is a house wife with full 45years experience if there is something she knows lot about is her husband. God gave her gift of "deep knowledge", for example; when bag of rice is about to finish she will hurry and inform my Dad about the need to gather money before certain month so as to get more rice. When the time comes my father will buy the rice and that will make him feel like it was his idea, that makes him pompous and always seeing himself as the real man.Due to my mother kind of concept we have never run out of rice in the house and she had never wanted to take the glory for herself.

I will liken my father to Inec chairman Mahmood Yakubu. Someone who believe so much in himself and not ready to take correction or advice from people. Mahmood Yakubu two days to election he said inec is 100% ready to conduct election while Nigerians are telling him no. It turned out to be right " no election on 16/02/2019. Nigerians asked him about need to reopen campaign doors he said 100% no. today inec is in meeting to change that 100% no. We asked about that apc senator from Niger who contract the material for the election, mahmood said he is 100%sure the apc senator can influence the out come of the election, ok, until after the election we will start to recant. My mother is the Nigerian people who had been telling my father(mahmood) about the calamity, all the dangers and castrophy that will happen if nothing is done about it. And when inec take heed to our advice and correct those errors it would hurry and take the glory for itself. For example after the meeting inec will say no problem all parties can go on with their campaign till 24hours to election when campaign will stop

The children are the political parties, they have never run out of gain from inec and Nigerian people.

Election shelving: Buhari considering Amina Zakari to replace INEC boss —CUPP
Published
February 16, 2019
Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Coalition of United Political Parties on Saturday alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari is planning to suspend the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu.

Ugochinyere claimed the President was planning to name a National Commissioner, Amina Zakari, as the Acting Chairman, citing her experience as the oldest and most experienced National Commissioner.

The coalition made the allegation in a statement made available to journalists by its spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere.

Ugochinyere said, “The President is planning to use the excuse of inability to hold election today (Saturday) as a reason for the imminent suspension.

“Feigning ignorance of the real reasons behind the shift, the President in his earlier statement today did not have just a word for the shameful and despicable actions of security forces and the Central Bank’s staff who, in obedience to Presidency’s directives, deliberately sabotaged the distribution of sensitive materials in selected states.

“We are aware that his hurried return to Abuja today from his home state, Katsina, is to sack the INEC boss. But this should be resisted by all well-meaning Nigerians and the international community.

“The sin of the INEC chairman is that he refused to conduct staggered elections that will allow the President and his men to manipulate the process.

“The Presidency had mounted pressure on the Commission to conduct election today in states where there were no issues and postpone only the states with materials distribution issues.

“The INEC chairman insisted on conducting the election at the same time, hence warranting the postponement of the entire election.

“We hereby warn President Buhari that the position of the INEC chairman is independent, hence, he cannot be removed from office via suspension.

“The 1999 Constitution in Section 157(1) states that the chairman and of the Commission may only be removed by the President acting on an address ed by two-thirds majority of the Senate that the person be removed for inability to discharge the functions of the office (whether arising from infirmity of mind or body or any other cause) or for misconduct

“We are aware that the government itself sabotaged INEC distribution of materials.

“We are warning that any attempt to sack or suspend the INEC chairman will only lead to electoral and constitutional crisis. The nation is still grappling with the illegality and unconstitutionality of the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Finally, APC submits names of candidates to INEC after Court of Appeal verdict on Zamfara primaries

- Zamfara APC said it has submitted the names of its candidates to INEC

- The development, according to APC, was necessary following Court of Appeal ruling on the party's primaries in the state

- Before the court verdict, APC was in turbulent time as INEC vowed not to include the party on its ballot papers prepared for election

The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), following the Sokoto Court of Appeal ruling on Wednesday, February 13, upholding the primary election in the state, said it has submitted names of its candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party said the move was expedient in order to beat the time in respect to the electoral umpire's general elections schedule, This Day reports.

Confirming the development in an interview with pressmen at the APC headquarters in Abuja, Zamfara governor, Abdulaziz Yari, said the move was in line with the ruling of the Sokoto appeal court.

The governor also disclosed that the appeal court ruled in line with the earlier judgement of the Zamfara high court mandating INEC to recognise the APC candidates from the state.

Yari said: “We in Zamfara state are happy at the development because we knew that we did the right thing and conducted our primaries."

In the same vein, the national legal adviser of APC, Babatunde Ogala, confirmed the development, adding that the copy of the court order has been submitted at the INEC office for official documentation and notification.

He added: “What we owe INEC is to officially notify it of the new ruling of the Appeal Court on the Zamfara state matter which is what we have done. We have forwarded copies of the court order to INEC and for it to reflect the names of our already submitted candidates on the ballot paper when the election starts on Saturday."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the court dismissed the appeal challenging the judgment of a lower court which upheld the Zamafra state APC primaries, which was held in 2018.

The court has also asked the INEC to accept candidates fielded by the APC in the state.
