The dab just won’t stop. It’s not enough that Paul Pogba does it every other day and that it has rubbed off on others. It got worse last week when England debuted a Dab Cab during its World Cup Qualifier. And now, there is this. During a game between the Free State Stars and Platinum Stars in South Africa this week, two players for Free State dabbed during the game. No joke. The charges against eight Nigerian nationals accused of drug trafficking were upheld yesterday on the final day of their trial, and the judge will release his verdict on September 12. Srey Makny, a substitute prosecutor at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, said the eight, along with one Cambodian woman, were arrested after police caught the group allegedly trafficking one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district in January 2015. Presiding Judge Khy Chhay named the nine on trial as Okorom Nhabu Favor, 36, Izuchukwu Chuwuma, 40, Nnamezie Victor, 30, Simon Maduka Ukadu, 45, Sunday Nwabusi, 31, Okorom Kizito Chimedu, 35, Francis Nnamedi, 30, Tony Mmaduka Chuwuonye, 34, and Morn Vinyung, 31. They were all charged under article 40 of the Drug Law. Despite an ission of guilt from Ms. Vinyung, Mr. Chuwuonye’s girlfriend at the time of their arrest, all eight men denied the charges against them, saying they were Christian missionaries who came to Phnom Penh to open a church. Captain Proeung Pheap, deputy chief of the Anti-Drug Unit at the 9th Intervention Police Office in the Ministry of Interior’s anti-drug department, said the group was using their Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries church as a front for a drug ring, hiding their identities and trafficking under the guise of missionary work. He claimed police discovered the illegal operation after Ms. Vinyung delivered drugs to undercover officers three separate times at the Sovanna supermarket in Chamkarmon district in January 2015. “Among these nine accused people, Morn Vinyung and Francis Nnamedi were arrested after they brought a package of drugs for sale to our undercover officer,” he said. “The other accused people were later arrested based on the answers of Morn Vinyung and Francis Nnamedi.” The other seven men were arrested when police raided three rented homes in Chamkarmon district’s Boeung Tumpon commune in Phnom Penh on January 8 and 9 in 2015. Police arrested another Cambodian woman found at one of the homes but later released her. During the raids, police found six large packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 802.44 grams and other drug-related paraphernalia. Police said they had been watching the group for a long time and alleged that their ringleader, Obieze Kenneth Uche, was still on the run. During the trial, Ms. Vinyung said she had been dating Mr. Chuwuonye, also known as Tony, for three months before their arrest. She told the court that her boyfriend paid her $100 to take a package to an unidentified man three separate times. “I it that I really did bring the package from Tony and gave it to his clients at the Sovanna supermarket, but I did not know that the packages were drugs,” she told the court. “If I had known that the packages were drugs, I would not have agreed to bring them, even though Tony offered to pay me money.” The eight Nigerian nationals vehemently denied the allegations, saying they were Christians, not drug dealers. Mr. Chuwuonye acknowledged that he had dated Ms. Vinyung, but said he never asked her to take drugs anywhere. “I was not a drug trafficker. I am a Christian missionary. I did not do any of the things I am accused of,” he said. Mr. Victor, the leader of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries church in Phnom Penh, said he volunteered to come to Cambodia from Nigeria as a Christian missionary in 2014 and has run the church in Chamkarmon district since then. “Police arrested me while I was praying at my own home. They handcuffed me and called me a drug dealer,” he said. “But I don’t know anything about this case or about any drugs. I am the victim of accusations and arrest by the police.” He claimed police forced him to confess during an interrogation session. Mr. Chimedu, Mr. Victor’s brother and an assistant at his church, said he had nothing to do with drug dealing but was arrested when police raided his home in Boeung Tumpon commune on January 8. Police found no drugs or paraphernalia at his home during their raid, he said. “I was a church assistant, and my job was to prepare bibles and prayer ceremonies for foreigners every weekend,” he said. “I have never smoked or used drugs in my life. I’ve never even seen drugs.” Thanks http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/28267/nigerian-drug-trafficker-trial-ends/

The new 2015/2016 university graduates are currently staging protest about the indefinite postponement of deployment of Batch A Stream II to various locations. The Federal government cited logistics as reason for postponement. This did not sit well with the new graduates, most of them complained their lives have been on hold due to the government lackluster attitude towards their plight. Some complained of being at home for the last 7 months idle and wasting precious time. Protest is currently going on at various locations around the country and has been peaceful so far. These are some pictures sent to us by the protestants. http://www.ibadancityng.com/prospective-nyse--holding-a-peaceful-protest-around-the-country/

A Nigerian living in Chicago was charged Thursday May 12 with scamming people out of more than $600,000 over the internet in northwest suburban Mount Prospect. Samson O. Alimi, 29, was charged with one felony count each of wire fraud, money laundering and continuing a criminal enterprise, according to Mount Prospect police. In April 2015, investigators identified Alimi as a suspect in a criminal organization that was running internet scams, police said. Further investigation showed that Alimi had received more than $600,000 in more than 500 MoneyGram money wire transfers over the course of a year from people who were sending money under false pretenses, police said. When officers arrested Alimi Thursday, they found 29 fake driver’s licenses with his picture on them and boxes of MoneyGram and Walmart receipts, police said. Alimi, of the 3200 block of West Olive Avenue in Chicago, was ordered held on a $200,000 bond Friday and is next scheduled to appear in court June 9, police said. http://www.ibadancityng.com/photo-of-nigerian-arrested-in-illinois-for-fraud-over-600000/

When he was canvassing for the British Nigerians' vote he did not know that abi. He was then visiting all the Nigerian churches to win their votes. I hope he does not get to run for election again. But truth be told, every facet of our society is corrupt. It is in our DNA and blood. Everyone has a price tag.

The dreaded “C” word. Many environmental factors like the sun, pollution and second-hand smoke can cause cancer. Unfortunately, recent studies have shown that popular foods, drinks and alcohol can also cause it. Some of these foods are probably in our kitchens right now. 1. Refined Sugar Refined sugar, we use a lot of these in our Nigerian homes to cook, eat cereal, pap and for our coffees and teas. It earned the nickname “Poison” because this sweetener is totally and completely bereft of any nutritional value. The pet name “Leach” comes from the vitamins and nutrients it saps from the body in order to be digested. Refined sugar, like the kind you pour in your coffee, eat as sweets, or that’s in store-bought tomato sauce you pour on your spaghetti, has been credited with feeding cancer cells. Now research says refined sugar might actually cause cancer.sugar 2. Mineral Drinks Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Seven-up etc might taste good, but that taste is the result of lots of sugar, colors and chemicals that add acid to the body that can spawn the growth of cancer cells. One study linked fructose, a type of sugar used in sodas, with pancreatic cancer. Another study found that the 4-methylimidazole in soda is a potential carcinogen. (4-methylimidazoleis a bi-product of caramel color which is used to turn colas and soft drinks that delicious brown hue.) The study stated that drinking just one can a day routinely could be enough to cause cancer cells to develop. Oh, let’s not forget the sugar, typically in the 40 grams per 12oz can neighborhood. Psst: that’s 10 teaspoons of sugar—in one can of pop! With so many other beverage options, maybe leave Coke, Fanta etc alone or minimize.Coke 3. Processed Meats Hot dogs or sausages for our Shawarma are a processed meat—they’ve been treated in some way to preserve their shelf life or to improve their flavor. This “processing” can be done by salting, curing, fermenting, smoking, or preserving in some other way. After reviewing 800 studies, The World Health Organization announced that process meats are a carcinogen (i.e. they can cause cancer). They reported that eating the equivalent of four slices of bacon daily (or eating four slices of bacon daily) raises the risk of getting colorectal cancer by 18 percent. The risk is low but present. Meats that fall into this category are not sold fresh and include ham, turkey, some deli, bacon, sausage and of course, hot dogs.Hotdogs 4. Red Meat This is a tough one because our consumption of red meat in Nigeria is high. Going to the Buka's around the country, when you hear the amount of red meat demanded by customers on their plates, you can;t help but be flabbergasted. The restaurant owners are not helping either, they load you up with "orisirisi" and eat as much as you want. World Health Organization(WHO) looked at red meat studies and concluded that red meat is a “probable” cause of cancer in humans. They found links between eating red meat and colorectal, prosatate and pancreatic cancers. Enjoying small amounts of grass-fed red meat occasionally is very different from eating quantities of red meat daily, and the WHO parks pork in the red meat category.redmeat 5. Microwaved Popcorn Though micro =waved pop corn is not very common in Nigeria, the health risk still needs to be pointed out. What could be easier than tossing a bag in the microwave, pressing a button and then voila: delicious popcorn?! Popcorn is a healthy snack offering potassium, iron and fiber. But microwave popcorn comes with some risks, cancer being one. A chemical that lines the microwavable bag decomposes and forms a compound that has been linked to liver and pancreatic cancer. A separate chemical used to flavor the popcorn can cause the lung condition called bronchiolitis obliterans. One way to decrease your chances of developing this is to let the bag of heated popcorn cool before opening it. One way to avoid all the ailments is to use a hot air popper or the stove top to pop your kernels. to go easy on the butter! 6. Dirty Fruits This is one most of us are guilty of, I see a lot of hawkers selling fruits in traffic, most of us buy and eat right away without washing. This is like eating pesticides. In the effort to make fruit unappealing to insects, we make the fruit unhealthy for humans. The bugs might because of the pesticides, but then the poisoned fruit winds up in your market and then on your table. Best to spend a little extra on organic. Otherwise, you might pay for it later.Dirty fruits 7. Potato Chips Yoruba's have a saying: "what will kill the sick person, is what S/he would like to eat". Most of us know potato chips are highly processed and contain a chemical that’s activated with high-temperature cooking. The chemical, acrylamide, is found in plastics and paper making as well as in cigarette smoke. Test done on rodents show that it causes cancer and probably will also cause cancer in human beings also. 8. French Fries/Chips Since French fries are potatoes, and cooking potatoes in high temps activates acrylamide ( potato chips?), this makes French fries a hazard. It doesn’t stop there. Potatoes are on the Dirty Dozen list of fruits and veggies with because of the high quantity of pesticides they retain. Then there’s the obvious danger: frying. But that’s more a heart-related risk than a cancer risk.frenchfries 9. Catfish Yes o catfish!!! Nigerian Catfish Pepper Soup (popularly known as Point & Kill) is that Nigerian pepper soup that is usually eaten at exclusive Nigerian bars and restaurants, its delicacy is irresistible to many people – is very common at social gatherings. Canned Tomatoes/Paste The lining in the cans of tomatoes contains a chemical known as bisphenol-A, or BPA. It is toxic, and it lines other canned foods as well. Tomatoes, however, due to their acidity, cause the BPA to leech from the lining of the can and enter the actual tomatoes. Not good. BPA in cans has been linked to several health issues including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. The danger is multiplied when tomatoes are in the can. It is recommended to use fresh organic tomatoes.canned tomatos 11. White Flour Bread Agege bread comes to mind when discussing white flour bread. For flour to become white, it has to be refined (which strips it of all nutritional benefits) and then bleached, typically using chlorine gas. If you eat white bread, for example, you are eating bread that is devoid of nutritional benefit, even if nutrients were put back in, called “enriching.” Thus, you’re not getting any disease-protective properties you would get from other foods. Also, white flour is high on the glycemic index which means your blood sugar and insulin levels spike after eating it. There is evidence that the process that ensues may have cancer-promoting effects. There was a study stating that refined carbohydrates were linked to a 220% increase in breast cancer among women. Whole wheat bread might be the better choice.Agege bread 12. Alcohol This should not be a surprise. Too much alcohol can lead to liver poisoning or liver cancer. VIO, thugs....they once stopped me and tried to extort money from me. In fact they did, N20,000. He got carried away counting the money he did not see me recording him. When I drove my car away from the premises I walked back to demand my money back. I told them I have them on video and failure to refund my money would land them on trouble. I promised to put video online. They quickly refunded my money. I still have the video and may still expose them one day.
