NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE RECRUITMENT.
COMMENCEMENT OF TRAINING.

Nigeria Customs Service is set to commence basic training for the recently enlisted and documented candidates.

The six (6 ) months training programme which will take place in Customs training Colleges in Kano and Lagos, will commence on Monday 10th January 2022.

Consequently, all documented candidates of Grade levels 03, 04 and 06 are requested to arrive the Customs Training College, Goron Dutse, Kano, while those of Grade 08 are to report at Customs Training College, Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday 9th January 2022.

Recruits are to note that any act of indiscipline at any stage of the training programme will attract severe penalties which may include out right dismissal/ eviction from the College.

Please also note that arrival at the designated College according to the specified levels above on Sunday 9th January 2022 is mandatory as training commences on Monday 10th January 2022.

Is it part of the recent application or your own is different, I applied a week ago, I based in Osun

No boss. There was a memo recently to all state Governorment. According to the memo, it contained the list of successful Candidate in each local government in various state across the country. Hence the government is to somehow confirm if the local government identification submitted by each candidate was genuine.

And so far it seems some state have already completed their REVALIDATION PROCESS. that's the reason I asked to keep myself updated.

I want to thank the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service for what seems to be the most merit-based recruitment exercise. The problem now is that much remains to be achieved from the process.

A brief summary of the recruitment is as follows: applications were received and closed in 2019 while shortlisting of candidates and exam were concluded in January 2020 and names of successful candidates were published and screened a year after in February 2021 and July 2021. As it stands, most of the persons screened don’t know their status as to whether they have ed the screening stage or not.

Speculations have been flying around from an alleged power tussle between the Minister of Finance and the CGC as the reason for the delay. Similarly, the lack of logistics for training and the allegation that NCS is using the recruitment as a bait to get its budget ed by the National Assembly is also being speculated as a reason for the delay.

Whatever is the reason for this delay, I believe the poor applicants deserve better. This delay is likely to affect the mental health of some of the applicants. Many applicants have hinged their last hope on the recruitment considering that they have come this far in the process.

I want to use this space to call the attention of the Nigeria Customs Service Board, Management and the Minister of Finance and Col. Hameed Ali to address the situation. They should tell the candidates the outcome of the exercise so that they can have peace of mind.
