You can present the result to schools, anyone that don't want it will do their internal evaluation themselves.

Actually after using Wes evaluation calculator on their portal it boosted my result from 2.6 to 2.91



But I don’t know if the 2.91 is okay and also
What about the schools who doesn’t ask for evaluated result
Will I still send them the Wes result too

With 2.91 you will get ission, you just need to target schools between 2.5- 2.75 gpa.

Lots of them.

You will use the unofficial copy as your application, that's after doing a real evaluation.

Funding is not really necessary because my uncle sponsoring me has $25k available for the whole process for me

Realistically, your gpa is low. It's a long process though but if you can do what I say you'll thank me later. A 3rd class bros close to me did these process, now he's in the state now schooling.

First, evaluate your transcript with WES to improve your gpa

Second, search for low ranking schools in rural America and those colder regions where competition is pretty low.

Third, write a GRE test to help you cover up for the low gpa


Fourth, apply to about 7-10 of such schools and earlier to increase your options.

Lastly, thank me later.


Note: The process is fund intensive, exhausting but worth it if you ask me.

Luckily, you can even get funded offer too.

This was my exact same CGPA, I got direct PhD ission with funding in 2013. I think it should still be a competitive CGPA. My GRE score was 312 if I correctly.

Don't be deceived! You have to check the department of these your mentors. Some departments don't receive a high volume of applicants like other departments like Data/Business Analytics. The high volume of applicants makes the competition to be fierce.

Also, I can bet you that these guys have a high GPA and graduated with a FIRST CLASS.

Check your CV and ask yourself why would a department want to sponsor your education. What value do you bring to the team? Do you have the useful skills to assist ongoing or future research in the department? They care about your writing samples to see if you are a good researcher. Have you been volunteering in an NGO? This shows you have the social skill to survive the complexity of the graduate school environment.

Be intentional with your application. Find a school not that popular that your application can stand out.

Exactly. Using an outlier like one Ugochukwu somebody doesnt tell the whole story. Average Naija student with little or no research experience, who doent have any standardized test; and is applying for funding, is doing some disservice to his/her application.

That was before covid, not now anymore. Gre has been waived and will be outlaw soon.
And again, most schools look at several factors when it comes to Graduate application.
SOP, letter of Recommendation, Resume if done right can give good funding.

P.S. I wrote GRE though, and was told blantly it's not needed

Ugochukwu Madu got into 5 fully funded PhD programs in the US without GRE in fall 2022. Search for him on LinkedIn.

WTF is GRE. A 4 hours exam that has been bastardized with the home edition version. Don't be surprised most high scoring result don't even seat for it anymore, they outsource it.

GRE is expensive for the poor brilliant candidate in the 3rd world countries.

Most schools abroad are coming to with this new reality, thanks to Covid, now without GRE graduate are even performing better in school, e.g Florida State University has waived it till 2026.

Alot of schools in the US now waived GRE forever.

I can count 100 top schools that waived it already.

Don't run from school waiving application fees, you need to save cost. Considering the exchange rate, just be competitive and apply early too.
App fee waivers are the sweetest.

I don seek for app waiver tire for these pending 3 universities. Only Purdue sent mail for me to for graduate fair which will hold in March (already late to me. I would prefer to pay for them consider me for ission and funding under fast track than attend the event and lose out completely.

IOWA State showed me shege last Fall application despite scaling the initial review, and being told they will consider my application for next academic semester since there is no slot to it me. Few weeks after fall semester started, they sent love letter ).

If you don't mind, can you drop the names of schools you applied to. Might have one or two of them I could apply to, and probably get app fee waiver like you.
