*This same Kaduna Airport* I vividly, 26th of June 1987, a flight of four Alpha -jets took off from Kaduna Air Force Base to an exercise area at the Bida- Kontagora axis. Onboard on one of the Alpha jets was AVM CN Chukwu( then of a Lower Rank). "The day's weather forecast predicted rain and thunder towards the afternoon for the Kaduna area. The exercise was smooth until mid, trouble started at the close of the exercise when the four Alpha jets headed for the runway. Hear him: " I quickly rolled out of the turn and commenced a shallow turn in the opposite direction as prescribed by the books in a situation like this, but the next thing I saw in the darkness of this violent cloud was the belly of another large aircraft so close to my canopy that I could touch it if I stretched my hand. I instantly aggressively pushed down and away and as I did not hear a bang, I knew I had survived. I have never seen a flight situation so terrifying. I am amazed how we did not collide.
