Me: I actually still don't know what I said, I stammered and was shaking, I packed my documents and left.

I think the major reason why I got scared was that I never knew the interview would be kind of Open like that, I thought it was a kindaf private thing that i'd even sit. As I entered into the room, I was like waawu and got really scared.

There are standard procedures we always discuss here that help candidates and prevent unnecessary stories during their visa interviews. They include;

- Applying to at least three schools
- Taking standardized tests (GRE/GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS)
- Following a logical study approach (BS to MS to PhD, and not BS to AA or BS to BS)

If you fail to do any of these, you are just giving yourself an unnecessary headache - a headache that should have been clearly avoided.

Your visa can be approved but make sure you tell the VO that you applied to one school - don't lie!. I don't think telling the VO that you had financial problems is important. The VO is not asking you "why did you apply to one school?"

The question is "How many schools did you apply to?" And your response should be "One" with no further story that will complicate things for you.

Regarding the i20, it is normal for schools to fund you for 8 or 9 months. You shouldn't have issues with that.

You do not have power over the duration of the cost estimated on your i20, some schools estimate 12months, others 9months, others 8 months, the 12months only means they estimated the cost of Summer semester too, so I don't think you have anything to worry about cause like it is stated, it is just an estimate. You can as well email the international office to make enquiries

About the school you applied to, be truthful, tell the VO you considered other schools but only applied to one, shikena.

My i-20 was issued last week tuesday (still on its way) but I was told I can go ahead with the payment of sevis and visa appointment. Now that I don't have my i-20 yet with me, is it safe for me to go ahead with visa appointment, I have paid for both sevis and visa.

Also, can I go ahead to fill and submit the ds - 160 form?? Like how does the form really work? Can I fill now and submit but apply for visa interview in a week or two weeks time?

Also, like how does the visa interview date work? I mean, if I apply today, what could be the earliest day of interview?

Good day fam. If you require a second pair of eyes for your SOP, I'm still available. However, for those who may be shy or overly scared of plagiarism, here's one for you. In academics, there is a certain way of writing and it never changes. Your SOP is not an opportunity to restate your CV. Instead your SOP should be more like a cover letter for your CV.
In of content, as much as possible, you should answer the following questions: Why have you chosen the program? Why have you chosen the school? What are your plans, short-term and long-term? Why should the school choose you (I.e., how do you fit in both in of research experience and current interests)? Outside of academics, who are you? Answering these questions should make you SOP stronger.
In of structure, I would advice you to start off with a very strong introduction that briefly answers all the questions. Here you would do yourself a lot of good by spending sometime on your research interests. Try to highlight areas of fit and specify interesting research questions. Also ensure that you state names of your POI here. It is also better to conclude this paragraph by outlining how this program would help you achieve your long-term goals. In my opinion "being a professor of management" does not sound better than "a career in teaching and research on topics such as leadership and employee motivation."
In the next paragraph, I would advice you to bring in your most relevant research experience. In this paragraph, you should try to "show don't tell". By this, I mean it is not enough to just tell the committeee that you have experience or skill, write with examples.
In the third paragraph, you should bring in your academic experience, especially if this is not your most recent research experience. Although there'll be that temptation to start listing courses, topics treated and thesis experience are more important. Your transcripts would carry the names of your courses, dwell more on topics covered. Also, I think it's important for you to walk the committee through your thesis experience. Process, research questions, methods, and findings are really important.
In your fourth paragraph, you should highlight your other reasons four ing the program. Here you must try as much as possible to be specific.
Fourth paragraph should contain something about yourself outside of academics. Here I would advice you to tell the committee what else you can add to the community.
Fifth paragraph should be that strong conclusion.

For the structure of each paragraph after the first, the first sentence should state the main idea. Every other sentence should provide explanations about that opening sentence. For instance, the second paragraph should start with something like "currently, I work as a research assistant at xnxx.com. In this role I have worked closes with Prof. HOC. Amongst my research contributions at xnxx.com, I have done xyz"

Finally, this is just my own opinion. I am neither a professor not a committee member, you should take this with a pinch of kilishi and a bottle of orijin.

Hello guys, I'm currently camping at Borno Nysc camp in Katsina and I filled a form to redeploy to another state. Many people are saying we'd get to see the state of redeployment tomorrow. As I also heard that those that are not trying to redeploy will see their ppa tomorrow, I want to know if my ppa letter will come alongside the redeployment letter or I'd be the one to look for ppa.
