If there are one-tenth of rational Muslims like bellotti and logical, the world will surely be a better place. Sadly, thats not the reality. I wish more Muslims were as accommodating as you guys are. The difference between the two religion is what majority of the adherents truly believe and practice.

Wether it's the misinterpretation of the Quaran or other social factors in Islamic based societies, we cannot deny the fact that their is a predominant view among Muslims that there is a spiritual justification to address any issue that go against the tenets of Islam with violence. Unfortunately, not much is been done to dissuade this belief. Especially in modern times where people are ready to defend their fundamental human rights to the last blood. As long as one does not encroach on your space you have no right to fight, no matter what you believe in. |

Women can be very very disgusting. I know some will say that the man should know better, but in the end, blood is blood (sisters). I pray she gets run over by a molue, before her sister finds out.

It was just a nice Jesus movie. Maybe I've seen too many graphic stuff in my life that I'm not as sensitized as some.

In a period not quite long ago and maybe still in some African cultures, women used to walk around the village topless, without raising any eyebrow. Is indecent dressing/exposure dependent on time and place? I should think so.

I'm concerned that my people tend to place too much emphasis trying to eliminate their accent rather than speaking clearly. My point is that there is nothing really wrong speaking with an accent as long as you pronounce your words clearly. Don't try to sound cute and end up mumbling incomprehensible words. Accent is all about attitude. Listen to a Caribbean express himself with all the accent beneath the words. Still he never lacks confidence. Our problem is that we tend not to be comfortable when people detect the accent in our voice and they're curious to find out where you're from. In the long run, who you are and the respect you get from people has nothing to do with your accent. You might sound different and you're name a little difficult to pronounce at first, but believe me, in Europe and America where competition in life is steep, different is a good thing.

This is a very tricky situation. There are a couple of ways to go but I think the best option is to talk to her about your concerns, since both of you are close. But, be sure you are very tight with your friend and he trusts you, because this might blow up in your face and you lose a friend if she thinks you're interfering in her affairs. You can't talk to your friend first, because you might be wrong in your conclusion of what you observed. |

Most women date older men for life securities, money being primary. Women are often insecure or ill-equipped to attain a comfort level from the ground up.

Nigeria is really a twisted country. You must have connection or bribe your way into becoming a military officer. Coups were prevalent and you stand a good chance of landing a plum job in government, to line your pocket with public funds. Hopefully, if our democracy is sustained, the military will revert to their natural role of defending the country and only those that have the calling will . We might even see ads with incentives to lure people into the military. |

I'm sick and tired of most Nigerians abroad criticizing everything Nigeria. From the funny accent to their superiority complex, it's just disgusting. Nigerians at home don't hate or envy, as some have suggested in this forum. We just want you to keep it real in the Nigerian context, and stop acting like jackasses just because you hopped on a plane and back.

Help! I'm loosing interest in soccer faster than I can explain. Other sports like football, baseball and basketball are threatening the continued existence of soccer in my life. I am afraid soccer is losing the battle because I can't watch a 90 minutes game anymore except Nigeria is playing.

President Olusegun Obasanjo has sent a new Central Bank of Nigeria bill to the National Assembly, which seeks to curtail the abuse of the country's currency. Spraying of, dancing or marching on the Naira or any note issued by the Bank during social occasions or otherwise howsoever shall constitute an abuse and defacing of the Naira or such note and shall be punishable under the new law. It shall also be an offence to hawk, sell or otherwise trade in the naira note or any other note issued by the Bank. Spraying under the new law includes adorning, decorating anything or any person or any part of any person or the person of another with naira notes or coins. The bill also includes sprinkling, sticking of the naira notes or coins regardless of the amount, occasion or intent. It also explained "marching" to include spreading, scattering or littering of any surface with any naira notes or coins and stepping thereon. This is a welcome development. I hope it is ed into law ASAP. 1 Like |
