Antonio Cassano likened Cristiano Ronaldo to Rafael Nadal and Lionel Messi to Roger Federer as the former Real Madrid forward praised the two football superstars.

Ronaldo and Messi have dominated the sport over the past decade, splitting the last 10 Ballons d’Or as former players, pundits and fans debate the pair’s standing among the best ever.

And after Ronaldo swapped European champions Real Madrid for Italian giants Juventus in a sensational €112million transfer completed this week, Cassano used tennis greats Nadal and Federer to compare the 33-year-old Portugal captain and Barcelona icon Messi.

“I love Messi not as a counter-point to Cristiano, but because in my view he’s the best of all time and the emotions he gives me are unique,” former Italy international Cassano told Vanity Fair.

“If I have to rationalise it or convince you, I ask you to find me someone else who handles the ball and scores so consistently as Messi.

“Cristiano lacks nothing, let’s be clear, but that’s not the point. I love tennis. Now, Cristiano is like Nadal, a fantastic athlete built on talent, but also hard work and desire.

“Messi is more like Federer. He is pure artistry and class. They are different, and you can prefer one to the other. I am with Messi, as he can make the difference even when standing still, he almost doesn’t need physical fitness.”

Real Madrid and Chelsea have agreed a €35 million deal for Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, according to a report from RMC.



Courtois had one year left on his contract with Chelsea, that being the reason why the London-based club were forced to accept such a low offer from Madrid. The keeper completed an excellent 2018 FIFA World Cup and has been starting for Chelsea ever since he left Atletico de Madrid.

Courtois wanted to return to the Spanish capital because his family lives there. Real Madrid needed an elite goalkeeper and it’s clear that Courtois is the perfect player at the right price.

The deal will become official this week and Courtois might be able to defend Real’s goal in the European Super Cup against Atletico de Madrid this August

Antonio Conte said thank you to “all my friends at Chelsea Football Club” on Monday but, unsurprisingly, that did not include the club‘s board.

Antonio Conte was fired as manager on Friday after two stormy seasons in which winning the Premier League and FA Cup were offset by his fractious relationship with club officials.

The Italian issued a statement through the League Managers Association thanking many for their assistance.

Former Spain World Cup winner Fernando Torres, who has signed for Japanese side Sagan Tosu, stated Sunday he’ll do his best to lead the team to victory in the J.League.

The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Spain striker, who left Atletico Madrid this summer after returning to his boyhood club in 2015, will put on the number 9 shirt for Sagan.

“I will give 100 per cent. I will always work hard,” the 34-year-old Torres told reporters in Tokyo. “I want to help my team win, which is an important thing.”

Torres stated he had received many offers, however, chose Sagan as they had been the first one which showed “true interest.”

Modric will captain Croatia in the nation’s historic first ever World Cup Final against where he will be organising Croatia’s midfield, but 28 years ago organising goats on Velebit mountain was his biggest task.

Pavle Balenovic captured Modric whilst filming a wildlife documentary but only recently realised that the boy in his video was the Real Madrid superstar.

Some critics on social media even called for a Fifa investigation over a “disgrace to sport”.

With Real Madrid have confirmed the departure of star man Cristiano Ronaldo, the European champions will have to turn their attention to finding a replacement.

The Portuguese forward has agreed on a deal to Italian champions Juventus for a reported fee of £105million.

Manchester City have completed the g of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract and has opted to take the number 26 shirt.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has ed Juventus, becoming one of the four most expensive players of all time.

A deal worth 112m euros (£99.2m) has been reached between the two clubs that have seen the Portuguese sign a four-year deal with the Italian champions.

Ronaldo, 33, won four Champions League titles in his nine years at Real.

“The time has come to open a new stage in my life, that’s why I asked the club to accept transferring me,” he said.

Egypt’s national team player Mo salah attended the engagement ceremony of his younger brother, Nasr, on Thursday evening in Egypt amid strict security measures.
The ceremony was held at a hall on the Alexandria-Tanta Road and was attended by the couple’s relatives and some public figures as requested by Salah’s family to prevent jostle and upsetting the couple.

Mo salah returned from holiday in Beirut on Wednesday. He is scheduled to return back to England to begin training with his team, Liverpool, for the new season.

Russia’s star midfielder Aleksandr Golovin has already signed a contract and agreed to Chelsea, stated by former CSKA Moscow manager Valery Gazzaev.
